I think it depends on the relationship between siblings. I’m not close with my half sister because we are 18 years apart. I didn’t grow up with her that much so if I get married I would just choose a close friend. Of course I have no BFF so it would be hard for me to choose for my wedding but I am still young so maybe one day I will get a BFF we will see. Lol great girl chat!

I love my sister but I've never considered her for my maid of honor. Being a maid of honor is a huge responsibility. It's just that my best friend and I dream of our wedding and we've talked about every detail for years. So she knows what I want, she's very attentive, she has great connections, and she is great at planning. My sister would stress me out because, it sounds horrible, but I don't see her making my wedding as much of a priority as it needs to be. She would be a bridesmaid, though.

Where I come from, the maid of honour and best man are mostly a married couple. A couple married for a few years, who know and has seen your relationship and preferably not family. So when you have issues you can consult them and unlike family will not take sides.

Those who wouldn't stress you out in the planning or the day of. Big or small celebration, it is a lot of moving pieces and if anyone doesn't help out or at least not stress you don't ask them! #3. Those who are willing to commit to holding you accountable to your vows and take the time, energy and money to take part in your celebration. These are the most important qualifiers, and if you have a lot of close friends and family who feel they should be by your side and you cannot afford all that, don't have a wedding party, choose 2 or 3 people and call it a day.

I have three BFFs. One is male. Ladies, we all need a male friend. And, he's a friend ONLY😉 Two are women, we met during two of our college freshman year. Two of us were the other ones second marriage Maid and Matron of Honors. It was great. Her, Matron lived out of state. Her duties stepped up the moment her flight landed. My, Maid duties were more helping with the planning and such. It wasn't confusing and our duties didn't overlap. We respected our duty boundary and for the most part it was a lot of fun 🤗

I didn’t have any friends that were girls and my sister didn’t want to do it. So my students were part of my wedding and I had my husband’s friends who helped me.

This is a tough one. I know for my sisters wedding, I was heartbroken because I couldn’t be the maid of honour because I was to young, plus it sucked more because I can’t stand her best friend who was the maid of honour. Now I feel like I have to choose my sister as my maid of honour because she would have chased me had I been older plus she’s also said “I will be your maid of honour” and basically threatened me😂😂 not particularly happy about her demanding this of me but I’m perfectly happy with her being my maid of honour. But take it from me, do not tell your sibling you should be their maid of honour of best man. It is their choice not yours and don’t threaten your sibling friendship over the position

Ever been picked as a maid of honor then you were uninvited unexpectedly? I have. So I knew my "friend" for about 5 to 6 years now. Her fiance knew me before her we went to middle school together. She asked me to be her maid of honor and I said yes. I spend money for her to plan/organize what she likes for a wedding. During my dark time of my mother passing, she showed up to the funeral in June 2019. After that I was asked if shes planning the wedding I said she havent spoke about it in a while so I thought she was taking a break. In March I was noticing what she was posting on her IG story and FB. She kept posting about when people go to her wedding not to have their phones out taking pictures. So I already knew that was her #1 rule. Then she did a count down, so I figured it out the 2nd time that she was about to have a wedding. As it reached her day, not once was I notify, not once she mentioned it to me. I never understood why I was uninvited especially if I was the maid of honor. I'm sweet just like Tamera and very caring and not once disrespected my "friend". I knew something was up when I texted her alot and she was replying just one simple word. Never understood what I did wrong but many have told me she probably felt a way for a long time. The day of her wedding I congratulated her fiance first he said Thanks and for her she left me on seen until a week or two later and said Thanks too. He was kind and texted how I was doing during the pandemic etc that's about it. 2 months later still cant figure out what I did hut she got the nerve to tag me to a giveaway 😆.

When my brother got married his best friend was school was his best man and my other brother was groomsman. Me on the otherhand my sister in law didn't bother to ask be bridesmaid. I'm still mad about it (ik i should let go since it was in the past) but at the same time I'm happy as their wedding was in the middle of my final year of high school.

Could use some help if anyone has solid advice! I have 2 really close friends of mine. One is from childhood and one has been a couple of years now. My childhood friend has been there for me through some hard times but as years have gone by I don't see her much anymore. I also feel bad admitting she isn't really responsible when it comes to planning things at all and she doesnt live close by. Nor does she message me anymore but a long long time ago we promised to be each others. My adult friend and I have become close and she has been so incredibly excited and has said anything and everything I need help with she will always be there for me. She has been so wonderful and has been there for me through almost my entire relationship with my fiance. Because of my old friend I have felt conflicted. I feel like my history with my childhood friend is important but I'm concerned she won't be able to be by my side fully through this and I know my adult friend would. I'm heartbroken and conflicted because I love both of them but because of the promise I worry I will anger my childhood friend. What advice can anyone give me on this topic. I really REALLY need help!
