I was riding downhill there back in 2002 on my old Norco 2001 Norco Bomber. I need to get back and actually ride it on a modern trail bike. National is such a great trail and by the looks of it not too much has changed in the last 20 years on that trail!

i just moved here from out west. rode there all last weekend. its gnarly. It is small but packs a punch. i would say as a whole it is a very difficult bike park. i consider the trails as gnarly as any BC bike park. Salamander may even be a black at some bike parks in the lower section

Camp Fortune is definitely the gnarliest trail network in the Ottawa region, however, in the past two years flow trails (basically the only thing this beginner likes to ride😅) have been making a comeback as more new riders get into the sport! A second DH bike park with very long blue flow and black tech trails opened last summer (centre vorlage), MSM expanded their trail network to include the super flowy WU trails, and last year Domaine kanawhe in Cantley opened a bike park with a climbing trail accessing 10 amazing runs of varying difficulties. All this pressure has led Camp Fortune to “flowify” their bike park, and last summer, they made salamander and other trails MUCH more flowy and beginner friendly, in addition to building a massive jump park!!! I’d recommend Capital MTB, Bike Ninja, and Good Trails (also myself) to see how the riding in this region has changed since your last visit!!!

You know I will always hit up a new TH release! Hahaha, heading to QC early next month. Not sure I will get to ride, but great review of the park. Every ride, seeing the skills/confidence improve. Definitely relate to the hesitation on some of the features. Good on ya for still challenging yourself! Thanks for the share.

Despite your hesitation due to the injury you kept your flow and stayed on the bike. Way better then Bromont. This is the type of trails I live for. Roots and rocky jank. Flow is key on trails like this, you did great don't beat yourself up for it. Little bit faster and faster as you get your confidence back.
@ToogyHowser
@ToogyHowser Жыл бұрын
Yep! Just need to flip that switch! and going faster on some of this jank would have been way better for sure!

good jobs there. Camp Fortune is a really nice place. it help to have friend that know the mountain to show you the line. It's impossible to learn that place in one day and there are no sign in the trail.

If fred’d there, I’ll be there too! 😉 Following someone is key at Fortune, no trail signs, never know when a big feature will come etc. As knarly as it can be😁 A lot of other super technical trails too. Had fun seeing your reactions😋 Good job, take care✌️

0:23 HaHa in 2022 talking to the camera / vlogging is interesting and "normal" it would be weird if you didn't have the camera! "Dude, who's that old guy over there talking to?? He's by himself right ... Does he even have a camera?? NO, no camera, just talking. Maybe he's got an imaginary friend? or is he talking to his Rig? We all do that sometime. No, looks like he's talking to the bushes. :-) Great job getting back at it. Pushing progression.

Toogs. I wouldn't kick yourself too hard not being able to ride fortune, some of the $hit there is beyond jank, to the point of teetering on not really even being a "trail"...lol. Good place to hone your technical skills tho. But always have to be on your A game, gets a little tiring after a while, which is why I tend to avoid it, used to ride there a lot as a kid //About talking to a camera. Lmao. The most awkward thing ever, still not comfortable with it. It makes you realize how naturally, born to vlog, some of the bigger youtubers are...*cough Brian Kennedy, Seth etc. lol. I find it funny sometimes to purposely start a camera vlog around people, just to see how they react, embrace the awkwardness hahaha.
@ToogyHowser

yeah, beyond jank is right for what I saw on some of the trails lol
