Bill being gay isn’t a new thing from the show, it’s heavily implied in the game. You can find the suicide note that frank left and give to bill for closure. It reads like an angry break up letter. He calls him a “partner” and Ellie steals a gay porn mag from bill before they leave. Putting all that together it’s pretty obvious. People who got mad about the Bill episode either never played the game or just didn’t pay attention while playing and it went over there head cause I remember people discussing it on forums way back in 2014, it’s always been known by fans

I don’t know if it’s in your wheelhouse as someone that specializes in trauma therapy, but Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has been long touted as a fantastic depiction of psychosis as a result of a traumatic event. I’m not sure if psychosis and traumatic events are linked in that way but maybe it’s worth taking a look at.

I always took Joel’s torture of the firefly guard as wish fulfillment of what he wanted to do to that soldier who killed his daughter. He lost one daughter to an asshole soldier who was “just following orders” and now he’s about to lose a second one to the exact same kind of people- again just following orders. He sees in his head a chance to right his ultimate wrong and get a kind of revenge on the people who took his entire life from him.

I think a video about David is be an amazing idea. For horrible that he is he’s also a super interesting character and actually representative of very real traumas some people have to go through because of people like David. Also the betrayal aspects, the feeling of being used and chased... I appreciated a lot your cutting out the scene honestly and the tw, but I think a video specifically on that would be a really interesting and needed one. In TLOU communities we rarely talk about David in depth and I would love to hear a professional’s analysis about this chunk of one of my favorite stories of all time :)

The way Ellie says "He tried to..." and she just starts breaking down crying. It tears my heart out every time. She was finally in the presence of safety and realized what a monster David was, and what he wanted to do to her.
