Shoot a deer close quartering in with a Valkyrie Jagger with the full Viking Centerpin system. It will do the same on the same shot on a moose. The broadhead design & structural integrity upon impact is the answer. When I build an arrow that flies perfect & the arrow is tuned to the bow I don't want to ruin it on the 1st shot I fire it @ a target animal. People need to spend once instead of this buy & throwaway mindset that I see too often.

Shoot the front edge of the shoulder where the neck meets the body. Works every time! Or shoot a sharp fixed blade and a solid arrow. The invention of the mechanical broad has been a huge sore topic of opinions. I don’t hate them. I’ve killed alot of deer with them. If you use them just take better shots. You can’t plow though solid bone.
@josephtreadlightly5686
@josephtreadlightly5686 Жыл бұрын
@@jasonkarasek8201 I couldn't agree more Jason. I have a great spot. But it's @ my neighbors. My family land in the last 50 years has gone from 500 acres to 8. I live on the 8 but my neighbor to the north borders my grandfathers old Tamarac swamp. But in every direction a deer can go 50 yards & I legally can't recover them. I did alot of research & came up with a new plan. I have Victory & Blackeagle arrows I made with 4 low profile vanes on 4mm shafts. At the front is a 20 grain outsert with a 210 grain Valkyrie Viking Centerpin system with the short Jag. This doe has a daughter that walked right in front of her during the hunt that has had twins the last couple of years. Unfortunately this spot is affected by humans in all directions which wasn't the case 10 years ago. I've had different bucks on camera but only @ night. Only seen yearling bucks whenever I've hunted. This doe was a menace to my neighbor & his greenhouses livelihood. I'm there to fill a doe tag & that's it. I've been able to take several deer in many areas with this setup & they r private & public where I'm hunting close to borders. One thing they have in common. Not one has had a bloodtrail past 30 yards. I shot this big doe & she went 10 yards, stopped & crashed. I'm 6 feet tall & she dwarfs me. The exit wound was behind behind the opposite front leg. What's possible with an entry shot where the neck starts & the bloodl-loss with a very wicked sharp head with a big wound channel. Died in seconds & was delicious. A fox even came in & stole her tail b4 I ran it off. I didn't get video of that but I did get the shot with 10 extra minutes of several doe puzzled by what just happened. This year I'm doing it with a recurve with a new arrow I'm making now to go along with the recurve. I really like this time of year. Take care.

That kinda looks like a Rage hit I had one time. 19 yds away, broadside with me 20+ feet off the ground, and my Rage hit flat and made a horrific wound on the outside but never penetrated the ribcage. If they don't sneak up on him in the morning, he'll be gone. The arrow shows good penetration because of sliding down the ribs. I had to sneak up on mine and kill him. They bed because of the extreme pain. Because of my experience, I stopped using mechanicals, but I do realize how good they are in other situations. I didn't see this buck showed up on camera after being wounded until I watched this video the second time.

Mechanicals and heavy bone dont mix.i hit a buck in the shoulder with one, it deflected and lodged in the neck, he went over a half mile and I was lucky I found him. Blades were completed bent and flattened. There's a reason some of the western states that have bigger game outright ban the use of them.
@dandetweiler2228
@dandetweiler2228 Жыл бұрын
I've heard more than one person shooting Rage say they stay back from the shoulder/heart as they would rather hit them in the guts with a Rage. Problem with that is the poor deer suffers for 12 plus hours and has to die from poisoning from his stomach acid entering his body cavity. But sometimes, with fixed blade broadheads it seems like it doesn't bleed that well with even with a lung hit.
@bowhunter9288

I won't use rage anymore. I shoot a small fixed broad head now. Muzzy ones. I have them aligned with my flechings when my arrows are cut and spin tested.

More than it's worth! All they are teaching you is to not worry about your shot placement, they will encourage you to make questionable shots because it gives them more business! I feel all states should ban the use of drones for scouting and recovery! It takes the talent of tracking a wounded animal from a hunters! 👎👎👎👎

Unfortunately here in Missouri you cannot use a drone for deer recovery or for even locating deer prior to hunting them during the season. Part 107 won't help in many states which prohibit this. I thought about making some money this way also.

It's mostly because hunters of this generation look more at the size of antlers instead of a lethal shot! They would rather risk wounding an animal than pass up a bad shot!

Can find a wounded deer but not big foot?
@YodaWasSith
@YodaWasSith Жыл бұрын
This last season my dad took a shot at a dream buck, and we were sure he hit it. We never found any blood though, so home we went. That night we talked about it more and we were convinced he had taken a good shot, and we decided we'd take his drone up the canyon to see if we could locate his body. First thing in the morning, as soon as the sun was out we put the drone in the sky and started grid searching the area he ran into, and right as we found the deer laying dead in a grove of cedars, a forest cop shows up. He gave us a ticket for "Operating a vehicle or aircraft to locate for hunting, protected wildlife." The ticket was not cheap, and they took the animal. The cop told us it's basically the same thing as if a person with an airplane or helicopter came out and scouted all the animals, then came out and killed one; it's an unfair advantage over other hunters who don't possess the technology. If we had walked all through that forest and found that deer on foot, we'd have kept him, but because we used a drone to make it easier to locate him, it was illegal.

Its the same issue in NC. My game warden doesn't care if you use them to track a deer after a shot. They're more concerned with using drones for scouting. If I were in your situation again, I would put all my hunting stuff back in the house, and come back out with the drone. There's no law against inadvertently stumbling across a dead deer while you're taking pictures of the sunrise.
