The people in PA are still waiting for relief when that chemical train derailed, Ft myers Cape coral are still suffering,,,look at Hawaii Biden offered 700 to each resident, really that's horrible. I had a small house in St. Pete and after Hermine 2016, Irma 2017, Eta flooding 2020, then the evacuation for Ian 2022 I decided last year I cant deal with all these evacuations, insurance deductibles, and stress. I never flooded, but was very close many times and all my neighbors had flooded. So I sold it in May and the young couple that bought got flooded the other day. Tons of water in the house. It's really tough.

Florida's not for everyone. Long time ago, people here knew the risks of living in a flood plain so they built accordingly, usually nothing to fancy. The Flood Act changed insurance forever and allowed another group to buy in to this adventure. People don't remember living in these areas used to be uninsurable for a reason. It's going to be interesting to see what happens to the market, insurance, and bank loans. Sure wish it could go back to the way I was when I was a kid.

She was lucky. After Katrina my elderly parents waited 5 mos and never got temp housing. My daughter was the only one with a house not torn apart.

Blessings and prayers you have touched my soul and after watching the aftermath of this storm and hearing these people testify it makes me more grateful and thankful for the little that I do have and NOT to complain or worship material stuff it can be here one minute and gone within seconds. I thank GOD for life, health, and strength….LORD JESUS please continue to restore, comfort, strengthen, protect and BLESS EVERYONE affected by this storm. The neighbor next to me has a small resort and all 17 cottages were flooded thigh deep and we are 170 miles from where idalia hit. I had water rise but it was manageable because I was here and it was only in one bedroom which has wall board. I was up the street and the water kept rising but as soon as it started to recede I went home and got it out immediately. We had power so I used several industrial fans and two 4000 sq ft dehumidifiers which do an incredible job. I have a moisture meter and now it's all dry no mold or anything. Very fortunate. The other thing I was so surprised about is how little salt was in the water. I live on a river that goes into Tampa Bay but this water had very little if any salt and it was clear with no mud! I feel for anyone who has to go through this and wish everyone well in their recovery. I've been helping my neighbors who can't get around like myself.

We live in Madison County Florida, the outpouring of love from our local community has been overwhelming. Finally Biden approved FEMA for us. NowFEMA has sent in help. We just got our power back on after 5 days. My heart breaks for the people that has suffered. Madison was 100% out of power. God has blessed us in so many ways.

Horseshoe beach is a wonderful little community. The home on the canal that we’ve rented on occasion during our vacations is gone. Complete washed away…..and it was built one story up on pylons!

If you have electricity get dehumidifier units in there running 24 hours a day until the humidity of the building materials comes down to dry... Like 6 of them, emptying them multiple times a day. The biggest ones that you can get at home depot.

Ideally you want to heat the inside to aboutv95F while this is happening. A diesel furnace will do it. Probably not possible to get that equipment staged though

This is a very narrow peninsula in the keys. Extremely risky place to live.

She NEEDS to TARE out the sheet rock that is the wall. Only tare out where the water goes up to. It has got to be taking out. It will cause mold. New walls will need to be put up. Oh and new insulation too.
