I agree that they need their own original songs to break out in the industry. However, this is a singing competition, right? So the most impressive singer leaves the mark. The singer that leaves the best impression and connects with the audience the most, wins. Whether it's through power singing or storytelling. They should have a songwriter competition, then things would be different and would set up the singer for a successful career. I remember seeing many idol winners disappear after winning, only a few made it.

Well, she does write her own stuff.
