The one reality drivers do not understand is that internally Uber has decided that they believe driverless cars are coming sooner than people think and therefore drivers are not a priority. They are just tolerated until the robots take over. In the meantime per Uber employee "Uber is onboarding thousands of drivers in California and other states with non citizen licenses, way more than we even need."

Ownership and operation of a vehicle, according to the govt, is .72 a mile. This includes your car payment, maintenance, fuel, etc. Uber and Lyft ROUTINELY pays .45-.60 per mile. That means we lose money on EVERY ride and make NOTHING for our time. They are PURPOSELY doing this to increase profits. Their business model relies on desperate and ignorant people.

I know we were all probably employed in much more esteemed circumstances in our recent pasts, but if you have ever worked in retail, any service related industry, you know how far you’ll get telling your customers they need to straighten up and fly right. I think the way society is today, to attempt to teach passengers you will probably never see again good manners and rideshare etiquette is beyond the scope of this job and a recipe for permanently elevated cortisol levels.

I think it is worth considering that the Rideshare companies might be taking advantage of unsophisticated or desperate people at this point. The average driver is probably not doing all the math on vehicle depreciation, gas, and maintenance to arrive at a net per hour rate. I'm guessing in many markets parking the car and taking a big box or warehouse job would make more sense. $7.00 for 28 minute rides? No.

While your after expenses number may be $7 an hour. Uber does not take 50-60% of the fare on average. Maybe they do on some rides but some rides, with surge and bonuses they LOSE money. This is a fact. Look at your data and factor in quest, boost plus and surges (not tips) and if your computer can do math you will come up with a true gross number. Mine last year was 67/33. We deserve better pay but it doesn't help to lie.

First of all let me say I love driving Uber and being my own boss. Do I think I can continue? No I am trying to find a way out. Now let's discuss this letter. Uber just gave Dara 130 million dollars in stock options for surpassing profit goals. Where is all the extra profit coming from? DRIVERS PAY. He cut quests in most cities. Pay per mile was cut. Markets are flooded with more and more drivers to kill surge. He took away the extra 1$ per trip for EV drivers only giving 200$ a month capped. He is literally being bribed by Uber board to keep his foot on our throats. Stop acting like he is a decent human being you can reason with by writing him a letter. He is ruthless and only cares about continuing to line his pockets with money he is taking from us. He could care less what happens to drivers he's getting richer the more he screws us

The Fares !!!! I never saw the Value of buying an expensive vehicle to drive Rideshare with. I originally started in 2014 stopped for 2 years during Covid., and yes the pay is substantially less than 10 years ago. A ride from Northern Palm Beach County to Fort Lauderdale usually pays an Uber X Driver $35.00 for a 50 to 60 mile trip these days, these trips are no longer worth accepting. I will only accept driving between Jupiter and PBIA. If the ride does not pay enough to justify accepting , I simply do not accept. Drivers earned more on Federal Unemployment during the Pandemic than they did driving!!! Good Luck with the letter!!!

If they're not EXACTLY where you want to meet me and wish to exit the car, please drag those pins now. My pay is based on these two pins and I'm unpaid for going to a different building. ⚠️I don't accept any changes to drop-off location or added stops due to time. Look at their 2019 IPO filing. All of this was part of the plan since day one, so unfortunately we shouldn’t be shocked this is what they are doing. I also would not be surprised to see as more and more cities and states try to regulate Uber/Lyft and reduce their haul, that they may decide they’ve milked as much out of the app as they could. At which point they’ll just shut it off and move on to the next big thing.

It is so delusional for drivers to write these letters to Uber, no one there will read them and your letters will go in the trash without a second thought. Uber knows exactly what they are doing. Uber is squeezing both passenger and drivers. All markets are saturated with drivers, and many Uber drivers are illegal immigrants. Uber is a publicly traded company and they are after profits. Only way they know how to increase profits is by paying drivers less and charging riders more. Only way drivers will get better pay is if either government gets involved or if there’s a third viable ride share option. Ubers ultimate goal is to have autonomous cars so once the time comes they will even get rid of illegals driving for peanuts. All these open letters to Uber are pointless.

I was a true independent contractor in the trucking industry for 5 years. I contracted with several companies to get loads. Before I accepted a load, I knew exactly where I was going, what I would be carrying, and I could negotiate my pay. I could often get a 40% bump in the per mile pay if loads were piling up and they needed them moved. Uber is very different.

The new CEO is under heat to start making a profit. Uber and Doordash both lose money. Uber is starting to turn a profit because of the cutbacks to driver pay. If a multibillion dollar company can't provide you a vehicle to drive in, decent pay and some access to healthcare benefits... What good are they? If you are driving your own vehicle, you are losing money now- PERIOD.

These ride share companies are lying big times. Case in point, two weeks ago I took an Uber ride for an 8 miles ride and Uber charged me $ 25 for it. Since I always strike conversation with the driver I asked him how much did Uber pay him for picking me up; my jaw dropped when he told me he got $ 12… INSANITY. He was as shocked as I was about the disparity. That’s 50 Percent! Not sure how much did Uber say it’s keeping

The upfront fare is not nation wide. It’s not in New Hampshire. I live in Massachusetts 15 minutes from Boston but Im in New Hampshire 3 days a week cause that’s where my fiancé live. Sometimes I could drive uber there but I don’t bother because I don’t wanna drive blind not knowing the destination.I don’t even except rides with destination filters because it’s still a gamble because sometimes the destination filters send you to the opposite direction.. it’s only in Uber’s advantage to show the drivers the destination. Imagine how many drivers could have drive even part time or even full time but they just don’t wanna gamble with the rides not knowing where they are going

Same here… started part time for beer/vacation money seven years ago now. Real job disappeared early in the pandemic and so went all in on a car to drive rideshare. did very well for a couple of years, working hard but making good money. First big decrease came a year and a half ago made long trips unprofitable… two noticeable steps down, especially when they stopped pairing riders with the nearest driver… meaning we now have 10-15 minute drives to pick up, making it impossible to do more than two or three rides an hour… I am now working for about 60% of what I was making two years ago, and paying close to double what I was paying for gas, oil changes, brakes, tires insurance and all the other fun stuff I have to pay for… instead of working hard for good money I’m flogging my guts out just to keep my car on the road. Can no longer afford to put money away to replace my car when it inevitably is run into the ground in 3 or 4 years… when this car dies I will be done. I love this job, but can’t afford to do it for love.

Congrats Marty on your efforts and the career in rideshare that you've had. I laughed when you mentioned "important directions," because I always thing to myself, "What directions are not important." You are correct that there are a number of adjustments that need to be made and sometimes the things exist that way because it is a technical employee who did it and not someone who really drives. I may be the only one who believes this but I think the best example is the use of "trips." I give people rides, passengers are riders and no passenger take a trip in an Uber, they take a ride in an Uber. I have never said or thought at the end of the day about how many trips I've done. It's always rides. It's not the language of a driver. Good luck to you.

Good letter. I feel it may enter one ear and swiftly leave the other, or, the gaslighting will commence again. Seems corporate's concern is prioritization of ai to maximize their profits by nickle, diming, and glitching the driver's. I feel their promotional partnership with Hertz Rental and the accounting issues, combined with a deficiency of customer service, transparency, and accountability, needs scrutiny! Totally agree there seems to be a certain amount of volunteer work Uber elected to distribute to contact workers. Insulting ride offers (affecting your stats): when might we hear " its just another type of dirty job we won't do, thus...we must advance ( saturate not compensate) the amount of drivers."

That's even on busy night such as Friday and Saturday. Not only that,I keep getting garbage challenges that want me to do 30 rides for $5. And with the icing on the cake,I get a lot of thrash offers that want me to drive really long miles for very low pay. It got to the point where I haven't turned the Uber app on in about over a month now. It's oversaturated and the pay is a complete thrash now. I plan on getting away from rideshare soon. What I find funny in a very sad way, is that this poor man thinks the CEO doesn’t know what is going on? Do you think he cares? This will change NOTHING. Everything they do is deliberate. This guy is a genuine soul. A good guy that means well. But he is naive to think anyone at the top is unaware or cares. This is a criminal enterprise. We all know it. Some of us want to believe the best in others. But the sad truth is, all this is deliberate. We all know they take an average of 60% of the fare. At least in south Florida. Any driver if they ask the rider what they are paying, it is always more than 50%. The app is completely defective. It would have made me drive into the ocean several times if I had followed its gps. There needs to be a nationwide strike, or nothing will change. And why doesn’t he say they take more than 50%?

The ride share company's have very little motivation to hear or respond to your concerns or complaints! They are simply biding their time until self driving technology is able to put you all out to pasture. So, for the next 15 to 24 months, they will pretend to want to do "the right thing", but in reality they don't give 2 cents about you making sub minimum wages. I'm sorry about that...but those are the cold hard facts and reality. "Profits over pity"... is the mantra at the stock holders meetings!😢

Finally, they did it, and fucked it all up. Totally missed the point of what I was trying to get at. I know that every time I write something, it crosses big people's desks (I specifically say and tell Dara I said I know he's got pressure, but he has an opportunity to really get out in front of things and be a heading setter, or he can be like every other company and all other failed things past and present and future, or he can literally be... a beacon and I always say the same thing," WAKE UP! You're digging a your own grave, and laugh/crying while you do it. I love the platform and what I do, but you are blatantly disregarding your drivers and riders, you're becoming wal mart. Pride before a fall. I firmly believe if you're goal here is to wait this out and keep bleeding cash until you unveil self driving cars. You WILL FAIL. Time to reign it in and come to a round table!!!" Wtf did you plagarize my shit straight up??? Lol! Funny thing is, I know there are about 1-5% of us in every major city to keep the "high class" riders happy. The immigrant issue is blatant. Dude drops off my food (I hardly ever eat out, but I splurged). The meal was 45 bucks after a crazy discount but over priced delivery etc etc... so naturally driving I pitty a fellow driver and always tip minimum 15%. Anywho, I go to ask the guy how much the ride was, he speaks no English, so I brokenly ask him por que Dinero this trip? Then show him my driving app. His face lights up!!! He shows me 6.87 cents!!! Total fair. He's so proud.... and thanks me profusely Gracias Gracias! I show him my tip.... they paid his fair with my tip.. his face dropped. I pulled up translator, and said,"watch your money, they are snakes, start checking your reciepts". We need to get this language barrier under control. **EDIT** What made this ammount so nuts on top of the fact they literally didn't pay him... was the fact he drove 10 miles to go get my food, and then another 10 miles to me.
