hey Rob, finally splurged on a Fitbit Luxe. I just wanted a smart band that also shows me the time & has a timer. I also needed a good sleep tracker and an average heartrate and exercise tracker. I didn't want a bulky watch. I am not someone who is going to keep looking at my watch and would rather look at the data later in my phone. This does have a tiny screen (I use +1.25 reading glasses) but the basic stuff I can see without glasses thanks to the colour screen. The price difference between Inspire 2 and Luxe is not too much now (30% more). I was sold to the premium feel as this is a one time splurge - can't keep spending a fortune buying smartwatches. Overall, this is good size for my small -medium size wrist and I am SO happy about this. I had almost bought an Honour band before seeing your review :-) Plz keep up the good work - cheerio ✌️ I would like to hear from anyone who has used for swim tracking - plz share your feedback.

Super good review! Thank you! Also good to know is that the Inspire 2 bulks out in the back, the Luxe doesn't.. For me that was a dealbreaker, on my small wrists that made a huge difference in feel, I actually bought the Inspire 2 first but returned it after just wearing it for a couple of minutes, I could never have that on all day. Hi Quantified, I love the reviews. I wonder, however what you think of the calorie counting. I have a fitbit charge 4, but the calorie burn estimated seem grossly overblown. What's your opinion on that?
@user-mz7xo6ez7m2 жыл бұрын
Calorie burn estimates will only be so accurate as it’s based off BMR calculations which will vary in accuracy from person to person anyway, combine this with the error you’re inevitably going to get from the other metrics the Charge records to estimate calories burned and the estimates will be even less accurate. If you’re particularly tall, heavy, muscly, active, anxious, eat a high protein diet, etc these could all be factors which could increase the measurements you’re getting and increase your actual BMR too. If you lift weights while wearing it, it will also overestimate HR which will lend to an overestimation of BMR too. However, a study by Aberystwyth university did show the charge 3 overestimated calorie burn by about 53% while walking but for jogging it showed less error, 4%. The same issues might apply to the 4. Any wearable device’s BMR estimate won’t be entirely accurate, unfortunately you would have to experiment with how you wear/use it to see if this changes the estimates it gives you, compare data with another more accurate tracker, or use the estimates it gives you to plan diet and see if your weight increases/decreases as a result (the only real way to optimise any calories burned estimate). I imagine it’s accuracy would be harder to scientifically measure (you’d need accurate BMR and accurate activity data) and even then, those results wouldn’t be as generalisable as the ones he can produce for it’s other features. I could be talking absolute bollocks though
