Agreed that Serfdom is an overpowered card with its +2 builder charges. If we think about it IRL - serfs were abused & exploited. So a balancing nerf could be reduced loyalty or amenities when it's plugged in

Here is a little tip for ya, when you start establishing alliances, include in the exchange any extra luxury items your ally may have. Sometimes they give them up willingly but if you ask for alot, then they might make you pay a little extra gold. I found it is a good easy way to get a bunch of luxury items for free or some extra ones to sell off.

I played a game as great britan. I basically spawned on my own little continent with a small mountain land bridge. I did not find a single country fit the first 100 turne

Why is it that every time I get a continent to myself, I'm playing as Sumeria or Rome? But whenever I want to do a cultural or science victory, I have to be neighbors with Mongolia, Aztec, and Zulu?

Potato! I beg of you, try saving your envoys till the late game and using the Diplomatic League in conjunction with the Containment card. If you send an envoy to a city state you have no envoys in, that has a suzerain of a different government (they almost always do), that will give you 3 envoys with that city state and for every 1 envoy you spend, you actually get 2. It's the most efficient way to suzerain city states and if you save enough you'll be able to suzerain almost every city state in the game using this strategy. Pairing that with the International Space Station card and the Collective Activism card will net you hundreds of extra science and culture, in my most recent game those two cards gave me 760 science and 1.2k culture. Please use this strategy to be efficient with your envoys!

Chopping with nothing being built is such a simple thing that is crazy effective. I’m disappointed in myself that I never even tried that. I always hated having to remove woods, etc. to place a district and losing the production.

Small stuff triggers -- building uni next two a mountain ~2 turns after hard researching astronomy. Saying several times NO WAY we can boost this one. Also not farming the wheat and regular floodplain boosted with extra housing goodness in Copan. This is why I have trouble re-watching my own game play...

Samarkand gives a pretty good unique improvement. Worth paying attention to those.

You should lock out other victories it makes the AI more focused and harder. If the only victory you can achieve is domination the Ai wont waste time and resources on anything else some for other victory types. I find that it makes the competition more neck to neck in every difficulty

Gilgamesh being more science than you early to mid game also doesnt mean much, I've found a lot of his science is from tile yields, which I never see scale well for the AI late game

Everyone hates the one turn sniper that the Ai can be at times if you miss calculate something, but otherwise still an amazing Maya game so far.

Its sucks being alone miss out on LOADS of era score gold and more ! Hats of for continuing after collis loss honestly i would restart they can have etemenaki collis is a must. Seeing ai make a 2 or 3 city collis makes your eyes hurt😢

I think Civ could do with megaprojects Unlocked by particular Wonders. Megaprojects have less restrictions on placement than Wonders. Build Empire spanning fortifications, after someone else gets the Great Wall. The Panama canal to access the small lake is unimpressive, but I can build a Canal Network to connect 3 oceans in my own Empire, assuming I can either follow rivers or avoid Hills and mountains. Germany built their own Canal, Britian built the Suez, the Panama isn't really the most impressive set of canals in the world. Coliseum leading to Circuses, Horse Tracks, or Stadiums to provide similar buffs on a smaller radius. Golden Gate Bridge could lead to More Bridges for infrastructure purpose. Presumably the list goes on but infrastructure should be repeatable, even if the Big Ben, Eiffel Tower and Pyramids aren't repeatable.

So I went really hard for Great Scientist Ibn Khaldun in a recent game as Canada (every city ecstatic from national parks) and was really disappointed to learn that his bonus isn't as advertised. His bonus is only 20%/10%. That is to say the total amenity bonus is only 24% and not 28%, sadly, possibly an oversight when amenities were patched. I have spreadsheets showing the empire yield differences between various happiness levels with and without Ibn Khaldun, bugged and debugged if you are curious to see them.

Now if only the continent was not so shait.

at the time you found Niter, you could have placed a city in that center area and had at least one sheep tile, two niter tiles and been on a river. I would have placed that city just to get those online that early it would have been a place and forget city. Curious as to why you didn't consider it? Edit: Looking at it closer that city could have had a sheep, wheat and niter and been on a river. 20:00

I once colonized all of North and South America, as well as most of sub-Saharan Africa on a true earth map because none of the other American civilizations spawned, granted this was before I bought most of the leader expansion packs, but I would have at least expected to run into America or the Aztecs. Granted this was on settler.

Potato, I "found" a nice mod called "Leugi's Victory Projects and Test of Time Game Mode" It adds a new mode in which u need multiple victories. I found it really nice and played a few rounds and they were really fun because I always had to plan for more than one victory. Maybe u can try it. Edit. Its on steam
