Shpongle. Never heard of this until now, and thankfully have finally heard of this. Listened through once; this is the immediate second. What a sound! My son walked by and asked "why are you listening to Psytrance?" Says it's very popular in Sweden. Allrighty then. Aural treats for walking with the king. I'm all in.
@MrAnakindra14 күн бұрын
Please don´t get this wrong, but this is actually not Psytrance. Its called World Music, a genre which evolved somewhere between 2005-2010 through the work of Simon Posford, Ott, and some other "traditional" Psytrance artists. If you want to hear "real" Psytrance, go the Simons early albums, like the The Lone Deranger. But there are many, many more... Doof, Talamasca, Prometheus, Astral Projection, Man With No Name, Infected Mushroom, Green Nuns of the Revolution, and also the "younger" artists like Tristan, Laughing Buddha, Avalon, Liquid Soul, etc.. if you prefer a bit "softer" sound, Sweden is a place to go to for Psybient (or Psy Ambient), amazing projects like Solar Fields, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Vibrasphere etc. And if you want to stay in the genre of World Music, you should definitely check out the project Younger Brother (Simon Posford and Prometheus), Ott ( www.discogs.com/artist/27862-Ott) and a younger artist called Globular (great talent). Basically, all the "Fathers" of Psytrance come from the UK and Israel. Sweden emerged as a Trance hub in the period from 2000-2010. That being said, I´m so happy for you discovering this amazing music genre and I´m wishing you an amazing acoustic and extrasensory journey through this colorful world!!! God bless!
@tauncfester302210 күн бұрын
@@MrAnakindra Um.. hasn't World Music been around since the late 80's and 90's? The Dead can Dance and other bands were doing similar stuff ages ago. There was a program on NPR in the 1990's called World Music. I mean if you really want to delve a few decades back into World Music, Weather Report's Mysterious Traveller, Black Market and Heavy Weather albums.

There's no such thing as drugs... Just synthesized plants... The effect of plants on the humans who eat them is ancient and common to everyone, take wheat for instance, the ancients who found wheat immediately started building city's after investing wheat and wheat mould. Common plants are just the most common psycho active ingredients in the human world, tea, bread, coffee, milk, beans, lentils all psychoactive. We are the mould that eats other mould that eats other mould that eats us. Mouldy old dough is the psychoactive of psychoactives. The missing link in primordial mutations leading to homo erectus and milk leading to homo sapien. There are no drugs, just synthesized plants.

I've discovered several artists now that fall into this general genre (recently Ott, Younger Brother, for example). But this album was my introduction to the whole thing, and it has a special place in my memory. I bought it on CD without ever having heard it, because someone whose ear I trusted insisted that I should have it. I remember very well what happened when I got home with the disc. I inserted it, sat in front of my speakers... and when Dorset Perception began, my jaw dropped open. It kept dropping open again and again for the next hour and nine minutes, while I sat there, saying not a word, not moving from my seat, until the whole amazing journey was over. I have very eclectic tastes, so there have been quite a few times in my life when I've found a new way that music can be (for example, Weather Report). But usually it takes a little time to get accustomed to a new sound. Only Tales of the Inexpressible smacked me around the head and immediately woke me up in this way. It was like losing my virginity again.

Once, my best friend fell into a coma. I traveled hundreds of miles to the most powerful shaman. I gave him two hundred dollars, a bag of jewels, quarter ounce of chronic, and a pack of cherry blunt papers. In kind, he gave me a parchment wrapped in the skins of wild animals and told me to make sure he can hear it. Upon my return, he had grown a full beard, white hair, wore a bandana, and changed his name to Sisco. I began to unwrap the parchment in overwhelming curiosity of its contents. I wonder what is in here, peyote cactus buds, a sacred crystal wand of healing, a old book of mystic incantations? Smells like wet cats for some weird reason, once the final skin was removed, it was a 1983 Walkman with a CD of Shpongle, you have been shpongled. Needless to say my friend is still in a coma, but I jam every second to shpongle on my ancient Walkman! Yeah.

Somehow this both helps me concentrate and relax... I love the interweaving of the multiple sound texture threads. I listen to this often and never get tired of it!
