you can do everything perfect and still get a bad rating

I feel personally insulted after one week driving. I had 22 great rides . Got to each location within 3 minutes of each ping and had positive comments and fairwells from each rider.....suddenly out of 10 five star ratings I get a 1 star rating that puts me at 4.6. I am professional and take pride in every aspect this job require....so I need to fear Deactivation because of some unknown 1 star rating that was given no explanation or reason. This is pretty piss pour.

All trips where the pax doesn't rate the riders, it should be converted to a 5 star. 35% of my rides aren't rated, if the pax didn't rate it means nothing bad happened.

Ratings system is fine but deactivatation below 4.6 is ridiculous

My advice would be to educate the passenger about the rating system and how it works.For example hanging sign in the backseat explain the rating system works.

LOL, I got 46 5 star ratings and someone rated me 1 star today. I wish I knew who it was. I was so nice to everyone today. I guess this proves there are crumby people out there. Oh well. :)

I'm at 600+ rides and I do have a charger and candy that I bought when I first started driving and I'm at a 4.96. I got my first 3 star rating yesterday and have two 4 stars and then like q 160 five stars. I guess my biggest word of advice is keep the car clean and try not to miss turns or drive crazy. Remember you're better off driving slow than hauling ass and making someone fear for their life and leave you a 1 star 😂

We need a new ride share platform that doesn't obsess over ratings. Taxi drivers have the best wen it comes to that

Today was my 5th day working for Uber and for the past 4 days, I was in the 4.9's. Out of nowhere, I noticed today somewhere in the 12 rides I gave, I had a couple 1 star ratings. Honestly, I cannot figure out what I did to deserve those from someone. I'm friendly, clean car, drive well, follow gps, etc...

1. GPS is working properly 2.car clean inside and outside 3.water and candy 4.phone charger and aux cord 5. study the popular places in your neighborhood that people would love to 6. never argue with the customer the customer is always right. 7. educate the customer about the rating system

I understand the rating system as it ensures quality of service. However, it is not a fair system for drivers. For instance, I feel that drivers get penalized sometimes because passengers will enter the wrong pick up address, or a vague location where they aren't actually at. I usually will call the passenger immediately to find out where exactly they are, if they haven't called me first. Many times they are irritated because they had to wait a little longer until I determined where exactly they were. Thus I am sure it impacted my rating, even though it was their fault for not putting where they were. Another thing I find, especially with college students, who I drive a lot, is that they wait until the very last minute to book Uber to get somewhere, not accounting for traffic etc. I had 2 riders this past week that seemed irritated because they were late for class, but that wasn't my fault. I took the most direct route per Google maps. Again, I am sure they took it out on me with the rating because they didn't plan their pick up correctly. If your class is at 9 and you are leaving at 8:45 and it takes 15 minutes to get there, no counting traffic, guess what, you are going to be late! One other thing that happens is that they will forget to enter their destination in the app so I then have to ask them where they want to go when they get in the car and enter it if they know the address. In some cases they don't. They will say, I need to go to the so and so building. I know the city very well, but I don't know every building and street. I am Uber, not Google. If they still have no address, I will google it to see if I can find an address and ask them if that sounds right. I really think I am am a very good Uber driver. I stick to the speed limit, am very friendly with all customers. If they don't seem to want to chat, I will say hi, how are you doing, and then have the radio low and leave them alone. I also always ask if they want the temp in the car modified, ask them how their day is going, and I have a newer car and keep it very clean. I have only been driving 3 weeks with about 75 rides. My first week my rating was 4.9, second week it was 4.75, and after this week it is now 4.65! Not sure how much better I can make it for them, short of asking them if they want a foot massage. I see a lot of Uber drivers at the airport and chat with them, and many have junky cars, have that cab driver rough personality, and I think, surely they can't have better ratings than me!

I got 1 star recently for service quality. At .53 a mile I don’t hand out water etc... But I still have a ton of 5 star ratings

Uber rating systems sucks!

I had 83 rides and I am doing my best but this rating doesn't get beyond 4.55 ! I have navigation issue because I use to work as a delivery driver! The problem is Uber system itself not my work

Does your rating affect how many rides you get? I just started driving for Uber less than a week ago. I thought I had really good rides, but someone gave me a low rating and now I am a 4.3, I was getting pinged constantly when I first started and now sometimes I am online an hour and a half and nothing!

We driver have the rating system s well s the passanger does too, but my question is why uber or lyft don't have the rating system for them self ? most of pass throw their bad experience with the app to drivers.

If riders need to give a reason for a bad rating why can’t I see the reason? How can I learn if I don’t know what I did wrong?

I'm a 4.96 and that is because I offer wifi, and a tablet. But I always make sure my customer are happy and if I make a mistake I own it and do not make the customer pay for it.

I think Uber should require a rider leave feedback if the rating is 3 stars or less. It sucks to get a low rating and have no idea why. Plus, it could actually be an issue that is out of the driver's control like price, app issues, surge pricing, etc which we are not supposed to get dock for. But, without feedback, it is assumed we did something wrong.

I just figured out some magic I hope this helps only Uber at night people during the daytime are a lot more likely to be condescending and highly critical despite all the efforts made. At night time I don't think I've ever received under 5 . It's like quantum mechanics things are either more likely or less likely doesn't mean it won't happen it's just less likely people are having fun and relaxed people during the day seem unhappy and rushed good luck May the night they with you.

They sent me a cancellation letter when I only had 50 rides because my writing found a 1 star rating right now I am a 4.2 down from 4.9 yesterday because of a 4in a 3-star rating. I still only have seventy ratings I guess that's why my ratings fluctuate so much

So I was a 5 star rating uber driver and this guy got in the car with me and he said there isn’t many 5 star uber drivers like you and I was like well thank you. Before he got off the car he said I’m gonna give you a low rating to mess with your 5 star rating, I thought he was messing around with me. Moments later I checked my rating and sure thing he gave me a 4 star to bring it down. If I ever see him again I will cancel his ride lmao I don’t care. That was unnecessary and disrespectful for no reason.

ERR i noticed on the customers APP that UBER is defaulting everyones STARTS TO 1 star. WTF is that all about? If the customer misses it or forgets to rate you, you get a 1? No wonder i have 10 1 ratings from customers who have MISSED that. I saw this tonight on a passenger who was tipping me $5 on his app and he almost forgot to rate me. Had he continued he would have given me a 1 star rating with a $5 tip. THIS IS TOTAL BS! Lyft defaults the app to 5 stars. WTF is up with UBER?

Waitress doesn't bring you a refill when you need it. She won't get a tip that's all. For Uber drivers, forget the tip, you worry about ratings.

Hi ,you mentioned navigation, I was wondering how it worked, meaning you get a ping pick up first passenger and during the trip you receive another ping, so now you have to navigate to second passenger, So I guess my question is what will the navigation do, will it automatically go to the nearest drop off weather it's the first passenger or second passenger, and will the first passenger be mad they have to go out of there way to get another passenger, hope you could follow this , any imput is appreciated, please and thank you.

What if your first 20 rides are ...holes and all rated you 1 star, your Uber rate maybe 3.1? How did you fail the best driver?

You can't rate a driver on the behalf of customer rating because some customer are good as same as some bad. So, stop exploiting drivers on the name of rating. Serious complaints really matters but rating for deactivation it's so crazy and make no sense.

only started just over 3 weeks ago, 250 trips, my rating having gone down to 4.91 I've been able to get it up to 4.94 at the moment and that's going to be very hard to maintain. I do have strategies to maintain the rating which seem to be working well. For me, the emphasis is on what is said between driver and rider and how you use psychology and language. I do have an issue though about rating. I believe what I am saying is correct but I have yet to test it out for sure, so bear with me. When you start ubering as a novice, you make mistakes. Well I did. I've missed a turning and had to go further than necessary. It's correct that the rider should not have to pay the cost of my learning. That is down to me. So it is right that a fare should be adjusted. But from the little I have seen, when a rider correctly challenges a fare, the rider is unable to grant 5 stars. I believe they must rate lower in order to get the adjustment. BUT... the rider might be extremely delighted with the service provided and have nothing but praise for the driver. The driver may have mad a simple mistake but might have looked after the rider so well that he deserves the 5 stars that the rider would like to give. But if I am right, the driver is being punished twice, first from the cost of the extra distance and secondly from the rating. The passenger might not have been inconvenienced and eventualy only pays the correct amount. Uber get their correct cut when the fare is adjusted. I have a suspicion that when my rating went down to 4.91, this was the main reason, If anybody knows for sure regarding fare adjustment being linked to rating then please inform me. Thanks.

Does it depend on the city regarding star deactivation? Ive been deactivated twice. I've heard it's three for permanent. In Vegas it's two. Once again from what I hear. What's your take on deactivation and reinstatement?

Uber didn't even try to explain "ratings" to me until I fell just below 4.0 and was deactivated. So I spent money on clothing, got some mints, water, and spray, took their little bullshit course which I passed, improved my talk with the passengers, and I'm still not above 4.1.
