When Steven takes over white diamond, he’s not talking to her. White diamond was begging for him to stop, but she was still taken over by Steven . This is literally just Steven talking to himself about how scared he of the way he’s been acting and how vengeful he’s been acting, how scared he is of his diamond powers.

OKAY BUT LISTEN When a fusion becomes unstable, it ceases to exist, like how when Garnet unfused because of Ruby and Sapphire disagreeing, or when she almost unfused because she saw the forced fusions. What if, when Steven's shape doesn't change to a larger size or something more "offensive", those "bursts" are his body and gem trying to unfuse, causing these weird distortions on his body because the gem can't simply rip itself apart from his body? I mean, at the end of CYM he fused with himself, so in one way or another, he IS a fusion.

Yellow Diamond can disrupt and repair a gem's physical form. Blue Diamond can repress and enhance one's emotions. Meanwhile, White Diamond can channel and deflect someone's inner thoughts. And Steven... All of his powers are related to change- the thing his mother though she was incapable of doing, and what brought back his powers in the movie. I find that Steven and the Pink Diamond gem best represent spiritual health for this reason. Spirituality isn't just about religion; it places heavy emphasis on finding your place and sense of identity in the world. It also focuses on connectivity with others, optimism for the future, and contributions to society. Perhaps Steven's pink aura in Reunited is reminscent of this theme, as he used it to show Blue and Yellow that he was CONNECTED/RELATED to them. Now, Steven has lost his sense of purpose. His powers are flaring in a negative manner because of his spiritual state of mind, which in turn affects all of the other areas of his health. As his health is declining, his powers are becoming more destructive, just like how Blue Diamond made those around her cry, how Yellow Diamond destabilized gems, and how White Diamond controlled others' minds. It's also why I believe that the Diamonds would never understand Steven, as much as he wants them to. His trauma is completely different than theirs. A couple things you missed! The diamonds still treat him like he’s a kid (like pink diamond), and none of them really listened to what he was saying. (As people have pointed out, he wasn’t clear on what he wanted them to help with) They did what they knew, assuming it was what’s best. Yellow kept changing his form as he was getting frustrated with her, Blue kept pushing the clouds onto him even though he responded to them with disgust. White praised his abilities as he was saying how scared he was of them. When Steven was talking to white, she poked his chest, to which he responded by nervously pushing her finger away. Definitely a bit of ptsd from his gem being ripped out. As Steven ran away from spinel in the hallway, he was standing on the pink diamond of the diamond insignia. Another shot showed him stepping on the pink diamond as his form grew again. A small detail, but very telling! Hope you see this, can’t wait for the next breakdown!! ^^

This all reminds me of the Movie quote from Spinel, in an ironic twist. "When you change, you change for the better. When I change, I change for the worse!" And now Spinel is getting better while Steven... Falls apart at the seams. It's really something, huh?

Theory: Steven is becoming what Pink Diamond would have become if she never became 'Rose Quartz'. Pink would have lost herself to her darker side, and would have tried to shatter her fellow Diamonds for how they mistreated her. But instead, she left her home and became a better person over the years. Greg also left home and became a better person over the years as well. But Steven, who started out as a good person, is giving into his dark side and taking out all of his anger and frustrations on those who are trying to help him. Pink didn't want to look back on the past, only the future. But Steven keeps looking back on the past and is not moving towards the future. Learning from the past and moving on from it seems to be the main message in this series.

This episode touches on three unhealthy coping mechanisms used during depression: Change in physical appearance/ judgmental of own appearance Substances to make someone feel “better” And Vengeful thoughts or thoughts of harming yourself/ others. If you are having these problems please know that life gets better. I am glad that these subjects were touched on main stream in animation media.

Theory: In the movie when Steven was hit by the rejuvenator, when he got his powers back, maybe he was becoming just like pink when she was made. So all these diamond powers coming out may have been what pink experienced a couple months after she was made.

Five bucks says that all of Steven‘s friends are going to start singing parts of Steven’s song when he’s doing really bad, about how he helped them with his songs just like how he helped Spinel with change or Peridot with peace and love on the planet earth, Pearl with strong in the real way, and so much more

Just some details I noticed: the diamonds shouting for steven at the end parallels garnet at the beginning. Also, when spinel takes over white diamond, her eyes match spinels with circular pupils, but when steven is in control, her eyes are diamonds.

With the latter, Steven could FINALLY get the heart-to-heart with his mother he wanted to have for years with her

What if Worny boi is actually how Steven sees his mother, a monster, and him calling his new powers "Diamond powers" and Jas calling him "my Diamond" could also be making Steven think he's becoming like his mother, a monster. Maybe he needs to rethink how he thinks of his mother in the end.

Personally I think steven is warping home. And that's where we see that scene where everyone (Connie, greg, and the gems) is shocked to see that he's slowly turning into his mother. And he runs up stairs which then becomes the scene where he says "I don't hurt people, I help people"

I feel like the “I am my monster” episode is him transforming into his mother. Bcuz a tht he end of this episode u see him getting bigger and his hair turning bigger. He doesn’t wanna be a diamond. Be at the end of the day he is. And he transforms into his Mother (a diamond) which is his monster that has been haunting him with her past mistakes she put into him.

Yellow Diamond: Changing your appearance to boost your self esteem but in an unnatural way, like how yellow changed stevens physical appearance by force. Blue Diamond: Drugs, the clouds. When steven touches the clouds he feels happy, but he isnt happyy as he even states. White Diamond: Self harm or harming others to make yourself feel better. (In an unhealthy way) (Just me talking, sorry if im completetly wrong lol)

The Diamonds have all now officially been redeemed, but I will say, Yellow's power to completely fix a gem, even if they are missing a fragment is awesome. Also, her mentioning doing it to the cluster in earth... I don't actually want that, just because I personally love that all the fragments are getting along. Plus, the cluster is super powerful, since it overpowered a diamond ship

I think you covered everything well, so I am just gonna mention this: •Yellow Diamond mentioned that she could fix the scars corrupted gems have like their horns if they so wish. •Blue Diamond could probably travel with her clouds, since as she was lounging, her clouds were carrying not only Steven and Spinel, but Blue herself. And Blue was manipulating them throughout the song, which gives me the impression that Blue could use this ability with practice for transportation. •White Diamond actually displayed some physical feats for the first time. When Spinel was in control, White Diamond was able to mimic Spinel’s dancing at the perfect pace that had a side effect of causing the room to shake, insinuating White’s super-strength. Then when Steven was in control, not only did a step cause a stomping sound like Spinel, but she shattered a pillar with a single swing of her arm. Given that White doesn’t make thumping sounds when she usually walks, it tells me she lightly walks, ensuring to regulate her weight like most gems do passively, yet with someone unfamiliar with her body, they won’t have as good control. •White Diamond’s amount of control is very questionable. While White was clearly able to stop her connection with Spinel freely, Steven’s outbursts didn’t cause White to break the connection. I am thinking that either Steven’s will outweighs White’s or White was allowing him the entire time to do what he wants with her body, despite the destructive nature.

I love how the diamonds' "new powers" are just their old powers, but used in a kind way. Like with Steven, who can create barriers, and now he uses them as an offensive ability.

Blue could make a fortune with those clouds. She just deals them for free

I feel like Steven isn’t going to get corrupted per se, but he will still become that giant monster because that’s what he sees himself as. Just like how he began to change his appearance during training with Jasper and by the end of Homeworld Bound, I think he will turn into a reflection of what he thinks he is: a giant monster.

When Steven lost his control over White, I heard the sound effect which is used for Enid (from Ok K.O.) when she turns into a log.

My Theory: There is no corruption involved. Everything that is going on and will continue to happen is just a manifestation of the same powers we saw way back in So Many Birthdays (Steven feels old, so he is old) and in Steven Floats. Steven feels weighed down and overwhelmed? His powers weigh him down. He feels confused and lost and not sure who he is? His form fluctuates and shifts and grows and changes. In Fragments, Steven felt like a Quartz soldier training with Jasper? He starts to look like one, imitating their size and musculature. In this episode, he felt like a Diamond? He starts to look like Pink Diamond. I don't think he is going to be corrupted. I think something at the beginning of I Am My Monster or end of Everything's Fine (that scene with the grass Steven's perhaps?) is the final straw in Steven feeling like he is a monster. And if Steven feels like a monster... his powers finally have something defined to latch on to and he becomes the monster from the intro. The solution isn't Diamond essence or Rose's Fountain... it's the gems, Connie, his dad, making him feel like Steven again. He has talked his way out of every conflict on this show... isn't it fitting if the last conflict is resolved by them talking to him? Of course, they can't tell Steven who he is though, only he can do that. Which is what leads to him leaving at the end to go find himself. Just some thoughts ✌

I have a little theory that Pink Diamond was the first one to find her "new" powers. We know that Pink have destructive powers but what if that WAS her first power? And when she accidentally broke Volleyball's eye, she tried to change herself, causing her to unleash her new healing power. Idk, just a little theory I made here...

My dad watched this and, keep in mind he too has PTSD, said “someone tells Steven that shit happens.” I guess that means Steven needs to talk with others and himself to resolve this instead of shutting everyone out.

Seeing this episode made me think of something that never clicked until now. Steven’s feelings towards the diamonds are worse than ever, but he still has to face the one diamond that, to him right now, is the cause of all of his pain and misery: Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz. He becomes so infuriated with her and sick of having her gem that he actually removes it and tries to shatter it. When this happens, Pink Steven will reform but start corrupting when he sees his other half trying to kill him. All of the negative emotions he kept bottled up will cause him to snap and turn into the giant wormy boi from the opening. I am also a fan of the corrupted Steven theory, but it just occurred to me that the Steven that gets corrupted is not the human, but the gem itself Edit: Wow, I don’t think any comment of mine has ever gotten this many likes. If Steven/Pink can only heal a shattered, corrupted, and broken gemstone while Yellow heals a physical form of a gem which is based on a look, why can't just Steven go to Yellow rather than Shell to fix Pink Pearl's left eye.

I watched quite a few reactions of the episode myself, and bunched together a small note myself. When steven gets bigger and pink/ white diamond grows smaller, from what i understand its his personalities separating. His diamond half inside white and his human half taking the controlling of pink/white diamond. Him forcing white to smash her own head in was just in his head, but the connection broke just as he was about to force her to do it. From what i can understand, white isnt forcibly controlled; she can cut the connection anytime she feels is necessary. He feels like his gem has been holding him back from being completely human or having a normal life, and in that sense he just wanted to get rid of it. When he has his flashback to white taking his gem out, yes he did experience the fear and want revenge, but he also realized that if he didnt have a gem; especially it being a diamond, he would have had a better life. And he says "this is for everything that youve put me through!" and yes, like i said before revenge on white would play a big part, but he might also be referring to how having his gem, being known as rose quartz, being attacked and almost killed multiple times, or being known as pink diamond and having to endure identitiy issues through both of these makes him want to shatter his own gem. who knows.. this is just my interpretation of it please dont attack me for what i think might be happening

In Steven's defense though, these people did try and kill him first... I dont want him acting like this AT ALL. But let's be honest. Jasper almost killed him, Spinel almost killed him, the Diamonds almost killed. Like he was on the brink of death by these people....

When Steven took control of White and started acting vengeful, I was just repeating, "Steven. Steven, Steven. Steven, please. Steven, no. Steven. Steven. Steven, Steven stop."

Wonder if it's not just his emotions, but Pinks too. Maybe the remnants of her conciousness have been watching through Steven's eyes? A version of her that is deep in Steven's gem, like the Pearl inside Pearl's pearl. What if it's her who's causing this because shes not willing to forgive the gems who hurt her and her son.

OH. MY. GOD. SPINEL GOT EVEN MORE PRECIOUS! IT'S AMAZING! SHE'S AMAZING! It's so weird just seeing her in a normal episode, it's uncommon for movie characters. But it's very welcome!

I have 3 theories about what's gonna happen to Steven- 1. Corruption. Everyone knows that one. 2. The wormy boi is actually a fusion of him and Jasper. It has horns like Jasper and it's a fusion between a diamond and an former corrupted gem, it's likely to look a little monstrous (perhaps the Crystal Gems try to stop Steven from running away again and they fuse to fight) idk??? 3. In the movie Spinel hits Steven with the rejuvenater, nothing happened his physical form, but his gem glowed. He lost his powers and had to relearn them. What if "Pink Diamond" was reset? What if she is trying to break free bc she doesn't know who Steven is? She was reset and forgot everything. Steven's size is growing uncontrollably (Edit: he's also losing control over his powers), he's turning pink, when he was fighting Jasper his eyes looked like diamonds, his powers are getting stronger, and even his hair was getting more like Pink's. You missed a small detail. When white is pointing a Stevens gem we can see that Steven has a look of horror or fear on his face. It’s the ptsd of when white removed his gem. He is remembering this. Just something I noticed

When i saw "we will always be your family" in the credits and all the scenes from steven universe i couldn't my self from tearing up and even as i type now i am shedding a pool of tears knowing that this is the end and this Show this character this legacy will forever be in my heart.

What if Steven went to a remote planet where he just allowed his emotions to fester, and that's where he turned into a giant kaiju. The Diamond with the Crystal Gems track his warp signal and go to the planet, only to find the giant organic beast, not knowing it's steven. Maybe this is a chance for the Diamonds to fuse and show a new power that allows them to at least communicate with Steven in some way, at least for long enough for them to find a solution. Maybe in the monster Steven's head (mind), he finds himself talking to his past life (Pink Diamond) and only then he finds peace or something like that.
