I did this achievement last patch and I straight up fought the iberians. Kept Morocco and Tunis until I got the provinces for andalusia. Managed to ally France because they were rivals with Castile. Because I kept pounding Castile every time I got a chance moment they got iberian wedding aragon was insta disloyal. I should mention that even tho I was friends with ottomen from 1444 they were absolutely useless in my game, spiralled into constant debt and when I finished with iberia I dumped them and declared war.

My strat was to get into the HRE via the friendly relation with the emperor mission then prey on the PLC whenever they got caught lacking.

I played as the Livonians twice, and from my experience I can say that it heavily depends on RNG. Does Riga ally someone strong? Does it enter the HRE? Do the Teutons ally someone strong? Does Poland get Lithuania? These ones and many other things happen differently every time, so I don't even know how to do a guide for this nation.

Minor gripe, but you could probably sortie from the siege of your capital fort during the civil war at the start of the game, in order to wipe the garrison and save yourself a few months. Also, at 15:14, that would have been an excellent opportunity to vassalize Morocco and 1v1 Portugal, before feeding the entire area back to the subject. I get not doing it because that's very RNG and probably won't be consistent enough for a guide, but still, opportunities like that should be taken advantage of when they present themselves. Otherwise a stellar guide that I'd definitely follow if I hadn't already spent 8 hours birding my way through restarts and the first castile war to get the achievement.

Exactly my thoughts about vassalizing Morocco. Guess Hawk wants this to be directed to unexperienced players where this might not happend. If he was recording A-Z, he would use the opportunity.

Had an issue after my first war with Morocco, Ottomans gets into such debt that it can't be called into defensive wars, and then even with Tunis assisting, I seem to be screwed.

I always take defensive as my first idea. In the early game the Moral from andalusias ideas and defensive ideas Just Helps you out so much. You can swap out defensive later, of course, but thats my classical opener.

did a re-reconquista run recently. had a really bad rng with castile, aragon, portugal and england and decided to still declare with ottomans help then france intervened which made the war go from 50/50 to extremely easy

I did a rereconquista run maybe a year back or so and gotta say it was the slowest run and most satisfying run I had up until the recent Byzantium changes.

In the first war with castile I would recommend taking Tangiers for the trade power, la mancha for the gold mine, and caceres to release leon.

Here's a tip from me: Even if not going colonial, you can take Expansion ideas and unlock only the 1st idea, then use it to bridge the gap from Tafilat into Central Africa, then abandon Expansion. Now the entire subsaharan continent is also your oyster!

You really should have make Morocco your vassal. Could have reconquested their cores and would have had a 1 on 1 war with Portugal. Even without the Portugal war, cause yeah that isn’t guaranteed and this is a guide. But when Morocco explodes vassalising them is more optimal imo.

Red Hawk, my little 2 cent there to your guide you might not know: When the rebels siege your capital, you can make it a 1-tick siege by using sortie troops. This will use 10 mil points to deploy the garrisson as a 1k regiment, get insta-killed and deliver the capital to rebels. This is way better than leaving the siege going and get spammed by that message of Yusuf's ultimatum, piling up war exhaustion that will haunt your conquest of Tlemcen. On top of that, considering those rebels will become your troops, you might want to delete your cavalry once you get your alliances up. (depending on your money situation) 15:48 - No need to spy on Tlemcen, Figuig is a core of Tafilalt. You can easily do a reconquest and full annex there

finding rng quite hard on this one. often times tunis and morocco rival at the start meaning you can’t ally both. in the first war against tlemcen, morocco end up occupying mzab/fezan etc so cannot vassel. tunis then full annex whoever is left. then spain and Portugal take coastal provinces off morocco so can’t claim. onto my 6th attempt now, wish me luck :) p.s. naples decent ally if possible

What I've found to be a better strategy, Hawk, is to restart until Moorocco and Tunis are friendly, ally both of them, DoW portugal and Co-beliggerent Castille. LoanMAXX yourself to get a few extra merc companies and use your god-tier general from your mission tree to roll over them, sue for max cash and the provinces you need to form Andalusia. You conquer sand off-truce by immediately backstabbing Moorocco.

You should vassalize Moroco and Talifat for A LOT of cores, also to be defender against Portugal calling Ottommans to crush them and get rid of aliances. I know this is guide but you know...

Question about the army composition: what makes 7 the ideal number for the artillery? Is it related to the size of the front line, or is there a maximum number of artillery that can contribute, or something else?

Army comp is probably the most divisive question you can ask so I’ll give you the most general question with the most limited scope. Early game (before tech 12) it’s about the siege bonus. Fire pips and modifiers about it do not really matter until then. It’s why if you can afford it you should fill out your armies with some cavalry units because they do better on the flanks and shock is more important in the early game. So ideally you’d want maybe 14 infantry/4 cavalry/7 artillery in the early game, but mid to late game some people run 40 infantry/40 artillery and drop cavalry entirely. There are some that argue (or used to) that your art should be half the size of your infantry (2:1 ratio).

I might go back to Granada someday. I called it quits after the run where I fought Castile with both the Ottomans and Mamluks on my side and still managed to lose. The mamluks kept all their troops in Africa on one side of the blockaded strait. Their combined navies were bigger than the combined Castilian and Portuguese navies, but due to a somewhat common glitch, most of the ottoman navy would not move from the Ionian Sea. The ottoman army was smarter, but not bymuch. They sent 20k troops at a time to Iberia, where they plopped on a fort on hills and proceeded to get killed by the Iberians. This happened like four times, then the Ottomans white peaced out, shortly followed by the Mamluks.

I think I had the worst luck possible. Iberian wedding 1460, Castille allied with France Portugal and Venice and after my war with Tlemcen, Morocco and Tunis allied eachother and Tunis allied the Mamluks.

I cant do this like u did because tunis keeps taking all those 3 minors that are below him and I cant expand into morroco because tunis breaks immidietly alliance with me after war with tlemcen because it has province of interests on those provinces even tho i have 200 realtions with them and I cant do anything because tunis is also allied to morroco and when I wait for occasion to attack anyone castile declares on me and ottomans deny call to war. had it like 6-7 times tf am I doing wrong

Personally I would give morroco figuig, as it's low warscore and if you don't give morroco anything you won't be able to call in allies with promise land for x years.

to add, just fight castille early, doing it later is way more harder, at the start when they get the disaster is kinda simple, also taking their gold mine early is really good, so you can pay your debts really fast, just eat tlemcen asap and go for Castille

imo wait with wiping out Castile until they form Spain. why? so that you can release Aragon instead of valencia and Cataolnia. it will additionally give your vassal cores on islands in middeterenean

Castile can't form Spain as long as Granada exists, you could wait until they manually annex them but that can take a very long time

so how do you do this without going bankrupt. I can only have 12 loans by the time I take over tlemcn and the guide starts with us taking 5. I bankrupted before the truce ran out with morocco (at 1451) and before I Could core the land. hell the rev isn't even done yet.

the loans are only 15 gold btw. so we are looking at 180 gold to bankrupcy. even taking max gold in war does nothing as it all just goes to morroco for their contribution

You can use the merchant guild privilege to get bigger loans with 1% interest, then use those to pay off the smaller loans. Also selling land back to the estates given some cash for paying off loans. You just have to survive until you get the gold mine in Tafilalt.

In my current Granada playthrough (I've only played a few starts) things were definitely shaky economically in the beginning, every time I wasn't at war I sat on min upkeep and all forts mothballed as much as possible until I had to put down some rebels. I might even have asked for ducats from the Ottomans at some point. Feels like the best way is just to grow out of your money problems by waging (and winning) constant wars in the Maghreb until the income reaches the required minimum level.

I think they’re pretty good. However a lot of the guides on here for harder nations is very luck based and for the easier ones are a bit more beginner focused so they aren’t really aggressive
