Christology & the Hypostatic union: With Dr. Scott Horrell
In this episode Josh, Jeff, and Dr. Scott Horrell discuss Christology. Why Gnosticism and Ebionitism are heretical doctrines that keep trying to find their ways back into the church. Also, the Hypostatic union debate is addressed in great detail. We talk about the word of faith movement that claims Jesus did everything only as a man, and we discuss the emerging charismatic movements that claim Jesus became sin, died, and was "born again". Jesus Is God, was God, and will always be God. He is fully God and fully man.

If Jesus was temped in every way we are and yet without sin, it makes me think that the "self emptying" allowed Jesus, while fully God in nature" to be able to sin or the temptation would not be tempting and therefore sinless.

Remnant Radio, you should check out a good presentation on the dogma of the Hypostatic Union by a man who posts under the name of Pilgrims. He lays out the dogma very well, and clearly. Since it is a dogma of the Faith, it is of course not up for debate. Jesus is one Person; a Divine Person, not a human person. He is one Divine Person with two natures: His divine nature, which He has had for all eternity as the Second Divine Person of the Holy Trinity, and His human nature, which He took on at the Incarnation. Sadly, Catholics have not been taught this dogma correctly for the last 50 or 60 years, and it shows. Once a Catholic learns this dogma, that Catholic can avoid many potential pitfalls in the realm of theology.

30:30 a believer doesn't need to understand the dual natures of Christ. Like one of you just said; how many come to saving faith with no theological knowledge whatsoever? And yes, 'belief in' Jesus is salvific!

Jesus is fully God and fully man. Mormons believe in Jesus but he was a created being. Jehovah’s witnesses believe in Jesus but he is Michael the Archangel. Muslims believe in Jesus but he was only a prophet. Which Jesus can save you?

@@TURKISHSAILORo I understand your rebuttal completely... but let's balance both sides. You have to believe that Jesus is God made flesh to dwell among us; however, you don't need the theological backing and correct understanding to explain this in order to be saved. As a church leader you should have a better understanding of this as to not lead people down the wrong path like has happened with the Mormans and JWs.

This is a very tricky subject that is mostly out of the reach of the best biblical scholars, much less those who are not biblical scholars. This talk only served to cause more confusion.

Jesus did miracles, not by his own divine attributes, but only from the Father through the Holy Spirit. The Gospel of John says this many times. That means he was emptied of his divine attributes, but with one exception: his identity. He kept his identity as the Logos (not sure that even qualifies as an attribute). That never changed when he became a man. This is why he was indeed God and man, not because he still had his attributes.
