I work in the healthcare and asses lots of women with fibroids. Fibroids are very common and mainly benign (not harmful). Usually the doctor will just have you check up on them every once in a while to check for any growth. Until any detection of a change, it’s not to be concerned. But since hers was so big to where it was palpable and effected her every day life, that’s when the doctor chose to go further into testing. That’s usually how the process goes.

I take birth control to get my cycle because I won't get it without it does that mean I have something to worry about but I also drink milk without the lactose in it

my.02 they are not having surgeries unnecessarily. My mom was having such heavy periods and cramps from fibroids that she got her uterus removed.

TaBeLla41 not to discredit anyone who’s had the surgery but if it’s detected in the early stages, surgery can be be avoided. Check out Dr. Amun on the Breakfast Club. He discusses in further detail and let me know what you think.

my.02 I don’t disagree with not needing surgery if it’s caught at an early stage but not all of the fibroid tumors are caught early. Sometimes surgeries are done to relieve the patient’s symptoms and improve their quality of life. Like I said, my mom had heavy periods and cramps for 2 years and they didn’t find any fibroids until last November. Medication can be given to decrease the size of the fibroids but the patient may just want it removed. Surgeries are not unnecessary
