It's so cool how you can almost start tripping again just listening to music that you remember hearing while tripping. Further proof that the substances only release things that are already inside us.

Not exactly, but close. Some drugs cause a release of our own neurotransmitters, like MDMA triggers a release of serotonin. Things like Psilocybin and LSD are neurotransmitter analogs. They trigger nerve cells like a neurotransmitter but do not really trigger the release of existing transmitters. In either case you are causing your brain to process things differently, and the brain is plastic, new connections and patterns of firings are formed and can be retriggered long after even without the help of psychotropics.

For those who are curious; at mark 21:10 something is being said. It's Dutch, saying: "We can speak fluently because we can listen along to our own voice. Our voice is being "reported" back to our brain (note: after hearing), therefore we can verify it." I translated it freely, hope it still makes sense anyway. :) I think it's pretty accurate apart from the (maybe) weird grammer.

OTT is an auditory and compositional genius, he puts today's "artists" to shame by a long shot, and influenced a new genre that inspired favorites like Shpongle and globular, and probably a lot more I've never heard of. It's amazing OTT does most of everything himself, if you've ever tried using programs like Logic Pro x or garage band,,, you'd see what a tremendous task it is. Keep it going OTT! and I wish one day I can make it to at least half your level.

As a music composer , albeit a rusty one, making music like this can be difficult to get inspiration and even harder to put that down into a track. You have an idea of what you want the track to sound like but can offen end up on a completely different path. Be interested to know if Ott keeps to the plan or if he goes off on tangent as I do....

Ott has always been one of if not my favorite Psydub Downtempo Artist of all time, I love his music so much, and i love every song hes ever produced so when i go to listen to his stuff I always just pick whatever album of his I'm feeling and then just listen to the album all the way through, His Music is that good! His stuff is so unique to even it's own genre! It's a shame that that this music is considered weird to Normies that listen to Mainstream stuff, not that theres anything wrong with that, people can like whatever music they want I just use the word normie because well...i dont know about anyone else but for me personally I'm the only person I know that likes this stuff, and whenever I show this stuff to someone they always say my music is weird lol pretty much everyone I know isnt into this type of music or even knows about it and it kinda makes me feel different lol, its whatever though I honestly just wish more people could see and appreciate this Psychedelic music cuz it's just such a masterpiece, I can say the same for Shpongle as well!

Masha Mizzi I have to agree. I respectfully think Shpongle is the most over-rated musician in psybient music. I don't know why Shpongle has always been king in this genre. I'm not hating, still think Shpongle is good, but there is so much beauty out there in psybient/psydub. Shpongle is not even in my top 10 for psybient producers/music... But, as the saying goes: Different Strokes For Different Folks.

Eddie McCandless the better your music the more you are ignored/unknown (this is also true if your music is rubbish) - i think shpongle whilst having some very good tracks are very over rated - often the people who like shpongle have never heard any OTT or CBL or Aes Dana or...etc etc Tipper... i rest my case...

***** "The only reason Shpongle are seen to be so great is because they set the standards, they planted their flag before most others"... You might to be onto something here. Posford def was one of the original pioneers in the psybient scene. Plus he has always gotten crazy backing for his live shows- gets top notch lighting/stage props etc...That alone, helps him, as he is always high-up on festival lineups. I sort of think of Shpongle as being the psybient equivalent of the Beatles in a strange way. One of the first, so constant recognition and praise. But one of the best? I personally don't think so. Sometimes it feels like the "psychedelicness" is forced in his creations. Music is subjective though. So that is just my opinion.. Shulman would be one of those artists I would put in my top 10. Here are some others that I enjoy quite a bit: Solar Fields, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Ott (yeah), Koan, Cell, Bluetech, Globular, Kalpataru Tree, Androcell, Stellardrone, Akshan, Kalya Scintilla, Astropilot...Etc Etc. Sure I'm missing some names..My recent favorite discovery is Ascendant (thanks to the Muse). I think the one thing that we can all agree on is this genre kicks ass. There are no boundaries. No rules. Cheers.

Sheppo he will get paid a packet to play live at festivals all over the world - dont feel too bad for him but for people who dont get paid to play live but release music it really sucks....electronic artists make cash mostly from playing live and getting music on TV - in ads and selling merch - they get almost nothing from digital distribution these days unless you are a HUGELY well known musician....

+Shane Oltmanns hey ;) OTT is Psy-dub , from years. OTT is THE Psy-Dub group number one, with Sphongle, Bluetech, and more. Dub means... a lot of things. "The instrumental tracks are typically drenched in sound effects such as echo, reverberation, with instruments and vocals dropping in and out of the mix" (wiki). more "The many-layered sounds with varying echoes and volumes are often said to create soundscapes, or sound sculptures, drawing attention to the shape and depth of the space between sounds as well as to the sounds themselves" etc etc. bass, drums, echoes, many effects, re-works. this is dub, and OTT is psychedelic too, Psydub, for friends ;) IMHO ...
