Excuse my languish everyone, but IMO the person who had deserted these poor little donkeys was in fact a real asshole to begin with and seeing you and Jami now taking it upon yourselves to take these babies to Longhorn Lesters to care for their medical needs and attempt to tame them has truly warmed my heart and soul. I actually dreamed about these poor babies and awoke to find myself crying like a baby after seeing how very cruel the one had been treated. I never imagined anything like that would ever happen to any same sex animal, but now I have actually been educated and know now that it is a very cruel fact of like in the animal world when a female is not available. Thank you, Lester, and Jami because you are two of the kindest people I have ever known to take on such a huge project as this even though you know all the challenges which may possibly lie ahead. I will pray that this new adventure will bring much success and that you will be blessed for all that you do for so many unloved and unwanted animals the way that you do. Geez and now I have tears rolling down my face because I am so happy for these little guys right now. TY Lester and Jami.❤🙏❤

The owners could have gone thru something traumatic that caused them to leave the precious donkeys. We just don’t know but thank you Jami and Lester for rescuing them. They are precious. 💕🌸💗❤️🎶🎵 🫏🫏🫏

My husband and I owned three mini-donkeys for years. They had not been abused, but just had not been cared for properly. One thing I learned is that minis are bred for human contact. They thrived (eventually) on being brushed and gently talked to every day. And they loved treats! I think you already know that. But they were lots of fun and very loving once they get to know you and experience the love you show them. How I envy you!

I have said this before I don't think they were born "feral" I believe they were dumped and as a result they had to fight to survive. I love all 3 of them and their behavior has changed drastically since they came to LHL and I think they are going to make great additions. Thank you for helping and loving them. You both have such big compassionate hearts.

When I had my farm, a neighbor had a large male goat that was laying in their pasture for a few days which was very unusual. I stopped by to check on him and he had a 6 in long gash on his side that was not only deep but obviously a few days old. I spoke with the owners and they not only refused to take him to the vet but they knew he was injured and had “ hope God would take him”. I offered to take him in and to the vet if I could keep him. They agreed and I immediately put him in my jeep and drove him to my large animal vet where he was treated with antibiotics and wound was cleaned but it was too late to be able to suture it. The goat was quite weak from the horrible gash and cleaned it daily which eventually created a very sweet bond with this very ornery goat. When he healed, I had him castrated and slowly worked on handling him and making him more docile. The former owner stated that the goat would chase the kids and ram them on a regular basis and that was the main reason why he did not care if he survived. Fast forward 8 months and the neighbor stopped by to “ borrow” the goat to breed his herd. He was furious I had him castrated and said I had no right to do this but prior to castrating the goat, I sent an email to both animal control and the sheriff department stating he was injured and the owner had neglected his care ( which the vets documented in their notes which was very important). When the neighbor reported everything to the police, there was plenty of documentation of what happened. I realize the donkeys are abandoned but please document everything in writing and research animal abandonment laws just in case. I would hate to have you (and all of us) get attached and then someone step forward and take them back to possibly a worse fate than where they came from.

Jami and Lester, these babies seem more relaxed at LHL’s. I’m so glad you moved them and their new life just began. I like the name Chance for C-word because you are giving him a “chance” at a great life. God bless you both.

Aww, they have been Jami Blessed. I think it will be no time at all that they will learn to trust you CONNOR So precious!. C word sounds more like seward. You are guessing. They may all be from the same parents. Jami may have to rely on you during her time of month to feed them, at least till they are fix. His wounds needs to drain and get dressed against flies again. I love the name Cee Wert. I M unsure yet which I like the best. I love them all. I still feel deep in my heart, once these minis know they can trust ya, and they do, the fun will begin as well more love will happen. I have notice since they been removed from Storm and Rita, they are less aggressive. Hormones play in that I am sure. Bc man oh man was Andy just tearing into them like crazy. And poor Brandon was getting from both Andy and Cee Wert. I kept saying “ Oh Lord they gonna kill each other being like this!” So I was super glad when I seen they came to Longhorn Lester’s.

My heart is so delighted that you all rescued these precious, neglected, abandoned babies! I know they will flourish in your care. I like the "C" names of Caleb and Colton although C-word or Ceaword (don't know how you are going to spell it) is a cute, funny, and different name too! I hope you'll be able to get an antibiotic into C-word at least since he has an abcess that burst. The feet sure could use some Kourtney therapy, although I'm sure you've got some socializing to do before she can even begin to attempt to do her farrier work on them. I'm just so happy that you decided to give them a home and were able to wrangle them and transport them to LHL. You both have such beautiful hearts for animals and don't ever want to see a baby go without or suffer. It does my heart good to see them being calm now and hear that they aren't fighting each other and being mean to one another. That was so painful to watch them go at each other the way they were. Hopefully when Ima and Beverly go into heat, it won't kick them back into fighting again. Thanks again for rescuing these precious babies. I thought the Game Warden or Sheriff's Office told you that you could do whatever you wanted to with them since they were wild and didn't belong to anyone? So, I didn't understand when you said that you were trying to work with them within the law because you don't own them??? I sure hope they'll be allowed to stay with y'all.

Morning Jami - I do remember you saying that you kinda fell for Jake’s and Uncle Dan & Lou’s mini’s while you had them and could see yourself with mini’s of your own (or not giving theirs back, lol) It seems the *wish fairy* took you seriously and dropped three mini’s right in your lap, or at least on your property.🤣💗 I am thinking she knew, that although these three boys are surely going to add three more helpings of hard work on an already crowded plate, that somehow your heart always makes the magic of more room, more room for care, more room for time and more room to love, to an animal that’s in need. You and Lester have an amazing love for animals and it’s wonderful that fate, or in many an animals case fortune, brought together and united your hearts to always be a couple who are endlessly ready to give, to those less fortunate and unable to ask for help....

Love the mini's. I suggest Carlos as C-words name! Donkeys can be tamed and these have had a rough start. I have watched many donkey gelding on Horse Plus Humane Society web page. Sometimes they trim their feet when they are anesthesized for gelding. Love Carlos!

My favorite is the one with the letter C name. I think the name CHAMP is fitting. I like him because he is curious about Lester & Jami. He is always looking at you, and he comes the closest to you. He wants to live.

My nephew save two donkeys once, mother and daughter. when he found them he was picking up a horse that was in bad shape and his ex step grandfather gave him the horse, who was in really bad shape. Her halter had rotted on her had and she had a huge sore on the nose because of the halter. When my nephew discovered the donkeys they had come up to the fence when they saw him feeding the horse. They had no water...none! Only food they had was eating on bushes...the lot they were in was overgrown with bushes. They were starving, so with nephew and my other nephew help, they got them both on the horse trailer. They brought them here to mine and my twin sisters place. Took us only about a week to tame them enough to touch them. The mother donkey was easy, her daughter not so much. One day I was brushing the mother and her daughter came up and bit her mother on the hiney, which cause her to kick out to the side, which is where I was standing. Right in my thigh...HOLY COW!! The horse has totally recovered and the two donkeys are at my nephew 102 acre farm now...all doing great!!
