Another day another email. Today it's a scammer, and just out of precaution I want to tell you about it in case you get an email like this.

In my business, I got these sorts of scams almost every few weeks. I found out rather soon that no law enforcement agency; local state or federal has any interest at all.

I have referred folks to ic3.gov, and made a couple of reports myself, but never heard if any action was ever taken. I have not lost any $, but don't think I was the only target of the scammers I reported, nor were the others who I told to contact them.

Its tough because currently they havent harmed you. You have a throw away email account and a couple burner numbers. The person is almost certainly overseas. What do you want done? Local police have no authority the FBI has no real authority. So what do people want done? If you were frauded you would pursue that fraud.

A few months ago l was contacted by someone saying I won a tractor. Apparently they were impersonating an individual who has a KZfaq Channel that I follow. The scammers in the worst way wanted my banking information & were persistent. I quickly realized it was a scam. Anyways I passed the information on to my wife who works in federal law enforcement. It blows my mind how far people go to make a dishonest living & try scam honest people out of their money.

Scams are becoming more and more prevalent and scammers are getting very good at it….making believe it’s the actual company you deal with. Not long ago we had our utility gas company call us and say we owned them $1248 for a late gas bill for our business …First red flag was I doubt my wife forgot a bill like that, second red flag was the foreign accent, 3rd red flag was, they were demanding we paid immediately or they’d shut the gas off on us. They wanted us to meet in town at a local gas station to pay directly 😅……I had my wife call the cops to see if they wanted to set up a sting operation on short notice? The cops weren’t interested and said just to ignore the phone call….REALLY? Great opportunity to bust scammers like this…..They said there’s no crime being committed 😢

Great video Courtney. These scams are so prevalent that it's not that L.E. doesn't care it's that it would require an insane amount of time to deal with (no municipality could afford it). The last I knew the FBI's threshold for even thinking about looking into a scam was at $50,000 (loss). Many of these scammers are in other countries and purposefully route communications through several different internet "hubs" before it gets to them. Many of the hubs and who controls them are in foreign countries that could care less about a search warrant fir info. that is issued here. I've been to long already but you get the idea about how that rabbit hole quickly turns into an abyss.

Awesome video and information, sad you have to do such a video. Wish scammers was dealt with different than just seemingly getting away. Taking advantage of people's good nature especially in the small business world is disgusting. Keep the faith!

I had a similar scam but the person wanted to buy my house 😮, did my research and it was definitely a scam 🥴🤦🏼‍♂️. We have to be careful these days…

I have had a similar scam with real estate I was selling. They send too much money by wire or fake check " just to make sure theres more than enough to cover all expenses" and then ask for a refund of the balance. Of course, wire only seems like it was received in your account.

Years after I stopped working I would get calls from old clients saying they got past-due invoices from me and wanting to know if I was still working on equipment. The scam part was bad enough. The worst part was my old clients trying to get me to still work on their stuff. I had to involuntarily medically retire from old injuries catching up to me. I actually enjoyed working 65+ hours a week and being self sufficient.

I have a landscaping company and I get requests by scammer all the time. It usually involves me removing a tree or resoding a yard or planting plants around the house. How it goes is they text me request a quote and offer to pay up front but they want it done before they get back to town. What I find is it’s usually a house up for sale but not always, the person has no affiliation with the property. I have countered this scam by requiring to talk to an actual person and requiring they meet me a the property before doing the bid

@@ian3580 it is prob a refund scam, they send them too much and request to send them a check back for the difference, at that time the original check bounces, but the check you send is valid, so you are out a couple hundred.

If you get an email with a pdf attached for an invoice and you dont recognize who it is, delete immediately, do NOT open ...it will compromise your computer

@@bay9876 Oh, be fair man - we grow plenty of pure-blood, home-grown all American lying, scamming, criminal trash of our own. What comes across our border does make it worse, but we would still have criminals even if we had a perfect border. It's a human thing - we're a damn spectrum from saint-like goodness to average, normal folk all the way to most heinous. It is what we are and hopefully that will never change completely. Because if it does, and we eliminate the highs & the lows - we won't be human anymore.

We get this every week at my dealership. What they want you to do is pay the freight out of the money they "sent" you. It takes a day or two for the bank to reject the transfer but in the meantime you have sent the portion of the transfer to the freight company (which is them). Whenever we think its not legit we ask a question that shows they don't know what they are talking about like "This tractor has the multi spline 100 rpm Power Take off to the front axle included for free. We can leave that on or reduce price by $500 and take it off". As soon as they answer "yes leave it on" we block them and move on to our legit customers.

Always call them a "benchode" see how mad they get... I get obvious Indian scammers on the phone all the time about my later father's supposed medical debt. But every thing has been paid or covered by insurance.

Banks really need to provide a deposit only account separate from normal checking so payments cannot also allow money to be removed...from the account...

You can report the scam but this type of thing isn't a priority to the federal agencies. They have other concerns.

I see that you have a radiant tube heater . does that work well if used intermittently. I'd like to put one in my New England uninsulated steel barn, but it would have to be effective when used for only a few hours, then turned off. Your thoughts?

This is a very old scam. They do the same thing with motorcycles. They taske care of shipping and wire the money to you. RIGHT-- You are correct to say it is definetely a scam.

479 is Arkansas area code. Lot of scam and spam call from that area code

I had a similar situation this summer selling my John Deere 2940. Buyer sent out a Chase bank check for $4500 over asking price. Wanted me to pay the shipper. Chase check initially cleared, and luckily I transferred the shipping money to a bank I rarely use, prior to making a shipping payment through Zelle. Because even after numerous calls to Chase to verify the check, 3 days later it was kicked back. Scammers steal a check from someone’s mail, use the numbers and reprint the check, then use it to purchase something, in hopes the seller will quickly Zelle the remaining “for shipping” to their other account. Watch out, it’s getting ugly out there.

Usually, they just print totally fake checks from scratch. And often making the mistake of mixing up the order of the routing and account #’s. Anytime the amount is higher than the sale price, it’s a scam.

I had a similar thing happen to me when trying to sell my jd x350. The clerk recognized it as a fake check.

As long as our governments - and I am thinking primarily of my home state - hold the rights of criminals over & above the rights of law abiding citizens & victims of criminals - this will never change. Not tractor related - A deranged, drug addled woman already out on bonds for multiple crimes - was running around half naked in a neighborhood park the other day. The woman grabbed a very young girl playing in the park and tried to run off with her. Dad was there, fortunately, and stopped it. His daughter is safe & sound. The woman was arrested - again - charged with kidnapping and other serious crimes - and released the next day on bond. Kidnapping! Local sentiment is fairly high, so it is unlikely the SOROS D/A (currently campaigning for reelection) will charge Dad for accosting the crazy, drug addicted criminal who was kidnapping his daughter. (this is how low Oregon, once (imo) The #1 Greatest State In The Union, has fallen.)

So many scams these days! BTW, I was looking at Bobcat tractors today and the dealer told me that adding any wheel weights and/or any tire ballast of any kind would void their warranty. I said okay and walked away. Is there any concern with John Deere, Kubota, or Kioti's warranty and adding weight? Thank you.

Warning about another tractor scam that’s occurring in my area. I was alone and working on my tractor out near the road. Two young females come walking down the road and wave me over. After I get off my tractor they tell me how much they love tractors and tractor operators like me. They keep getting closer and closer until the one girl starts running her hands up and down my front as the other does the same thing on my backside as she steels my wallet. I know because I had this happen to me last week Thursday, again on Saturday, twice on Sunday, and I’m hopping to have it happen again this afternoon. Oh, but the way, Target has mens wallets on sale.

I had a guy send me the money for something I was selling. I took the check to the bank and put a hold on it and the guy asked me if I got the check. I said no I didn't. Before the hold was complete the money disappeared and never heard from the guy again

If they spent as much energy legitimately pursuing revenue they would be highly successful! I guess you can't fix deviant. I am constantly bombarded with landline phonecalls and the caller ID comes up as someone local so, of course, there is a tendency to believe it's legitimate. Well, that gets old screening calls. Anyway, a legitimate call came through telling me I was the winner of a sweepstakes for solar. I, of course played along and told them I wasn't interested in the prize of 15k. They were astonished I turned them down but conceded. I received a second call from a solar company I was already dealing with and they told me the winning was legitimate! Sheesh! Navigating through life is becoming more of a challenge!

All grass farms is in my small town. I know the tractor drivers personally. And they are NOT looking for another tractor. They have a John Deere 2355 and a kuboter mx6000 both beautiful draft horses! They work perfectly fine. I ought to tell the drivers about this. There is no Brett or Matthew at all grass. I go on the hayrides there all the time. I even have driven the Mx 6000 afterwards to help put hay bales away and unhitch the trailer.

Courtney - RimGuard won't even let you find a dealer to buy their product without handing them your name and email address. THEY are part of the info-gathering corporate structure that gets more personal info out in the wild than is necessary to do what people are trying to do. That should just be an 'enter a zip code' situation......if you're against this type of stuff - tell RimGuard to stop harvesting unnecessary info. And why would they create barriers to customers finding their product if they didn't think gathering the data was more lucrative?

We had a situation where someone was ordering laptops from a 3rd party (that we regularly use) saying it was for our company(multi billion dollar company) even using a fake purchase order with our logo and going to have the sent to alternate address. The end goal is to invoice our company and by the time we realize it's not legit the product would have delivered to this other address and be long gone.

well iam from Shawville Quebec Canada in on the marketplace from Facebook you know the price of a John Deere tractor so someone have a john deere 2025r tbl with a snow blower for sale for 9000.00 Canadian and i contacted them the story is that (We are selling this tractor for my aunt) so i sed well where can i go and see the tractor they came back to me whit (well we have a lots of interest in it since you are far away we want to make sure that you don't come for nothing give us a small deposit) so i sed to them you are in Ottawa correct,(yes we are ) so i sed i am in Shawville Quebec ??? it is 56 km from Ottawa i can be there in 25 minutes they never responded back to me i reported them to facebook ,they try again whit a deferant tractor an x738 for 7000.00 i email them and i am on to you reported the to the RCMP have great day
