Yesterday at the plenary session of the European Parliament, I did not vote in favour of the new EU legislative resolution to introduce a single birth certificate for all children. I explained the reason for my non-vote to my colleagues after the vote.
I believe it is a pointless exercise to start the problem from the end. A single birth certificate will not be able to solve cross-border problems until a single regulation on EU citizenship is adopted, which would solve the issue of Latvian and Estonian non-citizens.
