I moved out of mayfair in 2018, I lived next to st Bernard's. It is not the glitz and glamor you are speaking. Goto toresdale ave near the park, cottman ave to rhawn st. They sell drugs on multiple streets just like the badlands. There is alot of Asians now BUT more families moved from north, west, swp, etc to get out of the bad neighborhoods and just brought the same ish to there now. Mostly every night up on the ave stores get held up by gun point, shootings, drugs, etc (don't know how bad it is now since I moved away) . I got tired of the helicopters every night shining the light down into my windows, well everyones. Philly is Philly in this time we live in.

A great blow to Mayfair was the closure of The Grey Lodge due to the COVID pandemic. Run by the extraordinary Scoats, whom I'm proud to call a friend. The Grey Lodge was named by Esquire magazine as one of the 50 best bars in the entire USA!

When I was a kid in Port Richmond, I also used to think Mayfair was somehow special - my cousins moved away from Almond St. up to Mayfair and the idea was that they had 'made it' out of the neighborhood, so Mayfair was somehow special due to that. I did not know until later that it was basically the same sweatpants and cigarettes vibe as the River Wards, but with front lawns.

Yes good ol Kmart on the Blvd...Miss it..Also that skating Rink used to be called WOW back in our day...Also I remember that great beer/wine place...Also Trampelinemania at every one's home...

The backstreets of Mayfair are the "driveways" (what we call alleys in Chicago. )

Grew up in Mayfair by st Tim’s. Used to be lily white northeast. Irish German Italian polish. Very prejudiced in the 1960s.more integrated now. Those moving in didn’t bring all the change. Both parents working , lack of discipline in schools, Recs without staff etc all led to culture change. I still miss philly.

Fun fact. If your ever walking by Fanshawe st across from the dunkin donut near the corner there a building across the street and If you look up at the roof top you can see part of a old faded out 1940's advertisement. I was told by my grandfather that is was for cat/dog food.

The Ol HB's, niteworks nightspots used to be in that parking lot besides a furniture place in latter years...Captain at one time way back that whole parking lot used to be Blvd Pools...

It was very Irish Catholic. Ok, I'm Scot, Irish Catholic. Same thing. Gram came here from Glasgow in the 20's. Ok, you're on my old block of Englewood don't know if you'll hit 3500 block but I lived there for fifty years.

I live in Mayfair and yes it is mostly Chinese and Vietnamese and parking sucks because people don’t park in the back or they have more then one car. Also, it is Asian eggplant that you are seeing

There are very few Vietnamese in Mayfair. The large majority of the Asians are Chinese, many recently relocated from New York City.

this aint Kensington thats for sure watch out the city might relocate some of those dopers to this neighborhood. that will be the start of their rehab program.
