I watch you guys from Phuket, Thailand. Daily watch also from here. We are going to make the playoffs next season. This team's potential is getting scary with all the prospects in the pipeline. Team management is innovative, and many clubs are amazed by how Habs are doing this reconstruction. The future looks great for our Habs and this channel :)

I watch you guys every day from Karachi, Pakistan. I have been a hug Habs fan for the past 50 years. I remember those great teams of the 70's -- untouchable. Your positive takes are wonderful but no one on media is talking about last year's draft. I love D. R. , but we had a chance to get any of the studs from Boston College (Smith was gone) but we had a chance at Leonard, Guthier, Perrault. Any of these guys are better than anyone in our system (Beck, Mesar, Farrell, Roy, Kidney, Gignac). If we landed Lindstrom or Iginla we would be talking playoffs next year. They were bang on with Slaf but we are stacked on D. We can only have 6. Matheson, Guhle, the Sherriff, Hutson (because of the hype) untouchable. The rest would not make any other team (Harris, Barron, Struble, Engstrom). They need to unload 4 or 5 of them in the next two years before they get an injury or lose their mojo. There is no forward in Laval over 6 feet except Florian. Look at the past Stanley Cup winners. They were big, they were fast and they were deep on four lines. We don't have that. Laval was supposed to be a great team this year ... tough for them to even make the playoffs (this weekend will tell). Can you imagine a roster with one of those BC players mentioned above, Celabrini, Davidov, Iginla or Lindstom? The rebuild is over and those 16 overtime losses could easily be wins. Still would not get into the playoffs ... but closer. Hughes and Gorton are brilliant minds and have accumulated assets ... it's time to put these blue chips in and get some scoring. By the way, the Primeau we saw against Detroit in the last game was who he is ... Fowler will be here in two years and jump Monty (love the guy) who should not be given an extension under any circumstances. In summary... people will look back on the 2023 draft and say, we should have landed a forward. That forward would have been a top six in three years. Now we are one year behind. I have a feeling Hughes will make a splash at the draft ... in Kent I trust.

Mesar is nowhere close to Plekanec. Plekanec was a great 2nd line center. Played the role of a first line center for much of his career but that was because of the lack of talent in The Montreal prospect pool. Mesar will be a 4th line center at best but there again i don’t think he has the grit needed to take his game to the nhl level. I truly believe that he is overhyped and I don’t include him in my habs rebuild. He’ll end up playing in Europe and be a « what if » player. That’s just my opinion and I’ll be happy if he proves me wrong. People are also getting overhyped for Beck. He will be a third line center at best. And if we where expecting a cup contending he would be 4th line center. I like him but he is a bonified Jake Evans

@@rebeltvr6046 ill give him the chance, but i don’t see a futur for him in Montreal. Average player with no upside in terms of hockey intelligence. Also, not the attitude needed to step his game up. Complained about being sent down to juniors this year . Kid never gained a spot in the AHL and was already being a primadonna because he was sent back to his junior team. And he barely had over a point per game as a 19 year old in the CHL. Just that stat should calm your expectations on Mesar. Not being a hater at all but in my opinion Mesar will never play for the canadiens or in the nhl

I have the same hope but if worse comes to worst there's always Tij Iginla. Since a player needs the ability to improve to eventually make it to the bigs, I always compare stats year over year. Iginla has done something I've never seen before which is to up his production by 3.5 times what it was last year. And he did this all at 17 since he only turns 18 in August...and he's a center.

Because Bleacher Report says best player available at 5th is Dickenson doesn't mean Montreal will pick him because they say he's BPA. Furthermore, Hughes already said (paraphrased, reading between the lines) 'that they won't be picking a LD (only makes sense, they have enough), they can trade up, trade down'...or even just pick who they want not risking losing who they're after by them getting picked before the anticipated spot. Draft ratings never pan out anyways. If they pick for example, Iginla with the 5th pick though he's rated at about11th, they'll say they felt he was the BPA to avoid saying that the picked out of being the BPA according to they're needs (Ah-hem, Reinbacher). It's said they've interviewed Iginla 4 times already. Maybe he's plan B and they try to trade 5th, Winnipeg's or another pick and a LD to go after Lindstrom. We'll see when the time comes.

I Hope we win the lottery but I’m not holding my breath on this one. I think they will most likely make a trade to get a better pick or one to move lower and draft Iginla . I say there is a chance MTL trades down a few spots and takes Baby IGGY If Demidov and Lindstrom are gone. We don't need another Dman left or right side, offensive or not. For example, if Habs pick 5-6, they could trade with a team around 8-9 wanting a Dman, to get an addition second rounder or a good young forward prospect just to switch positions.

100% with Jesse on that Dickinson bit. There's also Adam Engström coming up, and he's been instrumental in creating the 2 biggest upsets in the SHL playoffs this season, the SHL is a much much tougher league on younger players than the OHL, in fact it's the one top european league that progressed the most over the past 5 years it's almost up there with the skill level of the NL now but with more physicality, it's surpassed the decaying KHL (and remained over the rising Liiga). In these PO he managed to get 4 assists already. He might not be as impressive down the line than a Dickinson or a Levshunov (less likely) but maybe not by that much considering the growth he's had already playing at such a level contributing to elevate his team's chances. He will most likely start with Laval first but he'll pretty soon be the very first name on the LD call-up list for us while any other D kid we would draft would require at least another year and a half of dev time if not more which does not mesh as well with our timeline.

Praying for that 1st OA pick. I know we need a high end forward, but I am adamant you take the best player available. Lots of D in the system, but can't be sure how many will pan out as top pairing. Guys you need to understand that Beck was not allowed to play in the AHL this season. 2004 born players drafted from the CHL either play in the NHL or go back to their CHL team. They are not allowed to play in the AHL. Shane wright was given an exception this year. So for Beck to play in the CHL this year as a 19 year old is totally normal. 5 or 6 first round drafts in 2022 were still in the CHL this year. It’s totally normal. If players stay in the CHL two years after they are drafted if they were drafted on their 17 year old hockey season. On their 20 year old year, which is next year for Beck, than there is a problem

Assuming top 3 is unavailable, this makes for an interesting draft. Can’t look at it with today’s roster, changes hopefully will happen. If there are trades or package of players (potentially including Harris and/or Struble) for a young talented stud, I can see Habs draft either Dickinson or Parekh. We all focused on first line but there is some depth in the system at fwd. Emergence of Newhook, return of Dach, put either Roy or Armia on the wing and you have a second line. Third line needs work, not convinced Evans/Gally/Josh are the anwser - clearly not on the wings. As for a 4th line, that is never the issue. So depth on D is an asset they should leverage. As for forward in draft, and looking at Beck and Mesar in the system (if Habs think they are true C), I like Iginla for versatility and all around game. I dont think he is a reach as he is youngest and class and will develop just fine if only because of genes. Catton an option here? Maybe but not convinced based on needs. Great work guys, very entertaining channel!

He will get better, stronger, maybe 175 lbs tops at 5-10 but without elite speed without an elite shot... way too much hype for a small aphysical player. Look at Sam Gerard's injury history. Habs already have Matheson...who is more dominant than Hutson would be. Hutson should go to Laval for a year of development then we'll see. He's behind Logan, Baron, and Reinbacher who are all over 6-2+ and 200+ lbs and have offensive chops. ...and don't forget Adam Engstrom who is 6-2 200lbs and a great skater. The Habs really don't need Hutson to make the playoffs in two years.
