Love vintage shirts. Polyester is great, won't shrink, fade. I am a seamstress. What I notice (and like)about vintage clothing is the shoulder seam is in the proper place. What Katie is wearing is a good example. It is at the very top of the shoulder. That makes it elegant and fit properly. Check some vintage silks. They have staying power. I found a Shark brand hand-held steamer thrifting.($3.99!) I use it for wrinkles for clothes, curtains, even cleaning! Sewing is not hard. Get a machine, learn how to thread it. Usually that diagram is on the machine. That way you can alter clothing too. I'm considering adding long sleeves to dresses I find. I had that track suit in green. Also everyone said matching jackets and skirts suits are out of style, but I'm not listening!

Love to see others who are as crazy about old things as I am! I love going to thrift stores and antique shops and finding old clothes! There is nothing nowadays made to last that way! And certainly, as you said, MODEST! My dad always says about the holey jeans, "If you want holes, I'll cut 'em for you!" I agree, I totally could grow up anywhere from the 1910s- 1950s. So disappointed sometimes that I live in the 2020s. But then I remember that God puts everyone in the time where they work best in His beautiful plan. Needless to say, I very much enjoyed this video! So special you have so many things from your grandmother!❤️

I absolutely Love you all! You remind me of me (growing up) in so many ways. I grew up in the Applachian mountains of WV and also lived in Bryson City, NC area for about 10 years. My daughter lives in Sylva, NC and I visit her regularly. I currently live in middle Ga. I just recently came across 60 years of vintage items while helping a friend clean out her Mother's house, to get rid of these items. She was definitely a shop-aholic and hoarded 60 years worth of stuff. So many clothes and lots still have the sales tag on them! There is a huge amount of dresses, skirts, slacks, scarves and accessories... and more. Also found about 20 handmade aprons, I believe are for a child. Her Mother used to sew alot so my guess is some of the clothes are handmade too. I'm saying to my friend, " the Pressley girls would love this and this and this, lol. My friend asked me " who are the Presley girls" so I had to go to the internet to introduce you all to her. Anyway, if you think you may be interested in any of this stuff you can let me know. I can send pics of the stuff. We can definitely work something out if you don't mind paying for the shipping and a very, very low price on any of the clothing. Also, I can bring items with me when I visit my daughter and we could meet somewhere local to you, there in NC. If you have any interest in any of it and would like pictures just let me know. Thanks and God Bless 😁

That Penney's Classic dress fabric has the moon phases on it! Great find! I haven't bought any thing new in decades (except underwear). I still wear clothes I bought new back when I was your age and a little bit older. Good quality, take care of it, and it will last. This was fun!

I've been watching the channel, and the shirt that was in the picture Katie had on was an ACTIII original made from materials run by Buite Knitting in Upstate SC. The plant closed in the early 80's. Love the love you show the clothing from yesterday ❤️ 💕 😍 ♥️

I always feel like I was born in the wrong decade (70’s). But the more I watch you ladies, and see that you just said you feel like you may have been born in the wrong decade. I really don’t think so. Your values and ideas are the values that we need to day. I am a few years older than y’all but we all need to carry on our ways. It’s refreshing to see how your dressed. My wife and myself and not tattooed (not a single one). And dress just like we always have we don’t follow trends and we do what is comfortable and relaxing. Sometimes if you have a collar sticking up , bottom hem is curled up , or the button area is curled , you can pray it down with a water bottle and shape it with your hands then let dry . If that fails Gran your curling iron it works great for that .

Hi girls.....just found your channel. I graduated high school in 1974 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. All miniskirts. I hated them...(prepubescent boys stood at bottom of stairs hoping to peek up your dress as you go up...yuck) Anyone wearing something below the knee....midi....got laughed at. Bell bottoms had to be touching the floor or you would be "waiting for a flood". I taught myself to sew in the late 70s after moving to Dallas, Texas. Had 2 favorite patterns. Made about 10 dresses from each. Fabric bought at Hancock fabrics for $1.00 a yard poly/cotton... no iron....mostly calico.....dresses cost $3....no zippers or buttons. I called one style my 'Washer Woman' dress. Below knee length.....elastic waist ..... matching tie belt....mostly floral fabric. Fun fact.....I am now 65 years old back in Wisconsin and still have some of the dresses in a suitcase in the attic. I was 100lbs soaking wet in my 20s......not now. I still look for the patterns in thrift stores in any size.....no luck....I wore the old ones out with pins. Been thinking about making a quilt using them.....or may sell them to a very slim person. Love the music girls...... i am looking to move near the Smoky mountains someday. Have a friend in East Tennessee. She's forever trying to get me out of my grandma floral blouses. new subscriber.....Karen

I have old dresses that were my grandmother’s, some of which she made, she called them “house dresses,” they were for working around the house. She never wore trousers in her adult life, wore a dress and pantyhose every day, and kept her hair in a bun! Anyway most of those dresses don’t quite fit me great (I’m top heavy so to speak) but I’ll never get rid of them! Hot polyester in Florida summer doesn’t quite work anyway! 🤣 I also got a ton of old polyester shirts from my dad, button up that have some wild 70s prints and I love them all!

Thrift stores are my favorite places to shop for clothes. I haven't worn a lot of polyester, for I'm afraid it'd be too hot. I try to go for cotton as much as I can. I haven't paid much attention to style, but I'm liking some of what you're choosing. I really need someone to help me figure out what looks best on me, for I'm a t-shirt and jeans sort of person.

Cute stuff! Vintage is a huge trend in Nashville but its gotten to ridiculous prices and i cant even anymore with it 😂🤦‍♀️. Yall are lucky you still can find good stuff at thrift stores in your area. These vintage flip stores are out of their minds with their pricing. Im super into 70s bell bottoms and short skirts. As far as holes in the back of shirts that you see at target and stuff, try layering them. Thats what I do. If its a solid, wear a floral print Tee underneath. I have too many clothes 🤦‍♀️ its a problem lol. I need to have another yard sale. #imramblingonlikeatruesoutherner

I don't know much about clothes, but I too love stuff from the 60's and 70's. I was born in 1980, but if I could have chosen a year to be born in it would have been about 1960 so I would've got to be a child in the 60's and a teenager during the 70's. I love to collect and work on anything "vintage". Things were built so much sturdier and made to last. It's also a lot easier to get parts for things made back then as they were meant to be repaired and not thrown away. So much of the stuff made today you can't even work on yourself. Even tractors and agricultural equipment are made so that only dealers with expensive tools can troubleshoot problems, only to sell you on throwaway parts that cannot be fixed. Cars have become the same way. The days of fixing things yourself has unfortunately gone by the wayside. Sadly we have become a throwaway society for just about all of the goods that we buy. It's good to here that there are folks like y'all who have such an affinity for all things vintage, even though there are things from the modern world we would hate to be without. Loved the video. Hope y'all have a blessed day.

Yes that’s exactly it! In the day you could fix things, but now everything is meant to be thrown away so you can’t even fix it, it drives me crazy! Yes the 60’s and 70’s would have been an awesome time to be alive. Thanks for watching! 🙏🥰

Glad you mentioned about the breathability of polyester. It truly was a 'sweatsuit' & sticky. Fun for you to wear now though. We used to say they are too LOUD. I wouldn't ever wear them. The non ironing & lack of wrinkles made it so popular. Women used to spend hours over ironing boards & hot irons. This was fun girls. Glad you enjoy them tho. 💋❤️ "Polyester power'. I graduated High School in '75 so all of that is right up my alley. The dress you believe was a mini dress from the sixties is definitely a 60s mini dress. Simplicity had a pattern for that dress and all of us girls had dresses made from that style. Some were in wools for winter, others in cotton prints for summer. We had tons of fashion belts to wear at the waist in bright colors, plastic rings chained together, tied belts with fringe. Total blast from the past. It was THE dress in junior high for us. The blouses were the stable of every lady's office wear. You would have solid-colored slacks, skirts, and blazers then brighten them up and show your "style" by picking fun patterns and colors for the blouses. Every girl in the 70s learned the hard way that you did not iron polyester.

Spinning and dipping on the dance floor to the Bee Gee's music was one extremely hot sweaty time, with the songs lasting 15 minutes or more. Non breathable Polyester shirts, bell bottom pants and 2" sole shoes. Wish y'all could have been there, it was a fun time. God Bless y'all for loving and appreciating this time period and the clothes that my girlfriends wore! P.S Katie, I still have my purple baggy track suit with LSU logo on it! Go Tiger's 🐯

There is a great deal to appreciate and admire about you girls, and one of the many things is your choice of modest, classic, vintage attire. And when you're wearing it you make it look great. Even when you're working or relaxing around home and wearing your most casual attire (feeding the chickens, tending the garden, fishing rocks out of the creek, having a picnic in the woods with your parents, practicing your instruments, or whatever you're doing), you always look good; never cheap or tawdry. Kudos to both of you for being yourselves, and not letting contemporary, fleeting and/or stupid fads and "fashion trends" influence you. That includes your noisy 1980s track suit, Katie. ;^)

I graduated in 1984 From high school. I use to wear vintage clothes all the time! I had a baseball button up top like n.y. Yankees or something with the official lettering. It was thick, I remmeber and old. Probably was worth sordmthing lol I remmeber my coach loving it and was like where’d ya get that? I’d wear it with jeans to school. I didn’t care. Lol I wore green army pants like hot lips wore on mash. I had Icelandic sweaters. Everything was garage sales. There was a brand I loved though, called gunny sax. I think that’s how ya spelled it, but it was expensive and I did get a skirt that’s was blue n white floral and a white top with lace. It was like a combination of 70s and Victorian looking. Check out that brand! It was a special treat to get that new ... love your clothes Andrew what a fun video! I grew up where my daddy didn’t like me wearing short stuff, etc. modesty. I’m still that way. You girls are a hoot! Keep it up!

I agree, shopping now brings empty hands. You held up my favorite style. Collar and button down the front. Love polyester! Began in late '60's. I made a lot of my clothes then. Polyester was sooo easy. No ironing! And no wrinkle. I was sewing polyester blouses, pantsuits and dresses when I met my future husband in 1970. We married in 1972. I still loved polyester or polyester blend. Our first child was born in 1974 and made some of my maternity clothes. Again polyester mostly. What I loved about sewing with it was it didn't ravel when you cut it. Well that is enough about polyester. 😂😂. Enjoyed your video very much. So glad you are able to find things you like. ❤️❤️

If you see an old TV program call Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In, you will see a very young Goldie Hawn with outfits like some of the ones you’ve shown us. Loved the memory lane fashion show!!! Your Granny would have gone into the fabric store and spent a long time looking over the bolts of fabric before finally picking out something she really, really loved. And she would have driven home thinking about making that dress.💜💜💜

This video was so fun, especially the bloopers! I just really love your whole family. From watching many of your Mom's videos, I discovered that she and I were born in the same year and, interestingly, got married the same year also. So the 70s was my first decade of life. It was so groovy! (J/K, I never really talked like that.) Just a few highlights: The only polyester I remember having was my church suit, which was navy blue. I remember it as hot and scratchy, and I couldn't wait to get home and get out of it. One outfit I remember from the early 70s was a burgundy pair of corduroy pants I wore with a mustard yellow turtleneck. In the late 70s my brother had a wine-colored satin disco shirt with a little yellow half-sun sewn onto the left chest, and I thought it was so cool I wore it to school without his permission. It was not worth the butt-kicking I got. In the early 80s, terry cloth shirts became popular and I had a few of those, but they were kind of scratchy. It was like wearing a bath towel. Yikes! It was a great time to grow up, thanks for bringing back memories!

Thanks for showing us your lovely outfits! Your Granny is so talented- that 3 piece brown suit she made is my favorite. And I like the black blouses (the ones with the same pattern, but one short sleeved and the other long). I wear mostly cotton because where I live, polyester would stick to my skin. But it'd be a perfect choice for the fall/winter. Like you, I get frustrated shopping in stores where everything's low-cut and not put together very well. I wear mostly capris pants; skirts and dresses. You girls are hilarious!! Haha! God bless!

This sure brings back memories! I made and wore all kinds of polyester clothing! I learned to sew at age 15 and made all my own clothes from then on. I will not tell you the year but it was a long time ago! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Your mother has all my old pictures maybe some time we can look through them together.

I have bought and sold many things over the years. For a number of years I was a local picker, here in my area. I can say that vintage items were my favorite items to buy & sell. I'm happy to see young ladies like both of you, talking about wearing modest apparel. Sadly I don't hear enough like that, these days. Love your videos. Hi to mom & dad. Blessings. Rick in N.H.

Love getting to know you better. Born in 1957 graduated high school in 1975. Not much of a fashion guy....I've worn bib overalls and flannel shirts most of my life. My mom would yell at me that I couldn't wear my denim bibs to church. So I went out and bought a pair of all white painter bibs to wear to church with a nice shirt and tie. Its no wonder she had grey hair!
