Thanks for the help! I ordered this from the link here a long time ago and finally got around to doing the case swap, and the tutorial made it a lot more possible. Great tips too. Much appreciation. I used the black buttons and screw covers, but I also used red A and B buttons. Looks pretty great and I'll enjoy it a lot. I also left the sticker off of the back, but I didn't use the Nintendo logo. People if I can do this you can too so go for it. It is hard though. Mostly the hinges and the ribbon cable. Also finding tiny parts you drop in the carpet. Thanks again!

I just redid mine too . I used an aftermarket gold triforce shell and a glass screen lense . Def improves the look ! Without aftermarket shells we would be stuck with our dated game console looking all scratched and grimey . Now our stuff can look and be new again !

Ordered the transparent green, arrived surprisingly quick and I'm super happy with it. Looks incredible. Also left the sticker off the bottom and kept the original buttons

The rubber screw covers are supposed to make a gap between the top and bottom halves so that it doesn't sandwich dirt, sand, and other gritty stuff in between that will grind away at the finish or damage the shell. They also cushion the screen when snapping closed. You really should have something!

I did the clear blue shell on my SP and I honestly recommend chucking those screws straight into the garbage can. Stripped out the screws because I couldn't get good enough leverage on them with those. Went out and bought an Ifixit kit to replace the screws. I also managed to strip out the hole on one of the 4 corner screws and the fix for that is using a short length of fishing line in it to give a little meat to bite into. (same thing as if you strip a hole in wood and use a toothpick or matchstick to get the screw to screw in again)

Ive already made mine, the quality is better than other shells ive used. especially the buttons because other replacements ive used, the buttons werent thick enough.

You can use a sowing needle for the rubber caps on the screen casing to avoid scratches on the case and corner cuts on the caps, if you have one lying around that is.

Late to the video, just found the channel like yesterday, but taking out the rubber pads (if you dont want to save them) you can use a thin needle pushed in at and angle and pushed down. They will pop right out without damaging the shell as long as you dont push the needle in too deep.

I recently bought the replacement tri-wing bit you always link in your description to replace the bigger one in my Xiaomi Wiha Screwdriver set, but the new bit is unfortunately way to small for the GBA SP tri-wing screws. I can't seem to find the right size bit anywhere, does anyone know more about this?

Just finally respelled my childhood sp with an atomic purple shell( same as n64) and cut royal purple buttons. Still saving for an IPS but love the feel and look

so i just replaced the shell on one of my sps and it think it turned out great but did you notice a difference in how the gameboy closed? like the hinges dont have that click anymore when you fold the screen open and closed or was that just my sp?

Gorramit. I had to reshell my SP 101 after a hinge broke, literally a month and a half ago. I’m still sorely tempted to get an atomic purple one though...

Lens is the easiest part replacement mate, I also recommend staying with the original... But not that difficult, only if it's not IPS one

Do you find that the angle of the screen is different after swapping the shell? Mine is now a slightly smaller angle when open (hinges are put in correctly)

Hi, looking for some help please! I put a new shell on my SP, and soldered the wire and it all went very well... except the buttons need to be pressed really hard for some reason. I put the original buttons and rubber grommets back and it still happens. Could it be a faulty shell? I cleaned everything numerous times and checked everything I could think of but nothing works..

Hey Elliot, thanks again for great videos. I’d just like to ask a question about the Nintendo SP. I just bought a beat up NES cased AGS-001 and it’s going to be my first case transfer to a new case. The battery is a bit dodgy. Do you know any good battery suppliers ? - sorry long winded question!

Does the spine of the hinge sit flush with itself like the original? All the other aftermarket GBA SP shells i’ve seen have half the hinge bulging out compared to other half and I’d like to know.

Finished build looks pretty slick. Would be a good option for a cheap, scuffed up GBA SP found at a car boot sale, or if it's pink etc. like in this case.

The top needs something different! The black foam isn't nice at all but the rest looks really nice for a tenner! I need to sort out my PSP and a few other consoles with some new shells. I'll check the website out:)
