Philodendrons are great and come in so many colors now. A word of caution, for those that don't know the leaves (only the leaves) are poisonous, their toxicity will not affect your fish as long as the leaves are kept out of the aquarium.

Houseplants literally saved our lives! All of our plants except the submerged plants started dying this winter. Some were 30 years old and some were brand new. One day I noticed that the plants in the guest bedroom were fine. The only difference was that we had closed off the heating vent. I called a local company, three weeks later they showed up and I heard the guy scream " Open all the God damn windows!" 😂 so a new furnace later he told me that it had been leaking a poisonous gas for at least a year and we should be dead. They refused to leave until it was done.

Peace Lilies are by far the easiest on this list, as well as best nutrient uptake and imo the best looking! I also have a giant mother podophylum syngonium that I've been taking cuttings of to grow in my tanks. And Pothos interestingly enough will grow completely submerged, wrap a cutting around a log and although it grows slower it will root and leaf and vine completely underwater.

10/10 video my guy. Im in the exact headspace as you regarding under water plants! My peace lily, philodendron, and pothos collection do a solid job with bio filtration and they're absolutely stunning to look at. Bro did you also know that pothos can be trained to grow UNDER WATER?I had saw on some other dudes channel that they cant breath oxygen underwater and die but that is 100% not the case. I successfully keep pothos completely submerged in all 8 of my tanks and have done so for 1.5 years now. So vibrant and green and my fish and frogs love it!!! You should test it out and do a video on it. I feel like most people arent aware! If you do, just know that the Pothos will shed a few leaves during the acclimation period but once those root balls start to sprout in a few weeks, it will stabilize and eventually even grow new leaves underwater! I have a beefy boy monstera, biggest leaf is as big as my torso. I desperately want to put it in a large tank on top of the huge dried rose roots that I have. Wild roses took over most of my grandparents yard and I got tons of cool cuts from my pappa for aquascaping. I want to set a few together and nest the monstera right in, let it’s roots take over EVERYTHING with tons of mosses just for some lil shrimpies. I don’t have much experience with many types of fish other than bettas and platies but a big dense shrimp tank with my gigantic monstera is my absolute dream. I’d probably cave and add my spider plants as well, let them walk across the top and root the pups on their own. You're correct. NASA has a great article that includes a bunch of different plants that clean the air. Each plant has a listing of all the chemicals it sucks up. Houseplants are Wonderful! They're all over my apt. Even, I mean especially in my bedroom. The air is cleaner and I sleep better. Great tip. Ty

Wandering Jew plants grow profusely out of my tanks and get little purple flowers on them continuously. They grow into a jungle.

I'm gonna have to try out that philodendron, I love how it's splitting off everywhere, makes it easy to keep them small for aesthetics. I'm looking to move my tank under a big window so non-aquatic plants are gonna love it

Amazing setup! Pothos is my jam. I'd love for you to try out the emergent plant holders I created, I call them Poth-O-Carry's. :D great for holding plant stems securely on the tank during water changes / maintenance. :D

I grow a non-variegated spider plant underwater. Initially grew it semi-submerged as I didn't think it would grow, then put it fully under. Seems quite happy.

I have a couple pothos I was considering putting in the tank but I thought the fish would eat the roots this is amazing I've actually been wanting to do this for a long time and have several plants so today's the day

Thank you. About a year ago I took some marbled queen pothos cuttings and put them in fish tank to root...they helped filter water so I left them there...and now are growing up wall and across window top..the original cutting leaves were 3" now growing out of aquariums, they have 8" leaves now. I do thin the roots in the tank but it's not hard to do. Creating a jungle.

I recommend lettuce, cilantro, bok Choy, dill, spearmint and basil. All of these are heavy nitrogen feeders and "cut and come again" plants. For instance, you can harvest the outside leaves of lettuce and leave the middle and it will continue to grow back several times without planting. If you have lights on a 16-8 timer you will get the most growth and thus most nitrogen utilization.
