I think you missed the detail that they're coming back with ArcSys, that all of these patches and horrible management of the rollback update were Bandai's work, but now they're finally reuniting with the ogs devs, so that's keeping the hopes up for quality patches and maybe new content in the future with new assets, if that's what they wanna do

So unexpected. I thought for sure this game was going to just fade out into obscurity. Over the years it felt like Bandai just wanted to forget about this game but we keep getting surprised. I think the only thing that I can ask for now is to implement crossplay to unite the playerbase and widen the matchmaking net. If they really cook with this balance patch and implemented crossplay, Dbfz could stand proud with all the modern fighting games

I'm really impressed with how long DBZ games get support. Zenoverse is still getting updates and that is just crazy by itself but then this...

What could possibly revitalize the game at this point? A new character? New stages? Alternative costumes? Everything that I don't think is likely whatsoever, but what else could do it?

The games director did say that her and the team achieved what they wanted for the game in the interview, so DLC, new stages, etc May seem feasible, but probably not likely.

Just started playing this game cause I got a PS5 cause of the VR2 setup I wanted and had the subscription service so I downloaded this cause I remember wanting to play it for the longest. Cannot believe this game has been out for 6 whole years and it’s getting updates still, even if extremely minor..

Either a fighterz 2 or new dlc characters.

Unexpected indeed. Kind of crazy

I'm honestly just as surprised since I also thought the rollback update was pretty much 'it' for the game; they gave no hints that they were gonna continue support for it and were just polishing the last bits of the game (I say "polish" but there are still a handful of issues). I'm definitely excited, and while I'm not expecting anything huge like a new DLC pack, there's a chance they can fix some of the balancing issues (Cell 214H has to go). 5:19 to 6:25 I really respect Lotus' opinion here. You don't need to be actively playing the game to genuinely still want to see it thrive and be happy for its fanbase when even the occasional wins like these pop up. Yes, you can acknowledge its flaws and your misgivings of the direction the game has taken, but you can do it without bringing the game and its players down. I've seen so many comments trashing on the game and its fans like "why are you still playing this dead game" or "this game's not worth learning, just drop it", when they could just let its players enjoy what they like. The game is 6+ years old already so obviously it won't have the same activity as recent releases like SF6 or T8 do nor will it have the same competitive scene it did in its prime, but you don't need that to keep playing a game nor engage with its community, no matter how big or small it is. I wish more people who have indifferent or even negative opinions of the game would share Lotus' approach to it; pointing out its flaws in a critical manner, but also able to let its playerbase have nice things without snark.

Like I know the last patch that I gave us roll back and what not has been pretty mid. Mid is probably an overstatement, but like I still have a spark of hope here. I really do want any reason to pick this game back up again because I really really really really really really loved it. With a game log of some of the recents and upcoming it kinda gets puts into the shadows of them. That and lack of motivation lol.

Balance Patches while welcome are NOT enough to revitalize this game. We NEED new characters, stages, costumes and unique bosses to fight in a boss rush mode like Cell Max or Fat Janemba. Re new characters if Sparking Zero has taken away their thunder re new characters then Fighterz should pivot into non canon/wacky characters eg: Potara Fusion of Goten and Trunks, Tiencha, Gokule, Bulma and Chi Chi Fusion etc. Or fighters we wouldn't expect even in Sparking Zero like King Chappa, Nam, Nail etc

The game is basically dead and once sparking zero comes out, that will be the final nail in the coffin. The only thing that will save this game is a new dlc pak. It gotta feature heavily wanted characters, new stages, and new skins. Anything less is gonna be side eyed. I jumped on once just outta nostalgia and the lobbies were empty. It doesn’t even pop up on my feed anymore.
