As an Oregon I am stoked! As a college football fan, I think this is excellent for the sport. Its nice to have some more parity by having good teams across the country and not only in 3 southern states

Taggart was a SCRUB. Mario COULD recruit well.....BUT.... His Ego wouldn't allow Him to delegate quality PLAY CALLING to more ADEPT coaches!! Coach Lanning HAS.....IT.....ALL!! Smarts! Dan Lanning just made Oregon become like ten times higher in ratings. Nobody turns down Alabama but our coach at Oregon. We are so lucky to have him. Taggart and Cristobal crushed us when they left. But without that we don't have Dan Lanning. So thank you Willie Taggart and Mario Cristobal for helping us get the coach everybody wants.

Most coaches know that following Saban at Bama is a losing prospect. Better to let someone else come in and fail first, then the job will become more attractive when the expectations become more manageable

Bear Bryant Lanning lol, hes coached two seasons, lost every big game his teams played in with the most veteran college football quarterback in recent memory but is discussed as like the obvious successor to the goat and also in the same conversations as Urban Meyer and Dabo? who both combined have more national championships than Lanning has power 5 level seasons coached total. Are people serious? I applaud him for staying loyal to Oregon and i wish him the best moving forward but the hype for this dude is a little much..

The dude has been a head coach for 2 seasons, that’s it. What’s he’s accomplished so far is damn good for a new head coach. His first season as a head coach he won 10 games, and in his second he won 12. That isn’t some small feat. Oregon has only won 12 games 5 times in program history. The trajectory is clear for Oregon. They are going to continuously be in the conversation to win the playoff and it’s because Lanning is stacking line of scrimmage talent like an SEC/Big 10 program. Doubt it if you want, but Oregon is gonna be great while this dude is coaching them. The losses to Washington were close, and there is no doubting how good that team was this year.

@princeofgreece9054 he's definitely a good young coach but as you said 2 seasons. The other day i was hearing his name mentioned with all time greats like am i missing something about this dude? Isn't he like 35 with 2 seasons only? But i do agree his future is likely bright i just prefer to see it before annointing anyone like chip kelly but atleast he had 4 elite level seasons and two good ones here in philly until his offense was figured out to be like 7 plays that alternate sides and goes really fast lol. Right now during this wild west period we're going thru in cfb is the perfect time to coach at oregon with that long nike money. Stewart going there tells you everything 💰. If uncle Phil wants to get one for his Alma mater right nows the time before someone steps in and regulates it. It's sort of like if the nfl dropped the cap for a couple seasons Jerry Jones would pay whatever it took to win another one before he checks out. Lanning being as young as he is with the team he knows he'll have atleast the next 2 years or so at oregon he might as well take his shot there now because the fact he turned down Alabama indicates to me if he leaves oregon it will only be for a nfl job

Lol,,,. Sabin wanted lanning then Kirby got him. Dan is young and proven he can recruit and also win. He’s young. And has made mistakes but he’s not going to stop or settle until he wins. That’s the mindset you want as your head coach. Alabama definitely had him on their radar and a potential candidate
