Historically, tifa was a tool that became a symbol of peace for the people of Papua in the past. The atowo musical instrument is played with one hand holding the atowo body, while the other hand beats the atowo using a punch technique in order to produce a harmonious rhythm. In the tradition of the Papuan people, this musical instrument is commonly used in various arts and folk entertainment

In histrory, Papuan ancestors were the first to live and inhabit the archipelago in the past. Its existence can even be withdrawn when people migrated out of the African continent.
