There's something fishy about this concept knife!

Hello my fellow CKE!
Go Yoshizawa, the 4th generation blacksmith at Nigara Hamono, is constantly experimenting and testing his many new ideas. Transferring his imagination into Damascus reality.
Go Yoshizawa making a concept knife, is like a car brand creating a “concept car”. It might never make it into production but it does showcase new design ideas, and technological advances.
By forging these experimental concept knives he keeps Chef Knives Enthusiast’s like me and you informed about what we can expect from Nigara in the future.
What do you think about this concept knife by Nigara? Leave a comment below.
Thank you for watching this video. Hope to catch you in the next one. Bye folks.

It seems like a piece of incredible Japanese Calligraphy was magically wrapped around the knife. I am pretty sure this is the Dark Saber. INcredible.

I don't feel worthy to comment on this knife, it created a new category of knives just by existing. Beautiful.

It seems like Go Yoshizawa is searching for the holy grail of knife making indeed. Tsukasa Hinoura's River Jump should watch its back, he's coming for it...

I think I'm basically in love with the general concept of this blade, which is a crude looking broad stripe damascus pattern. I'm not sure I'm totally sold on how it came out on the hira side, but holy cow, the ura side looks amazing. And some of that is because l love his black etch of the urasaki. But the banding in the foldover section is just stunning. I look forward to seeing if he decides to pursue more patterns in this general style. Also, some people might criticize a yanagiba being this chunky, but l think the beauty of a large yanagi is the effortless one pull slicing, and that extra mass behind a razor edge really makes that happen. Especially for slicing cold, dense tuna. So count me as a fan for the overall geometry, the general concept, and the back side is just visual ambrosia.

It's a little bit like a concept car like you said. I wouldn't buy a knife with that design but it's cool to try a different style.

Not really my thing either. But it is something different alright. I like it that Go Yoshizawa just keeps experimenting and trying out new ideas. Until he stumbles upon the next "River Jump" of his own.

Very nice military tan on this one! Almost the same as Arnold SchwaNZnegger had in the final battle of "Commando". But it has one little flaw: If you drop it - you'll never find it...

Nice one!🤣 Now you're mentioning it, I do see that scene in "Commando" where Arnold is painting his face before he let Bennett eventually 'blow of some steam'. The camouflage is strong with this one.

That pattern with the round end where the lines start makes it look like black demon blood dripped across the knife, so I'm going to dub this one The Demon Slicer. I love everything about the blade but the handle is a bit too formal for my taste. It goes well with the blade but given the choice, I'd have gone in a different direction with the handle.

There's probably a Demon fish swimming in our oceans somewhere. So perhaps it was specifically made to slice that particular fish. I agree on the handle. I think that if this concept makes it into a regular Nigara series of knives, the owners will go all out with the custom handle pairings. But since this is 'just' a concept knife, they just slap a decent handle on it and be happy they're making money on one of their lab experiments.

Isn’t this a Honyaki blade as well? There is this pattern on the hollow side
@chefknivesenthusiast
@chefknivesenthusiast Жыл бұрын
This blade has a blue#2 core and Soft Iron+White#2+Soft Iron cladding. It is not a true forged monosteel blade. So, no, it is not a Honyaki knife. This is a Ni-Mai constructed knife. The pattern on the back is not a Hamon line that is caused by differential hardening of the steel.
