Listen, Pink Horrors are the chaos daemons transport. It just brings specifically blue horrors, which is about the same percentage of the daemons range that all of the units the rhino can bring of the SM

It may sound weird but I actually haven't seen an Impulser irl nor ever cared enough to look photos of it. I thought it was just a more elaborate/futuristic Rhino, I had NO IDEA it had a freaking pickup flatbed, I'm rolling right now. I really feel like kitbashing a couple of marines with banjos and stick them to an Impulser with stickers on its rear bumper.

It's so funny how much I differ from the guys on the podcast, especially Brad, because -I play Space Marines -I think the Rhino looks cool -I think those Marines with the big dumb guns who's names I forget look cool (the indirect ones that were briefly busted) -I think the Wave Serpent looks cool -I think Harlequins _should_ be removed as a faction and just be a different color of Eldar -I think the Harlequin transport looks fine but not as good as they claim it looks And yet I still really enjoy the podcast despite taking constant jabs at my torso. The F-150 Impulsor comparison is perfect. largely because the only reason F-150s look like that is the increase in cab size. The bed has barely changed. There are tiny little Toyotas from like, the 70s, with the exact same size bed. Its insane.

Man, if there is an episode to watch while mostly being an audio listener, this one is definitely top three thanks to your editor. And not just the crazy rhino intro images, but all the little details throughout the rest, just added so much more to the dumb jokes. (Also audio editor was on point as well, lets' not forget them)

Just a heads up, turning Pick-ups into war machines is an extremely powerful and cheap way to create and mobilize a monster force. They are called "technicals". Look up the "Great Toyota War", where in Chad and Libya armies confronted each other, one with massive stopping power (Mi-24 helicopters, 6 airplanes, 300 T-55 battle tanks, multiple artillery and 8,000+ soldiers) and a much smaller force of Chadians (you heard it here folks, a literal army of Chads) with essentially nothing but some rifles, and a fraction of their size. They won the entire war by converting the Toyota Hilux (roughly 400 of them) into fast, all-terrain vehicles with greater mobility and the ability to re-position, out-flank and out-maneuver the Libyan army, with essentially Anti-air or light anti-tank/heavy anti-infantry weapons platforms on the back (think autocannons). The big turning point was when in a single 18 hour battle, the Chadians managed to take beat an army of 5,000 Libyan soldiers, killing 800+ and destroying 92 T-55 battle tanks, at the cost of 18 soldiers and 3 Toyota Hilux's. Wars win off of functionality, never aesthetics! When you min/max, it doesn't matter if you're driving a truck that literally can't even stop an AK-74 round from going straight through the entire vehicle, even the engine block, and killing somebody, because you're never going to be hit in the first place. :) Making this comment because of 13:50 I heard what you said! I hate pick-up trucks, and I especially hate pick-up truck drivers (on the road), but I would never insult the god given design of the Toyota Hilux. (This is a true story, feel free to look it up! The Chadians won the war, in the sense that they were finally able to bring the war to a close and peace talks to ensue as the Libyans were the ones trying to take their land)

You know you gave the devilfish a B, but you gave the wave serpent a D. Even though those two models are practically the same thing. I'd argue that the wave serpent should at least get a C, because all the craftworld tanks use the same basic design.

It says a lot about the crew of poorhammer that they have Digimon PS1 references but on the mention of a box we didn't get a Firaeveus Carron pop up on the side of the screen.

The impulsor is just a toyota pickup from the 80's discovered during the unification wars. It's like a dreadnought truck. It's still powered by the same engine.

The Dunerider was awesome in 8th edition (and 9th before the 9th edition book came out) I was really excited to start an Admech army, and I got ready to do so for the 9th edition book. Then this book completely changed them to a more horde-style army, and the army I had planned was obsolete. I ended up selling all my admech. I just have a couple of things left which I kept for conversions/bits box.

The worst thing about the impulsor was seeing the interior and thinking "damn glad I don't have to waste time painting this!" then realizing it's open top and having to spend extra hours on painting and weathering it

The Impulsor almost feels like the sort of thing we'd have if 40k Bloodbowl was a thing and it just kind of leaked into our world from that timeline.

I’m sure a billion people have already said this, but the Rhino is based on an IRL US military vehicle; the M113; colloquially known as the battle taxi. The thing is literally just a metal box with tank treads and a 50 cal. bolted to the top. In addition, it has a modular design, allowing you to attach ridiculous crap to the back of it (ie the razorback) for added absurdity.

I never knew the impulsor was a pickup truck. Their angle trick worked!

I’d love to see you guys rank every factions Guardsmen. Their cheap, T3, bad save horde infantry. Give space marines that “Did Not Submit” grade before Kill Team: Chapter Serfs comes along and gives them an auto A.

16:20 5-7e Guard players remember being able to shoot 5 people out of the top. It's got better guns than the Rhino, you can actually just about match a couple loadouts of Razorback between the turret and hull mount. It's weapons are all pretty much anti-infantry though and not tank-like.

That Digimon world art and music gets you a like and comment off the bat.

It's kind of wild seeing that Chaos literally just had the same vehicles as the imperium, given how vastly different the designs are for Eldar and Dark Eldar. Even other imperium factions have visually different stuff.

I personally would have also added a paint/build criteria fir these. Like the Ghost Ark will take a millions hours to paint versus a Rhino you could bang out in a day. Love it all!

There's actually a growing trend in the US, car companies are trying to sell (with a surprisingly large amount of success) impractical and badly designed pickup trucks and light trucks for suburban moms looking for something to buy groceries with. It's stupid, it's funny, it looks really dubm, ut for some reason, poeple keep buying them.

When they said having the black templars in the impulser i just looked at my dedicated black templar impulser with crusader squad. It does work out well thought.

Honestly surprised you guys didn't refer to the Impulsor as the Toyota Hylux of the Space Marine arsenal when you brought up the comparison to a pick-up truck. It is after all the kind of vehicle you could cobble together in a junkyard to use as a cheap all-in-one transport and mobile weapons platform.

I love, love, love the Ad Mech Dunerider transport. It looks amazing. It’s a WWII amphibious transport on top of a hover craft. It’s generous. Before this came out Ad Mech players had to put their units in a Forge World Drill!

To push back against the Clear Eldar bias, the Wave Serpent I think embodies a rule about the rhino that wasn't considered, that it in no way looks like it can hold 10 dudes. The Wave Serpent looks bigger than you think because of the fins, but in reality its storage is like 2/3rd the side of the rhino.

The Devilfish has an underslung gun because the Tau were originally designed to evoke modern or near-future speculative warfare, inspired by the Gulf War and similar conflicts. High mobility and firepower with low sticking power, military drones, markerlights, "powered armour" that's more of a gun platform, a tight OODA loop, "local assets", etc. In the same vein, the Devilfish and Sky Ray are direct sci-fi reskins of attack helicopters; rather than the APCs that Imperial factions took from World War-era combat, the Tau were drawing from the imagery of Afghanistan and Vietnam. The underslung burst cannon evokes the nose guns you might see on Hind or Chinook helicopters. Look at the side hatches of the Devilfish, and imagine one of them open with a Fire Warrior door-gunner leaning out.

Third edition rules had rules for making up your own tyranid monsters. I made a giant monster that could carry 12 genestealers and had a blast cannon. The fact that tyranids dont have a transport at all is a huge dropped ball, one that 17 year old me recognized without even thinking about it.

Now I want to 3d print a tiny dodge ram emblem to stick on the bumper of my impulsor (even though I'll never use it)

I actually converted an Impulsor to a tracked version and ordered a resin kit to close the back of it (yeah, it looking like an average American pickup truck didn't sit well with me either). The conversion looks surprisingly cool, but the downside is I don't want to convert more of them just to have a series of bad transports that I may not be allowed to use depending on who I'm playing. Especially when investing in deepstrike squads or droppods is actually better gameplay-wise (which also prevents the horrible experience of having to use the Impulsor's guns). So, I'll stick to the one conversion as like a nice piece in my collection that represents me rejecting GW's silly approach to a Rhino replacement. If they just upscaled the Rhino slightly and didn't go into the weird "hover tank" direction I would've just been happy. Also, I really wouldn't see the harm in just allowing old Rhino models to be used and carry a very limited selection of Primaris units like intercessors, but then that wouldn't enable GW to sell transport models for Space Marines. But yeah, the Impuilsor is pretty much a Rhino but "more Rhino than a Rhino".
