Forgotten 1964 Sikkim Border Crisis showed India was getting spine back after defeat in China war

Less than two years after the war of 1962, China began pushing troops into Sikkim - then an independent country, protected by India - and held out threats of conflict. Then, just-defeated India did something no one expected: It held its ground. This would lead to a spiral of region-shaping consequences, ending with Sikkim being merged with India a decade later.

Mr. Swamy your not looking at your audience while reading the text wherein your eyes are pointed around 11 o’clock position looks really bad. It is suggested, place the text screen directly in front of you at eye level facing the audience for better audience viewer experience.

What's the need to put so much stress in saying "humiliating defeat"? Just get over it man. China too suffered a HUMILIATING DEFEAT in 1967. But they never say it like u guys.

Bollywood should continue to make the story of 1977,1987,1997,2007,2017,2027. In 1963 the Chinese army all went east to fight against the US. Did the Indian army fight against the Chinese air in 1967? hahaha🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

In 1967, after the conflict ended, the four-day "67 conflict" soon caused controversy in India because India failed again this time. However, in order to appease the Indian people, the Indian government actually beautified this conflict into a "great victory", exaggerated the number of Chinese casualties, and promoted it domestically. Because the Chinese side did not enter the Indian territory near New Delhi this time, the Indians did not know how the battle was fought, so they believed the government's lies. Anyway, the Congress Party achieved its goal of using the conflict to strengthen its position. Behind the scenes, the Indian army has since become more aware of the depth of China's strength. In the 20 years since this time, the Indian army has never taken the initiative to provoke on a large scale on the border again.

It can be pushed back, but it can be at a great cost to both the sides, including debilitating impact on resources and time. And it's not wise. India won't do it. Hence, the tactics India could or may adopt is to improve deterrence. And make it very costly for the 2 neighbours for any misadventures.🙏

Kargil happened during BJP rule, Dhoklam happened during BJP rule, Galwan happened during BJP rule, Our enemies has clearly understood that barking dog doesn't bite, and from the words of Jayashankar the world has understood that the current Indian team does not have the tooth. In the meanwhile, the IT cell is busy making Indians believe that Galwan valley was lost during Nehru's time. Even the government went to the extent to not allowing Sonam Wangchuk to go to the borders to show China occupied areas.

@@cheramanirumborai7181 They know that barking dogs don't bite, and do their ground work before taking up this kind of excercise. Now, China is happy with the current government, because any incursion that the Chinese perform, would be accounted under Nehru, giving them a better hold on the occupied territories. BJP when it came to power in 1998, tested the neuclear bomb, that was already in the arsenal, and started to reduce the defence spending. This apart from the mindless shuffling of officers in Kargil gave the Pakistanis the perfect opportunity to plan an incursion in Kargil.
