No excuse is good enough for becoming a terrorist or insurgent turning to violence. It is shocking to hear an armyman speak this way! I dare him to say all this in front of the families of the Indian soldiers who got killed in these in surgencies. Remember, kashmiri pandits never took up weapons, instead they got themselves educated and worked hard to rebuild their own lives.

He is one of the very few who is describing more accurately about the problems of NE. I am from NE and the Indian politicians needs to step out of their typical view and acknowledge the wrongdoings and turn the NE to a new age.

I think we're getting there. I think for far too long we've had governance that was preoccupied with keeping India and Indians in a colonial Era hangup where we just sit and not progress. Slowly we're seeing the upward push and the reclamation of identity but some parts of the country were left behind in the previous administration's that are slowly getting their due. I'm convinced that if it wasn't for the current administration regardless of how we feel about it, most of India wouldn't care about what happens in J&K, in the NE, let alone now know that the NE is multiple states all with different history, people, cultures, etc. It was like that for the south at one point. Everyone just pictures south India as being Tamil Nadu in the north or at least here in Punjab. Now we know Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, etc how they're different etc. We'll get there & I think it helps to hear from people who live in the NE like yourself because now we have a frame of reference that ok you're just like the rest of the youth of India in that you want progress for your state, want jobs, want to provide for your family, etc. When the media does the talking this all gets lost. I hope we hear more and more from the people of NE as time goes on and I know many people who have even traveled there which I hope to do one day myself.

Say what you will about the BJP government but you can't deny they've done more for North East In 7 years than congress did In 70 years. North eastern states were neglected by Congress and the massacre that took place in Nagaland was ordered by Nehru. Give them some time and trust and you'll see they're different when it comes to treating North East India like the rest of the India.

The insurgencies were indirectly funded by the missionaries who's main objective is to create and exploit the fault lines. It's not fair that North Eastern students can settle, buy property anywhere else in India but other Indians cannot do the same in North East. As if the rest of India has got no culture to protect? So who really is discriminating here? Think again!

You think there are no bad people in North East. You think North East people aren't racist towards we brown people. They do exist. I from Assam and I have to say that the insurgency in Assam has almost died down after BJP and Himanta Biswa came to power. Terrorism isn't the only problem in the north east. Recently in Manipur my friend's uncle was shot to death by the mafias operating from Myanmar. His uncle was running garments wholesale factory and was asked for extortion from that Burmese mafia, he refused to give money and that mafia killed him. Nothing could have been done, his whole family was completely helpless and left to mourn over his uncle's dead body. At last the local mafia of that area warned Burmese mafia not to intervene in that area again.

Sad truth is many people in Northeast especially like in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya the people are more afraid of Indian Army than insurgent rebels. Some people even see the insurgents as vigilantes and the Army as an oppressive force. A major reason is the atrocities and crimes the Indian Army committed in the 50s, 60s, 80s towards the tribals. These things are not spoken mostly kept secret to the world outside the Northeast Region

@Abhilash Laskar first of all get out of your misconception that North Eastern states provides more resources than the rest of India. In fact northeast gets more benefit due to the GDP earned from the rest of India. Also Northeast students migrate to universities in different parts of India and for jobs which your governments are unwilling or unable to provide you. Plus how can you demand for both equal treatment and special status at the same time? A person from Northeast has equal right to buy property and settle in any other part of India. However the same doesn't hold true for other Indians when it comes to buying property or settling in some North East states. This is a largely skewed favouriteism in fever of people from North East. If you want to complain then ask why NE States should get special status compared to other Indian states? Stop asking and demanding what the country can do for you. Ask what you can do for the country.

I am from Delhi and i love NorthEasterns When i was 12-13 year old I have Also Called Northeasterns Momo or Chilly Chicken. But i was foolish that time. I'm from Assam and what this guy is saying is absolutely right. NE states has been ignored for so long that a lot of the local tribes here are fed up with the government. But as he said, if they are treated in the same manner as the rest of the India, then they easily change their minds. Terrorism?? Bro terrorism is policy of extracting external tangible goals violently. Violence is primary means.. NE issue is of insurgency, they have valid reasons to articulate own identity and seek attention of state.. Here violence come last when nothing is helping. Democratic decentralisation in their own definition is what they seek.. Means are violent and are wrong. But they are not terrorist bro. There is a reason why its termed "Insergency".

@@bikramjitvlogs72 by that logic of yours many died in Mon village in Nagaland due to int error and recently few guys were shot at by para Sf in arunachal pradesh even a video was surfaced. Few officers raped women in manipur from Assam rifles which had attachment from the army itself. Don't sugar coat the army from only a positive aspect. Our Army has done many blunders too every organisation has few share of rotten people. Insurgency has come down alot in Assam because it was given the undue recognition slowly and steadly rest of the NE states will start to flourish too

I am from Arunachal pradesh , some of you guys might dont even know where it is . Its not that we want a different country, but i dont get why we have to say everything we are indians. I don't think india ignores northeast India,i think theh dont even know we ever existed. I am born and raised in Arunachal, i dont want to study outside Northeast, because i am afraid of the discrimination i have to face, but we dont have good running colleges... I am from Assam. And from my own personal experience, Insurgency in North-East India has reduced quite a lot since BJP government came to power. Maybe most of the people feel same. We haven't seen any major terrorist activities in past few years.

So that is not something that happened because of BJP. Give credit where credit is due but don't include the entire northeast for the work the BJP did in Assam.

The basic problem of separatism comes from separate thoughts... which comes from there religion they follow.. be it Islam for jihadis and Christianity for christian converts.. BTW I agree with some points that they feel alienated or called names.. but same discrimination happens to Hindus (I'm not talking about travelers) living in Mizoram, Nagaland etc..

I'm from Mizoram Non-Mizo Tribe who follow Buddhism are treated as 2nd Class Citizens by Mizos, being Called Bangladeshi Despite being here in India before Mizoram got Statehood and Getting Autonomous District Council the same year Mizoram was declared state but still we are treated as 2nd Class Citizens, I won't blame it to Christianity tho but people are Communist there, they only care about Mizo Blood, Not Mara, not Lai, not Bru, not Chakma, Only Mizo

For those reading ‘reverse racism’ and whataboutery is never the easy answer to things. The Northeast or any borderland is vulnerable and geographically marginalised. Indigenous people are culturally marginalised without any representation. They are literally endangered and their problems are very different than problems faced by non indigenous people from culturally dominant areas living in the NE, though both problems are valid. One’s problem does not cancel out the other’s problems - it is not a competition.

I have a question in my mind for quite some time now.....***Are Indian Army jawans physically more fit than the officers???*** Because after I failed my NDA ssb, I planned to join a running class. It was then when I realised that the boys there who were aspiring to join army as NCOs were extremely fit since they were practicing for their 1600m run for couple of years now, which made me think of myself and other aspirants at SSB and some friends from RIMCOS we were not on that level. ***So is it same when they join army after being commissioned?*** So sir could you bring up this question about this officer and jawan comparative and more basically how they differ in regular regimens

It is true that generally, Jawans are much more fit at the time of recruitment than officers, because Jawans come from humble backgrounds such as villages where daily life involves a lot of physical labour. However after training, since officers are trained longer and the mindset in units regarding officers is such that if a officer cannot perform better than his soldiers, he cannot lead them. So to earn respect, officers have to be more physically fit than men in a unit.

100% i agree with that gentleman... Instead of investing 10000 crors in Afghanistan... Bhutan... Bangladesh... Also in mayanmar as aid and in return get back nothing except diplomacy... Just invest in northeast half of that amount with corruption free...in education, infrastructure, organic to maintain Nature as it is and you will see change in less than a decade. You trust me if central work on above Northeast will be the next importer and exporter hub of India.

Further, Every single state of India has been under State Emergency under Article 356 (except Chattisgarh and Telangana) at some point. We love our Indian Army to the core, always grateful for guarding us. The only that bothers me sometimes are the instances of disunity and racism within ourselves largely due to lack of communications and knowledge. As Major has rightly pointed the moment we start talking to each other we will know that our hearts beats for India the same.

The title for this podcast is wrong, there are technical differences between terrorism and insurgency. We use Insurgence for North-East not terrorism coz Insurgency is when rebellion is from within a country while terrorism is from external interference.
