Lots of things I consider a waste of space you could use for storage: 1. Vanity sink; 2. dinette; 3. open space for open space sake; 4. Lack of overhead storage for openess sake; 5. Failure to optimize under bed storage access from inside and out.

@@mitchjaurena4709 I agree 100%! I personally would have gone smaller with ours, but had to concede to husband’s comfort 😏 (ex. big shower). And we did create a space for our dogs (which is easily storage as well). But I nixed the dinette, and we both agreed a vanity in the bathroom is silly.

Designed after working out of sheep camps in inclement weather. You got to have a place to dry things off without wetting the rest of the camp. I added a couple of magnetic cupboard hooks to the a-frame of the rack to hang gloves from and a hook above on the wall to hang your hat to dry also.

Excellent heating redundancy with cast iron fireplace, gas furnace and electric. Two 30 pound gas tanks…much better. That there is no slide out is a huge plus, must less source of error. The shunt isn’t monitoring inverter usage? What size wire is that out of the charge controller to the batteries? Looks way undersized.
@mitchjaurena4709
@mitchjaurena4709 25 күн бұрын
I think you are looking at the input wires from the solar, which are 10 ga and more than adequate. I took an IR scanner/camera to the system while on full solar charge (bulk charging and 600 watts of solar - two 300 watt panels in series), also while all light/power usage was on and there was no indication of over heating or of heat "stress" to the wires. All of the electrical wiring I could see I scanned throughout the trailer and it did not appear to have any overheating. Yes, it appears that the inverter usage isn't being monitored by the shunt, but in my usage it will make little difference as A/C will only be used sporadically and for short periods of time. It is there more for a convenience than for daily usage. What the shunt does for me is provide an accurate battery bank SOC (state of charge) which is sufficient for me to monitor my capacity. Good eyes and thanks for the input.
@newenglandrvadventures
@newenglandrvadventures 25 күн бұрын
@@mitchjaurena4709yeah the 10ga going to the hole on the wall is definitely adequate. You can run 1000+ no problem by going up in voltage. The output side of the charger where reads battery is what’s concerning, it looks like it’s hooked up to 14ga or 16ga wire. It actually looks like it’s the wires to feed power to the shunt. At 50amps output to the battery max charge you want at least a 6ga cable from there to the battery.

Take a look at my update. If you went with an X-26 (6" wider and 2' longer) you could get more space for a bigger shower, more room at the bed and room for a double recliner and the camp wouldn't be that much bigger on the outside. I chose compact for a variety of reasons, but if you don't need to be as compact as I did, you could expand ever so slightly and make a big difference in the comfort level.

Have you ever used a pellet stove? They REQUIRE alot of clean electricity to operate. Even the cheaper low tech options like Pelpro. It would be totally impractical in a Camper . You would need a huge generator to create a constant source for the 115VAC power to run the stove.

Yep. Read the other responses. Currently Australia is placing extreme restrictions on lithium for use in habitable RVs because of the dangers. Not only do the batteries themselves, but each individual cell in the battery had to be certified. Only one battery in the world meets that requirement. I would rather not be sleeping over lithium batteries. I believe the dangers of lithium are understated. So my choice was to go with some proven AGM batteries.
@user-xo1vc9um1w
@user-xo1vc9um1w 21 күн бұрын
For what those AGM batteries cost and weight he’d be better off putting Lithium in it and get rid of that electric/ propane fridge and put in a 12v compressor fridge in it, more room without having fans in it , I know cause I did that to my rv and haven’t looked back, love more room for food and don’t have to worry about defrosting it.

With that campers front flat surface you will get horrible fuel milage transporting it.
@mitchjaurena4709
@mitchjaurena4709 23 күн бұрын
It doesn't help, but not horrible. In comparison, I get 8.9 mpg at 70/75 mph towing a R-Pod (4000lb fully loaded) and 7.1 mpg at 65/70 towing this camp (9,500 fully loaded). But if gas cost was a driving factor I wouldn't be owning a F-250 6.2l gas rig towing this camp either. If you want to go cheap, this isn't the rig for you.
@jamesbass9797
@jamesbass9797 22 күн бұрын
@@mitchjaurena4709 -- Who said anything about cheap? It's not a question of being cheap it's a question of design. Thanks for showing your ignorance. If you had a more aerodynamic design people would be able to achieve much better fuel milage with towing and you would most likely sell a lot more units for that reason alone. Then you could afford a big boy truck with a diesel engine in it and get even better milage. I actually thought you did a pretty good job with the interior space and with the added storage spaces on the outside of the camper. Good luck to you, my friend. In my estimation you're going to need it in the highly competitive camper market.
@brianlangum6253
@brianlangum6253 11 күн бұрын
@@jamesbass9797 You are kidding right? More aerodynamic design won't translate to "much better fuel milage" on a 8600 lb camper. Also unless you are towing something all the time, by the time you factor in the higher purchase and maintenece costs for a diesel pickup truck, and the higher cost for fuel, your payback will never be achieved beffore the vehicle is worn out. I have a 2004 2/4 ton Chevy Suburban with a 496 cui gas engine. I get 11-12 mpg highway empty and 8 mpg towing a 8000+ lb camper. Yea I know I'd get better mpg with a Duramax but forking over an extra $30K for it buys a lot of gasoline that's between 50 cents to a dollar cheaper per gallon than diesel to buy. As for the campers they build these days, you couldn't give me one, they'll all built like crap, with the possible exception of this brand, to me it looks like it's built like a tank and will take about anything you throw at it. $70 K for this particular unit is certainly higher than what you'd pay for something of similar size from the usual manufacturers. However 10 years from now they'll be in the junk yard and this one will just be getting broke in.

@@brianlangum6253 -- You have your opinion and I have mine. I have a 2023 F-450 with the 6.7 under the hood. I'm dragging around a 2019 DRV that weights in at 18k dry. On average I get between 13 to 15 mpg out of my truck. That is a far cry higher than your 8 mpg dragging 8k lbs. I'm not going to sit here and go through long division just to prove a point to you or anyone else on how much it costs for me to pay for fuel in a year. You want to know then you can figure it out yourself. I for one couldn't care less about it. I have the money to pay for it and I also do almost all my maintenance on my truck so my cost there are at a minimum. Practically costs. As for my DRV, I've had it now for almost 5 years and really not had any real issues with it and in my opinion, it is almost as good today as the day I bought it. I've put at least 50k miles on the camper with my travels. Try that with your 8k lb whatever it is you pull around. I seriously doubt you can make the same claim. I seen nothing in this video that would lead me to even remotely believe your claim of this trailer being in excellent condition in 10 years. lmao ...
