You know, I keep contemplating getting several of their containers and do a cargo port board with them and a crane as the major sections for it.

I find that the GW washes can give something more like the enamel look if you blend them away before they dry with a clean wet brush

Great video! I've heard of the "hairspray technique" but I don't think I've ever actually seen it in use before! It's not too difficult! GW washes tend to be pretty stark. It's nice for miniatures with lots of nooks and crannies, but rough for larger surfaces. It's designed to be quite dark, and most of the time you have to repaint the raised areas of whatever it was you were washing with it. I think you might have wanted to use their Seraphim Sepia wash on the yellow container. That's the more yellow-tinted wash they make. Alternately you could have thinned down the Agrax Earthshade with some water plus some acrylic medium and applied thinner coats of it.

Since gw wash is acrylic, you need to pre wet the surface to be able to blend it better, otherwise it sticks to the surface and dries too fast. Just a little bottle of water to mist the surface you're about to do, or a damp cloth, would help a lot.

I suggest putting down matt varnish after the red/rust paint, before you do the hairspray technique. It will allow you to be as rough as you need to remove whatever the top coat is to expose the rust.
