When you turned up to vote at the last election, what you did was agree to abide by the electoral process and accept the result. You selected a candidate to represent you and gave them your proxy on the understanding if that candidate was not elected, they would pass on your proxy to a candidate of their choice. You also agreed to let the popularly elected government make decisions on your behalf without any further consultation until the next Federal Election. Yes, that is exactly what you did every time you voted.
