Be careful when trying new things with equipment that you aren't an expert on. Even if you are an expert, there's processes that should be in place to prevent situations like this from happening in your cnc machine shop. Also, this story took place years ago at the old shop, not in the new one…

The footage with the new machines, the flood, along with the actual footage of the fire results creates kind of a confusing image

Was the flood at a different time than the fire? If so adding the flood footage is unnecessary confusion.

Story was from a few years ago, telling it for a new audience. Plenty of lessons here. Footage at the beginning is the real aftermath footage from the story. The Studer and flood footage are just kind of other related disaster footage to watch during the story, instead of watching our faces haha

@@goldpredator2342 they have co2 fire suppression systems that won’t leave anything wet or harm the equipment ! That’s what should be installed in a cnc machine. Never heard of a sprinkler system or a “ wet agent “ being used inside the system. I’m guessing the sprinkler system in the warehouse is what flooded everything

You can still do it, honestly it should have been in a separate installation apart from the rest of the shop. If you get say some EOS metal printers they should be in their own separate facility. This is one of the few areas where lean manufacturing and space design has a definitive line. Some things need to be apart and separately in their own facilities.

This happens in EDM sinker shops often, usually on overnight burns. Modern EDM's have fire suppression systems now but still would make me nervous. We've done it a few times on a small Charmilles Form20 EDM but won't attempt that again, best to have someone onsite. However we do overnight tempers in oven at under 1100F, a little safer as no combustibles. Thanks for the post Team Titan's we all benefit from it.

Hi! Mistakes happen... Also a reason for a Fire at/in Machines is : mixing material like titanium and aluminium and coolant(Water). Gases are created that can burn! For example: First you are working with 7075 aluminium / coolant- lubricant. Than you working with titanium / dry Milling with sentos/air lubricant. The chips / spiders are glowing sometimes a little bit... And BOOOOM! The Mazak, DMG, GROB, Studer or what ever is burning... (there is a highly flammable Gas). In big Machine Shops they have Machines only for Titanium and only for Aluminium... Or you mount a fire protection system in all titanium/aluminium machines. What says your insurance contract to that problem? What do they prefer? Sorry for my bad english! I wish you all the best for the future!

I had to repair a lathe that had been damaged by fire. The shop was a large screw machine operation that used oil. If the wires for the door switch hadn't burned through and shorted stopping the machine, the coolant pump would have continued to feed the fire for who knows how long.

Seems like a solvable problem that could have been averted, using thermal 'cutouts' as heater safety backups, and possibly a 'dead man' timer that unless unit is checked & timer reset, it times out and halts after last process then shuts system down completely, (similar to unattended X-ray film processors I've done in larger hospitals and as done in commercial photo development systems,) it could integrate an internal or 'local' fire suppression system to avoid a trigger of the entire facility fire suppression system also.😎

I know just how to prevent this, it's easy! A redundant heat and fire monitor disconnect system, it's easy to build! Two simple process monitors measure tank temps live, if a tank is detected to be over max setting on either monitor, one or both in-line electrical contactors are automatically tripped and disconnected canceling all power to the process. Both these contactors can also be triggered by a fire monitor above the machine in combination with the tank monitors while also signaling your main shop fire monitoring system there is a fire present in the shop. The reason I do things in two's is preventing single system failures. You can also add localized fire suppression as an optional feature.

what is absolute ,machine orgin and realitive in cnc milling machine . any one explain
@cliftonlewis1420
@cliftonlewis1420 2 жыл бұрын
Absolute is a measured point is set by an operator. Machine is the actual machine position in relationship to the distance the machine can travel. Say it has a 54" X, 34" Y, and 24" Z travel all of those start at 0 going up to those points. Along that travel an operator can set a " new zero" for a part to be made from. As in the center or corner of a vice or palet. This makes it so that when programming one doesnt have to make a starting point of 18.7267"X and 12.2323 Y and 4.7465 Z, they can set Zero's for those points and measure out or up or down or in, from there. Hope that was more clear than mud.

Listen with the intent to understand, not to respond. Irritating as fuck, because in the audio it's clear the passivation tanks started it but you see a little picture of the Struder catching on fire and ya'll come down to the comments section bitching and moaning, not actually listening to the content.
