All of those light techniques have been around, as shown when Salidin used the Fire Axe. It’s probably just for Gameplay reasons, we can’t use those abilities. A self-reviving Dawnblade would be awesome, but OP in gameplay terms.

Golfen Gun existed sirca the Dark Age. From Thorn/The Last Word ghost fragments we can also tell that the golden gun itself is an embodyment of Gunslinger's rage.

@@xolagix specifically when a hunter casts a classic golden gun they are actually summoning that same light embodiment of the last word that Shin Malfur used. Many Hunters have changed their light to reflect their own legends tho, as we know Cayde summons his ace of spades. It's really cool that the legend of Shin Malfur and his confrontation with dredgen yor is this impactful on hunters to this day.

I think it was said that sentinel shield arc staff and dawn blade were forgotten arts over the ages since saints time until the shard of the traveler reminded our guardian of the art

I think our “new” powers like the staff shield and swords are actually light abilities from the past, and what d1 guardians have are actually evolved versions of the old ones

That is one of the things that I would love to do. Go back to day 1 destiny with the lore I know now. How many times were little bits and pieces of information dropped with no context to know how important they are?

We could see how shaxx, cayde, and ikora rise to greatness. We could fight in the battle of twilight gap beside them.

not really. they're capable of causing final deaths fairly easy, it just depends on if the ghost gets captured. the devourer bullet for cayde was meant for cayde himself, but when he brought out Sundance the rifleman switched over. with the cabal, there's been plenty of evidence of them killing guardians in grimoire cards, but they prefer to avoid us as it takes a lot of artillery to take out the ghost just to kill a single enemy. vex are capable of plenty of stuff, just look to asher Mir and kabr's team. martyr was specifically made for Saint because Saint is pretty much just impossible to kill, he kept going for a long while even after losing his light.

@@Ahnock you forget that they created a thing just for saint that took them for however long, and once it became busted, it stayed busted. Let's look at it, you have Eris and her team who got slapped on the moon. You got the taken on gambit that from what Drifter and another guardian said at the start of gambit prime that they taken basically real death some of the guardians. I'm pretty sure there are more, I just can't remember or know at the top of my head. That was the point of my comment though. It takes a certain bullet to kill a ghost for fallen/scorn, it takes as you say a bunch of artillery to kill 1 ghost, and the vex created one machine to subdue 1 titan. Meanwhile hive and taken can seem to kill guardians left and right compared to them all.

@@Ahnock and I'm not saying that the other species aren't dangerous, im just saying from the game and info, the hive and taken seem to kill more. Vex create anything to help their needs atm, cabal with their advanced tech and weaponry and the fallen with them being our most extreme rival. To me only the fallen come second to hive/taken since they seem to be the closest ones to us. "Oh you couldn't get siva to work with you, well boom we just fully integrated with it. Oh you have the light backing you up, well we got the darkness." Basically to me as danger goes from most to least its : hive/taken, fallen, vex and then cabal.

For the hive and taken its because of the darkness which is a paracasual force of nature that is the opposite of the light, plus the have knight that wield blades capable of absorbing the light, and then there's the taken same thing like the hive absorb the light of guardians does
