Same. Used the iso mat in the marine corps infantry for many nights. A piece of crap at the time but we all loved it. Thinking back, couldn’t have survived without one. Ordered 2 of these to keep in the truck. Versatility of use is amazing with this simple piece of gear

Subscribed. Good stuff. Bikepacking, backpacking, coffee outside seat, and shooting mat. Sounds like some versatility right there. Thanks.

I use the Z-Seat all the time. I use it as a kneeling pad when working on cars, doing stuff on gravel. Etc. love thermarest and I need to invest in the Z-Pad.

Right?!! Too many long nights laying on the cold hard ground wanting to pull up dawn. One MCCRES my poncho liner disappeared, those were some cold nights on Pendelton in Feb, lol that didn't happen twice. Thanks Ivan!

The small one is used to cut down on weight, and is called a 3/4 pad.
@KitBadger

Or for little people. Called the little pad. But, in fairness, you are correct...

Kit Badger Haha yes I suppose so! Also if you carry a sitpad you just use that to complete the entire sleeping mat. Great video!

Nope, apparently "little people" is considered offensive and demeaning now. We're back to "midget," so it's "the midget pad."

Cool man. I was looking for a confirmation on certain uses. I was thinking the 20" width could be a little too narrow. There is a compromise everywhere I guess.

I have done the foam pad thing. I much prefer the NeoAir. I will take my chances. I think the life of the pad depends on how you treat it.
@KitBadger

I haven't ever tried the NeoAir Mark. To what you said though, it is a matter of how you treat them. And, I tend to be rough on my stuff. I may take a look at those though. Thanks for watching!

YOU GOT A MAT IN THE MARINE CORPS?!!! I'm feeling like i'm Old Corps. They didn't even issue me a sleeping bag in Vietnam. But I agree with you about liking my comfort as I'm getting older. I have a therm-a-rest prolife and I'm looking to supplement it with z lite.

@@WildOutdoorLiving Since I posted that last comment I have switched to Klymit sleeping pad. It's extra wide and I like it a lot more then the therm-a-rest.

More comfortable than rocks... But you won't find them in a mattress store. :) For reals though, compared to what? I still use them, they work good.

They're not made for comfort, they're made to keep you from freezing to death at night when sleeping on the ground.

Stay away, these things are terrible. Never gotten to sleep once on this thing and replaced it with old shitty foam pads and was much much happier despite the weight difference. Not wide enough at all
@KitBadger
@KitBadger 6 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that man. Do you feel it is too thin for you, or is it the width? I haven't had any issues with mine. I do like doubling them up when my kids aren't with me.
@Nugmaster224
@Nugmaster224 6 жыл бұрын
It's actually fine as far as thickness. It just isn't wide enough, my shoulders and arms just lay on the cold ass ground when I use it, and my sleeping bag hangs off the sides and as a result, gets damp/cold. It also doesn't lay flat unless there is pressure on it. Wish it was nice cause I spend 40 bucks on it but I'd rather bring just about anything besides this. How they expect a 20" wide pad to keep you and your bag off the cold ground is beyond my understanding, but if they would just make a wider one it'd be a way better pad, regardless of space consumption.

How can you say the R value doesn't matter, it's one of the most important factors of a sleep system. This gave less info than the data sheet, Just a way for you to make a few bucks. Edit: I have Add block for people like you.
