I wouldn't mind dogs being 10% smaller or bigger randomly, and being able to breed them to get up to 25% or so bigger than the base 100%. Would be fun if it also slightly buffed their stats too, like horses!

HONESTLY that would go kinda crazy. would be a very neat way to make dogs even better. plus, maybe it could be cool for other mobs too like farm animals. maybe a bigger cow will drop more beef, so you kill all the smaller cows in your farm and breed the big ones. its a small change but would be very cool to play with. maybe some even more complex features, like maybe some dogs do more damage, which will require a LOT more work to test for when breeding which would be neat.

1) I would love to have dogs that big 2) technically speaking the player is "fine" in this instance cause its applying the likes of what we have seen in trailers where the characters, specifically what seem to be "player" characters, seem to "wobble" or "lurch" forward when performing actions. So while this character is ~2 blocks away from the tree the movement and momentum that the character has when swinging the axe will pull them forward enough to connect with the tree. This of course breaks in the sense of the game

I think that podzol area is actually one block wide. Look at the blocks next to/below it in the image. There are blocks that are much shorter, but with the same perspective and in the same area

the podzol on the floor is 2 blocks, as you can see from the bordering grass and podzol on the corner. it doesnt mask the fact that the dog was 2 times bigger since it was massively overlapping a block of podzol and grass. once you notice the size discrepency it's hard to unsee it haha

It's possible that either the dog is put in separately and later put in the same scene in photoshop or the animators position all the characters according to the camera's view. If I'm correct, this is a very common trick animators use where they only worry about key points in the scene rather than the details because theres a saying "work smarter not harder" is very much true for a lot of animations. If it's not too noticeable then the animators won't worry about it. Ik this isn't exactly animation but it's using 3d modeling so it should be around the same concept.

you have to consider when swinging an axe you're supposed to lean forward to reach the tree so yes he could actually reach that.
