“I Am My Monster” hit home for me. I was crying like a baby. I felt what Steven was feeling throughout Future, being scared to be vulnerable. It’s hard to tell other people what you really feel because you fear being rejected. I am happy with how this historical show ended.

I know exactly how Steven felt during a meltdown, it's a dangerous thing. I had on myself during my first few months with college because got so overwhelmed with schoolwork, financial problems, and missing family and my husband was really hard to handle. Had one a few months ago tbh, just different circumstances but just as painful. Sometimes you don't realize what's happening before it already happened

I like how Rebecca created such a relatable character. I feel very similar to Steven. I often feel like all my friends are leaving me, and it's really difficult for me to open up about my feelings. I know for a fact, that I put on this mask that everything's okay, when it's not. it's extremely difficult when everyone expects you to be happy because you've always been happy, and then one day you wake up and you're just not anymore. Sometimes I feel like I give so much love to everyone else, and one day I'm not going to have enough left for myself. I wish I had a support system like him. I've tried letting my mom and some friends Know how I feel, but they just ignore me. This show does encourage me to be optimistic and it really helps with identifying my own feeling. I hope it helps everyone else as well.

Did you notice that when the gems eat the cookie cats they eat the ears first which is a callback to “gem glow” when Steven says “I like to eat the ears first” Edit: thanks so much for the likes :)

More on Peridot's gift- The first clothing word she learned was "shirt" Flashback to the scene from Log Date when she found a "chest of various 'shirts'" Another flashback to scenes in which Peridot admits to using/borrowing Steven's clothing, toothbrush and other belongings when he isn't looking; lmao

My theory for why Steven is so strong is that, since his gem doesn't have to make his physical form, like it does with all other Gems, he has that extra energy to use

He has complicated issues with his mother, with a very toxic helper mindset, and a whole ocean of self loathing. I had a mother who was abusive and taught me every thing is my fault, so I have a toxic mindset where I need to help all my friends feel better even at the cost of my happiness, and I honestly do hate myself. There isn't any one reason, but I feel like a fraud, a monster, a screwup, that everything is wrong with me and I should be dead so I can stop stressing my family. But I'm not strong enough to take my own life, or put a knife to my skin. So the loathing festers and creates evil thoughts within my head that beat my self-esteem and worth into the ground. But uh, yeah. Where I am is where Steven was in Everything's Fine and I Am My Monster, except I can't go kaiju and show my family that I need some love, communication, and support. And I don't have a therapist, tried one for a while, but...it didn't stick.

13:01 I like the way you brought this up. It should be obvious why there wasn’t a major battle against Steven here, primarily cuz it doesn’t make sense to hurt someone who’s already going through serious mental anguish and pain. Also because, even from what we’ve learned in this show, Gem fusions like Sugilite and Malachite had to be poofed to be defeated, but due to Steven being half human, they don’t know the risks that would happen of trying to “poof” him. Between the lore of the show, and the overall message of the final 2 episodes, it was handled (not perfectly, but) pretty well imo.

One of the things I’d like to point out is how just like his mother Steven avoids his problems and runs away from them. They both have had incredible outbursts of anger and hurt other unintentionally hurt other gems. They sweep it under the rug and avoid letting others know to prevent worry and further problems, which in both cases doesn’t work. And the more Steven tries to avoid being his mother the more he becomes her, physically and mentally. What I loved about this season.

My biggest problem with Pink is that because we were shown her development in reverse it kinda leaves everyone thinking she was a POS instead of a spoiled brat who developed into a flawed yet more mature adult. I'm not gonna say she's perfect, no one is, but they way they just want to bury her now is just pathetic. Its the same logic from morons you see today who think because you said and did things that were bad years ago that you should still be punished for them now and its complete bullcrap.

Plutia's pet ok I see where you are coming from, but I have to disagree on the last sentence. Of course people will bring up the misdeeds of the past. If you murder someone when you were young and stupid then even if it’s been 15 years later you have to face what you’ve done, the past is the past but you can’t change it only work with what’s done. Sadly others get affected by poor decisions, like Steven. What shouldn’t be done is baring the weight of another persons actions if you yourself is not responsible, something Steven went through since day 1, and that’s why pinks story took a reverse from a leader to the pink we know now.

Firstly, a Lars of The Stars-inspired spinoff, centered around - as the inspiration implies - Lars and the Off-Colours on their adventures in space. Alternatively, we could have a slice-of-life spinoff set on Homeworld in Era 3, either focused around Spinel and the diamonds or entirely new gems we haven't seen before. Alternatively we could see a spinoff focused around the gems running Little Homeschool - and Greg, who I can imagine taking up a job in teaching components of normal human life to gems in attendance - teaching gems and adjusting to life without Steven being around.

also since steven had the whole struggle of feeling like he was a monster, and not fitting in with connies human friends, and the whole identity crisis that he’s been battling the whole show about wether he’s first his mom then a diamond and now a monster really have a WHOLE new meaning to the ending song “being human”

Steven Universe had a good ending. I couldn’t see it ending any other way. It was a new beginning for everyone, showing that everyone will continue to grow and change even if we might not be there to see all of it. I can agree with one of the main criticisms of it being rushed. It was rushed, but I see it as more of an issue of resources not writing. Sure there’s more I’d like to see, but I think the ending was meant to be fairly open. Check out some of Rebecca Sugar’s interviews relating to the finale. Rebecca had to fight incredibly hard for this show, Cartoon Network didn’t treat it kindly. I think we need to find solace that the crew was able to tell the main story intended, and if they ever plan to come back there’s plenty more to do. Steven Universe will forever remain a gem that has changed my life and so many others. It’s been a constant and a positive influence for me, I know I’d be a worse person without it. Thank you with all my heart to Rebecca Sugar and everyone who made this show possible, you’ve done an amazing job making so many feel heard. I’ll always love your creation ❤️
