Welcome back to Stick to Football, brought to you by SkyBet. On this week’s special episode we are delighted to be joined by former Manchester United player and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Joined by former team-mates Gary Neville and Roy Keane alongside Ian Wright, Jamie Carragher and Jill Scott, the hosts start the show tucking into a special Norwegian stew dish, and it doesn’t take long for Roy to remind Ole of his miss against Bayer Leverkusen in the 2002 Champions League semi-finals.
Having last spent time as a manager at Manchester United, Ole reveals what really went on at the club during his tenure, including how he nearly signed Declan Rice, Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham and what it was like working with Cristiano Ronaldo.
The man who made the 1999 Treble win possible also talks about what his winning goal against Bayern Munich and gives insight into the dressing room, telling never told before stories of what hobby Gary took up as a player and which guest Ole nearly had a fight with in the tunnel.
Finally we end on a min-quiz between Ole and Roy centred around the infamous Champions League semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen; who will have bragging rights between the former United duo?
If you liked the episode don't forget to let us know in the comments and if you want to listen only you can catch Stick to Football on all major podcast platforms.

This is a great interview and it sounds like Ole's learned a lot in retrospect. It also explains how United managed to get such a long unbeaten away run going but somehow kept stumbling at home. I wouldn't object to having him back under Sir Jim. It showed that he knew how to get his team to play to their strengths but allowed the pressure of Old Trafford to get him to play "the United way" to get the better of his judgment. Counter attacking teams can be just as exciting to watch as well as the United teams that he played in.

Fun fact: At 1:26 Gary asks “why is it that Norwegian stew is the same as scouse?”. Norwegian stew, or “Lapskaus” as we call it, is a traditional Norwegian dish, and alongside porridge, that’s what the vikings usually ate. The vikings often travelled to the UK to plunder, and more specifically, they travelled a lot to Liverpool since it’s close to the sea, and the vikings would travel with their ships. They brought porridge, and more importantly, they brought lapskaus. Lapskaus would later be shortened to “skaus” and then scouse, which is also the reason why people from Liverpool are called scousers!😄 PS: I absolutely adore Solskjær, he was my childhood hero, as I am a Norwegian and a die-hard United fan!
