I agree with Tamera on the topic of having a favorite. I don't think it's about liking one child more than the other, it's that some personalities are more compatible. Children have their own unique personalities and one child's personality might just be more compatible with one parent than the other. As parents we have to be aware of how that might seem to the other child and make sure we try to find something to bond over with the other child too.

I agree with Ms. Mel, NO FAVORTISM over the other. Sometimes you may give the other child more attention, because you see that more attention is needed. Maybe they're not strong as the other in some areas, not that you're trying to Love one more than the other coming from that perspective.

If somebody asked me who my favorite child is... I would say all of them are equally loved by me and they all share my love... some people don’t realize that it doesn’t matter which child you hang out with the most doesn’t mean you don’t like your other children aren’t loved just as much and doesn’t mean the one you hang with the least isn’t your favorite either ! In 2 parent homes, it's very common for the mom to treat her sons the way Loni and Tamera said (aka momma's boys) and vice versa, the dad treats the daughters like daddy's little girls. I feel bad for daughters of single moms because some don't realize they treat their sons better than their daughters.

Lights on or off? I dunno, it just happens when it happens so...the lighting is what it is. I have never intentionally adjusted the lighting. I never understood the lighting debate because my experiences has never been that planned? I do it when I'm in the mood...and changing the lighting is a few seconds of time that might make that mood disappear. As a Canadian, I haven't paid any attention to US political news since Don John was elected. I miss Obama, not for political reasons necessarily but because, like Loni said, he was accessible, warm, caring. He and his family are simply wonderful. It's too bad the US voted the opposite in, he did the best job and kept it REAL.

Even if your kid isn't told whether or not they're the favorite, they can tell. It's the parents actions with the kids. Buying more stuff for the others, going out more with them, letting them get away with more, giving them more attention or gifts. So, even though the parents don't say it, we can tell. I am my dad's favorite, and he let's EVERYONE know. I am a total daddy's girl, and my younger brother is my mom's favorite even though she says that she doesn't have one. At first my older sister was her favorite (not that she admitted it), but she moved out, so now, it's my little brother (even though she won't say it).

Well here In Africa, or should I say in our black African community, parents do have a favorite child and it's not even a secret, they make it so obvious

Just because you have to watch one child more than the other does not mean you have to love one more than the other.... that’s bull.I have 3 kids and love them all the same for different reasons.

Just cos u get on better with one of ur kids than the others doesn't mean u love them more or less. And over the yrs u will b closer to ur children or not depending on disputes that arise. Especially during the teenage yrs. But u shd never treat them like their not loved like telling them the other is the favourite.
