An Indian student at the University of Cambridge, Rishi Rajpopat, recently made headlines for solving one of the greatest puzzles in Sanskrit grammar, which has evaded scholars since the fifth century BC. In an interview with The Quint, Rajpopat explains why the puzzle was not solved for 2,500 years and how he decoded it.

His paper is still not peer reviewed.. how can such claims be made

Peer reviewer already said he misunderstands old rules and his rules only working in few words so i think it's nonsense to do this type of publicity and also some sanskrit scholar says there is no puzzle he just creates his own rules understand better likes others did in past ..

Sir some scholars are saying that his claims are not true. And have asked to have a debate with the Indian scholars. Please convey this message to the claimer. (Invitation for debate is from Andra Vidwat Parishad under the guidance of HH Sri Sri Govindanand Saraswatiji). Please have a debate with them.

Scholars have confirmed that there was no 'puzzle' to begin with and nothing has actually been solved. Rishi's solution can best be thought of as an alternative model/view of the Ashtadhayayi. This is because the right-hand rule that he is proposing would have to make use of the original sutra that he is contesting in the first place, thereby negating the point of this new 'discovery'.

Sad that he had to go to cambridge and work this thesis instead of dping this at home. Shows how much we lack the infrastructure and funding of researches in India to fuel the bright untapped minds of Indians. Extremely proud of him no doubt.

India's oldest language in north india is bhojpuri, which is an inheritor of brahmi, pali of Asoka. And Tamil is original language of south India. Gond language is roots of several languages in India. Sanskrit apoears only after second century BC. Sanskrit was a code language of male priest class. You cannot call it language as such, it's a chants for invoking veda gods. Hence its use was limited to very small group of people. "Sanskritization" is adaption of diction of Sanskrit into colloquial languages.Example, sanskritised version of original Asoka is ashoka. The Buddhist king of Japan names his city osaka (Japanese pronounciation of Asoka ) by Asoka s name. There is no sho its so. River does not flow from ocean to mountain top, it flows from mountain top to the ocean Please stop giving godly status to Sanskrit. Language evolves from ordinary people. Not from top of the pyramid. Top of the pyramid appropriate s, steal and claim ownership

No, it was from 1200 BCE and 1700 BCE. The rigveda dates to that time. Tamil inscriptions were first found in the 2nd century BCE. I don't know about bhojpuri. And sanskrit was spoken amongst the ordinary people in both north and south India, since the discovery of the mittani kingdom scriptures in syria and India. Learn history of languages before saying some nonsense. Sanskrit is after all the mother of all languages

Maybe Sanskrit is India's one of the oldest Languages alongside Pali, Old Tamil or other scripts, but it by no chance defines modern India. U cherish a culture, it's heritage and it's antiquity by other methods, not by pushing it to mainstream which will make People feel that they are being enforced to feel proud of Sanskritam. U never push or force traditional culture. It comes naturally for a person to feel to preserve and showcase it. Never push traditionalism...

No one expects Xtain like you to learn and speak Sanskrit. It's an internal matter of Hindus. Sanskrit literature has came from all over India unlike other present languages.
