The 2/2 Dog with vigilance is Alpine Watchdog, notable because of Alpine Houndmaster, a card which tutors for that and igneous mutt. They were relevant in standard for a moment

I was the one who commiserated with Nelson on the Commander Legends PPR when Adam agreed that Graham was the problem, but couldn't be bothered to help deal with him even when it was free real estate (which is a perfectly reasonable choice to make in a casual commander game and I love Adam to pieces so I'm sorry he got "mad" about it.). Then when Nelson shot that sass back at Matt on this stream I knew I had found a kindred spirit. Nelson is much nicer than me so he's also aspirational, but I'm very pleased to watch him play Magic all the time.

"plane" sealed is a really cool idea. I feel like there's a pretty limited number of planes where this is cool, instead of absolute chaos (Dominaria) or basically the same as 1-2-3 draft (Alara, Tarkir, Lorwyn/Shadowmoor). Mirrodin/New Phyrexia, Innistrad, Zendikar, and Ravnica are pretty close to the line of sanity, I'm biased and want Zendikar to make sense in this format, but there's no way Ravnica makes sense as a single format. Of course, in the single-set-block era, we've got some confusing but cool experiences like Eldraine, Ixalan, Theros and Kamigawa. Those are the best fits for this format, IMO. I really hope we get a real visit to the transformed planes of Alara, Tarkir, and Lorwyn/Shadowmoor at some point, even though they've already had their planar arc, and those planes aren't the source of a multiversal threat. I can see now why they moved away from Blocks, they really did that one story a LOT of times.

I kinda miss block constructed it lead me to make a format between my play group called guileless commons the cards legal are those printed in a standard Ravnica set decks are 80 cards no sideboard each deck can include only cards equal to the rarity so 4 commons 3 uncommons 2 rares 1 mythic. And to prevent it from becoming stale there is a 20 card list that is able to bypass the specific rarity and changes depending on card and is written 1/x so for example one of the cards on the bypass list is charmed stray and is 1/8 so 8 copies can be included the list itself also changes. Also the gates can have any number and is not considered as part of the 20. I’m on a dredge list that definitely feels the most powerful but there are enough other graveyard decks in my play group that main deck graveyard hate is run. Other decks played are rock with deathrite and bob izzet Phoenix abzan tokens 5c niv and a spell sling grixis deck. Format is really fun the power level is at a really interesting place due to power creep and decree that I don’t seen in any format though there is a top tier deck but hate-y stax cards that are included anyway help keep in check

How fun is Theros limited? I was thinking of buying a box and just turning it into a pseudo cube since it was one of my first sets and I'm a bit nostalgic, but if it's bad or unhealthy I'd rather save my money and just build a Khans cube or something.

Good as it is, it’s almost always better to build a cube than to assume that one made from a box will be balanced.

Unless it was very carefully done, absolutely miserable. The answers to things in a format sometimes are specific and only in that format so mix and match means you just might not get those answers. Take Ben's main deck Return to Nature here for example. There are a bunch of that kind of effect running around all the Theros sets because it was necessary. If one team ran Innistrad against Theros that greatly reduces the likelihood of getting those answers to bomb enchantments because Innistrad has never really needed such cards to be as prevalent. And that's not even taking into account power disparity. If you did Kamigawa or Llorwyn versus almost anything else they're going to get wrecked because all the sets are so old and power creep happened.
