Losing with dignity sportsmanship and knowing you gave absolutely everything you had in you makes you way more of a winner and a man than any number on a record or scoreboard or stat sheet ever could. I would know. High-school record was 1-36 or something 😂 but I still played college ball on scholarship. So did everyone else who worked their ass off. People look at you when you make an impact on the field. I had people from other teams telling me how fun it was to watch someone play man defense like that or run that fast at my size. YOUR GRADES WILL CARRY YOU FARTHER THAN THE CLEATS EVER WILL. And be ready to hang up those cleats and don’t look back when it’s time to go.

very well said. i remember when me and my buddy Brandt were the only two sophomores in the huddle at our first varsity game and our qb Kyle was so collected and made all of us relaxed and efficiently reminded us of our assignments. Later in the season he was rolling out and got hit and broke his collarbone, played two more plays and never complained enough to bring attention to himself like some players. huge respect for him and all the other players that have that knowledge of the game and maturity at that age.

At least it was in the hands of the offense with a chance, and not losing your only high school playoff appearance by a missed extra point! But the freshman kicker that missed that extra point for us went on to be a D1 kicker in the SEC. Moments like this break hearts but also create DRIVE,and DETERMINATION and BONDS that can never be broken. High school football is so much more than just a game.

Hey At least they got to play I was a sophomore Started all year on an undefeated team A team so good there wasn't even another sophomore or junior on the team cause we were so stacked Thanks giving game meant nothing We had already clinched our spot for our division finals ( super bowl ) Us first string guys were only supposed to play the first quarter Then rest for the final game in two weeks I went in on a tackle and dislocated my shoulder and ripped my bicep in half Had to take an ambulance and my shoulder was out of the socket for 45 minutes Our trainer tried to pop it back in but couldn't Took 3 nurses pulling my body with a bed sheet around me and two doctors with a band around my arm Needless to say I had to watch my team win the super bowl from the sidelines in a sling Took two surgeries to fix it Hundreds of hours of physical therapy to get ready for next year but after the first two weeks of practice I knew my shoulder would never be the same It fuckin killed me I was Devastated At the time Even as a sophomore with two years left to improve college scouts had already been talking to my coaches and parents But that was all over with I stayed on the team as an injured player Was still practicing but on no contact After riding the bench for 4-5 games I just said I can't do this I'm 40 now I now have my own kids playing in high school And even after all this time it still gets to me And not even the loss of a scholarship Just working so hard all that year and then right as the pay off was coming ( playing in the super bowl ) it just got taken away like that I would've given anything to just play in the game , even if we lost

This is perfect timing. Last night we just lost the championship game for soccer and we came into the game confident since we knew we could beat the other team. They came out and scored in 15 seconds exactly. Some of the players said they gave up after that even though there was still over 79 minutes to play. We played one of the worst games of our lives and im not overexaggerated. Im a freshman, so I didn't play, but i cried after that since we made it so far but had to go out that way. I felt so bad for all the seniors, and over this season, I became good friends with most of those seniors and it hurts thinking that they are gone. Was that Aaron Rodgers? Because you seem to be expecting the QB to be able to fire a 25 yard diagonal bullet across his body while being chased to the right, from almost the right sideline to the opposite side of the field in the end zone where the 1:1 matchup is. Most NFL QBs can’t make that throw. This isn’t Madden 24. It’s a high school QB.

@@boss_tum look where the “open” receiver on the end zone is. He’s one on one, but by the time a throw gets there, there will be multiple defenders there. The big issue was that pass protection broke down immediately and QB was straight up running for his life to his right. Most HS QBs can’t even throw on the run at all, let alone across their body to opposite direction, which is where all the other receivers were. Which receiver did you have in mind? You can see all of the ones that have a shot at the end zone. And this is final play of game, it has to be a TD.

Similar thing happened to my school when we played out final game, we weren’t gonna make the state playoffs but we decided it’s be better to go out on a win than a loss, I was a junior and now I’m a senior but I just remembered only 10 seconds left on the clock, Forth and a mile. Coach decided to go all out Essentially a Hail Mary. QB drops back, times ticking down if we score here we’ll win the whole game. QB throws it up, one of our receivers catches it right as time expires and he goes to run it into the end zone, open field ahead of him. The sideline is going crazy cheering him on the whole way… the. He gets tripped up at the five and was ruled down at the 1, that experience of feeling like I got shot in the chest by the way I felt my heart drop will always stick with me. Everyone was upset, some of the seniors even fell to there knees and cried since we were so close to finishing the season out on a win and for most of them, it’d be there last time probably ever playing football

It’s all apart of the experience. You win some and you lose some.
