Just a heads up bro. I found the NB 480 vid on their channel and I did a thing. I posted your video there asking them to address your findings and workarounds. There are lots of dudes with wide feet who skate. They should speak on it.

I was a little disappointed to learn that the shoe had no tongue straps when they arrived in the mail. I don’t get it, I think every skate show should have tongue straps.

Really useful, just got em out the box and noticed how narrow the shoe was. Still really hyped on the shoe but made a choice of sizing down to a 12 because I couldn't get a 13. Snug fit but not unbearable and determined to make them work. The shoe looks amazing which makes me not want to skate them. Appreciate your insight

I modify skate shoes a lot. I have a pair of Etnies vulc soled shoes that I cut out a piece of cardboard in an insole shape bc I could feel the sole poking up through the lasting board and insole. And I almost always double my insoles, except for vans pop Cush or other thick ones. Glad they working out for you

As soon as I bought these Reynolds I noticed a different fit to the previously release 480# blue that I purchased. Even ordered another pair going up .5 but that was just too big and slipped at the heel. Looked to KZfaq/Instagram reviews and no one could find a fault. Maybe it was still early days but glad you put this video up and addressed the issues. They are rad shoes despite the weird fit.

Interesting. I think the whole back heel section is either too long or it needs some padding on the heel collar to keep your foot in better. I really wanted to like it, but they just weren't for me. Good lookin shoe though

Interesting, I have a wide foot and find 480s/NB in general fit better than dunks/Nike. I always thought it was normal for shoes to hurt your foot until they broke in until I started wearing NB haha. My issue is usually around the toe box/bottoms lace area.

I wanted to comment on this, because I’m a larger guy that skates as well. I’m 6’0” and 285lbs…and 52 years old. I bought some DC’s a couple months ago to skate. Right out the box slipping them on they are super tight and narrow. My first thought was-I need to lose a lot of weight, because my feet are fat. But I had to remind myself that I have been riding E’s for the last few years. They are a much more comfortable shoe for me; and they come in a reasonable width, depending on the style. Footwear production doesn’t meet the standards these days, because it’s all about getting the product rushed through for sales dates. The pro and sponsored riders may not deal with these issues, because I’m sure they are getting their boxes tailored to their needs, while the average consumer gets what’s available off the market. That’s my opinion at the least. You nor I or anyone should have to hack their shoe to make it work, because they (New Balance) offers different widths in their classic run shoe lines. I feel this needs to be addressed in their skate lines as well, because the standard doesn’t fit every foot.
@stickersteve00710 ай бұрын
I completely agree. I always thought company's could offer wide versions of skate shoes. I've skated a lot of es' and they are great right out of the box for my foot. I'll probably end up going back to those
@mytruckinglife398710 ай бұрын
@@stickersteve007 I guess there’s a sacrifice to wanting to support our favorite skaters or the product they promote. Still, the consumer should be given some options, because after all-“We are the ones spending the money and not getting anything in return other than the product. This kind of reminds me of those years some skate companies made certain boards for their riders…and sold us the stuff of lesser quality stuff. Our dollars should demand the same if not better products. In the end, skateboarding still is has my heart.
@stickersteve00710 ай бұрын
@mytruckinglife3987 it's definitely not the first time I've been let down by a product. But for $100 I'm gonna do everything in my power to make em work for me.

I kinda doubt they’re getting custom made shoes, they don’t even get health insurance 😂 I’d imagine they get product off the shelf same as everybody else
@mytruckinglife398710 ай бұрын
@@diplenski You could be right….but you could also be wrong, especially when companies go out their way to make exclusive colorways or signature mock ups for certain riders and athletes. If a team manager is requested to provide a personal fit for an elite skater like Ishod, Andrew, Koston (years ago), or even Nyjah, I’m quite sure they are getting what they ask for, because they aren’t going to skate in shoes or product that doesn’t fit their feet or just hurt having them on; even if they have to be made at another facility or off the normal production line. The consumer isn’t always getting the best end of the deal. We buy because of marketing or our desire to support the brand or the athlete (whatever sport).

Had this sammmee problem with the Ishod shoe. So narrow, but had to tighten it because the heel was (and still is) slipping off my foot. Wanted to love them, because they're durable as hell with all that Nubuck, but they're virtually unwearable for me.

NB has built their brand on the very fact that they make shoes for all foot types. However, I know this is a sport specific model but this is typically not like most NB's. I hestitated so much on the Juniper 480's and am gutted that they've all sold out. I don't know why because I wanted them so bad. It's probably just as well since these shoes are really not meant for my foot type anyway. Good vid btw..
