Mason Rudolph is Matt Cassell, Cooper Rush, Matt Schaub, and every other backup that played solid over a short stretch of games playing for an injured starter. Not that Pickett is a franchise starter either. Neither would make me excited as a fan. Rudolph will likely get big bucks...from a second rate franchise that doesn't know how to evaluate quarterback play.

I wanted us to give Mason a real shot when we went out and got Mitch, so I'm very glad to see it turn around for him, but I don't understand how nobody is mentioning that post Canada, first with Kenny as the starter - first game, we went out and got a 400 yard game. Second game, Kenny got hurt showing heart trying to get it in. All of the trash play since has been with Mitch. I'm not saying "put Kenny in", but I feel like all of the media is just skipping past "how much of our look this year was mostly just down to Canada?"

My personal opinion after watching Kenny all season that his accuracy is not that great. For example the easy screen passes he throws behind players and other passes he just can’t put right on the money where they need to be. Also when a receiver get wide open he takes a little bit before passing the ball which is annoying because if he could process information a little faster he could have made so many more plays. Also he definitely has tendencies like the stupid spin out of the pocket to his left that only works 50 percent of the time. Anyway, just saying that yeah Canada was a moron but Pickett also had some plays that would have worked if he would have just been a better QB

I like Kenny, he had a great game against the Bengals the first time this season, next game he got hurt. We go on a 3 game losing streak because of Mitch. Kenny (I believe) is a good QB and he will continue to develop and learn. I hate that this league everyone wants an instant gratification to success. That’s not how the world works and I believe Kenny is putting in those reps and will be great some day. And I hope it’s with Pittsburgh. I say we start Kenny next season after the OC comes up with a new playbook that can work well with Kenny and Mason. Start Kenny, have Mason be the back up, and get Mitch the hell out of Pittsburgh.

No Question mark on the QB...It'll be Rudolph or KP depending on how far they go this season. No reason to get another QB if the QB's you have are working out. Matt Canada was the problem. Trubisky was also a problem. Trubisky is on his way out, and Matt Canada is gone. Find a good third stringer, and problem is solved. This team was built around KP and Rudy knows the playbook, and the Steeler way. Don't fix what is working. Since Canada left, both KP and Rudy have put up 400 yard games. That tells you it was the OC. Not the QB.

Rudolph brings 3 things to the table that KP doesn't. 1. His arm and accuracy. 2. His experience and ability to read a defense 3. His size (6' 5') and presence, and lack of fear to stay in the pocket while his o-line buys him time. That is why Rudolph is having the success he's having. It's also the reason he should be the starter going into next season. At this juncture, Rudolph gets our offense, and is having tremendous success with hit. KP just isn't there yet. Truth is, there's a chance he may never be where Rudolph is. Why take the chance on an unknown? Go with who is giving you the success, because it may not be there later.

@@Es_keet_it__Litty At the end. I highly doubt that the Steelers will do what the Jets, Broncos and Browns have done. Out of those three only the Browns are relevant now and much of that is due to Flacco - not some big name, big money, big deal "franchise" QB Watson. Seems obvious that Plan A is going to be run it back, especially on offense. Draft T, DL & CB again. Only @QB it may be Mason 1, Kenny 2. Now if they lose Mason in FA, then maybe they'll sign K. I have a theory: Kenny was better than Mitch but Mitch was raked with initially starting and Kenny learning behind him. B/c Kenny was better than Mitch, he was thrust into the starting role when he really needed more development time behind a actual good QB. Mason was never given a shot truly and Kenny (probably with a slight ego) was not paying attention to Mason. Mason who we now all know from reporters and spectators at training camp, was the best QB at camp. Mason should have been starting instead of Mitch and Kenny might have even more so prepared year 2. But due to business, Mitch was given the starting shot and failed and Kenny was rushed into before he was mentally ready.

And, they depend on the offensive coordinator to create a good game plan that exploits the young QB's talent and helps him develop.
