Nearly everyone who ever saw Luke Easter play has a story about a seemingly impossible home run that he hit.
Frank Finch, writing in The Sporting News, reported that the crowds to see him take batting practice were equaled only by those that turned out to see Stan Musial, Ted Williams, and Ernie Lombardi.

Luke Easter (1915-1979) was shot and killed at age 63 by two armed robbers while he was transporting a $5,000 payroll in checks. ⚾😢 He was a fan favorite when he played in the Puerto Rico winter ball league. 🇵🇷
