In one week I overhauled my 120 Gallon Rainbow aquarium. I completely changed the aquascape, sold off the Rainbows, and flew some fish in that I have been wanting for years. Its finally happening!
I bought the new fish from here: www.cichlaholic.com/

Yeah my wife was sad as well. If I regret it, I could always start again, I just need to drive 7 hours to get the Aytinjos from a breeder I know.

Dude, love the Saulosi! That was an excellent choice. I'm glad I ran across your CLOUT vid and saw how nice these look as a young group. The downside is now I gotta get some myself...lol. I have a nice group of split gene Cobues and although the males are even nicer than the Saulosi, with awesome color morphing as you spoke about, the females are kinda boring. I really like the deep yellow of these Saulosi females. Thanks for sharing your fish!

awesome Channel! This video just inspired me. I just started a 55 gal tank i wasn't sure what i was going to keep in it. Was thinking Calvus and Brachardi. But this just got me really interested in doing Salousi. Which was one of my orignal plans with the 55. I bought it with intentions of doing a Malawi tank. Subbed!

Hi AL.. I love Saulosi.. they are amazing also because both male and females can change their colours rapidly. Females can take on the male colours often doing so when holding to deter unwanted attention.. Excellent group! Can you leave a link in the comments for the shipper? I'm in Canada as well and I know it's harder to get shipments here.. Thanks so much.. have a great weekend!

Scrolling NOT strolling
@AquaticLogic
@AquaticLogic 7 жыл бұрын
No I like the verb usage of strolling. Its like a lazy day strolling through the mall, not needing anything just window gazing. I was doing the same through Spencers fish lists. The technical usage of the noun you like is correct, but this was a story and thus my language has some nuances.

Dude those fish are incredible! I'm setting up a tank that's 6ft long 3 ft wide and 2ft tall. I don't know if I should do a big Malawi cichlid tank or hystrix rays with some south american cichlids! Choosing what to get is always the hardest part for me.
@AquaticLogic
@AquaticLogic 7 жыл бұрын
With those dimensions you could do a pair of hystrix for sure! My advice would be this: Pick whatever you want, but try and source them at a price that would involve as little risk as possible. That way, if you decide to sell them because you changed your mind, you could hopefully flip them and move on. Thanks for the comment and let me know when you decide!

I love salousi these where the first cichlids I started with I love how the males change their colour to blue and also how the male can change from blue back to yellow to make the female think he's actually a she haha and who said fish weren't clever 😂 very nice indeed and I'm gonna enjoy watching these mature up for you 😅

What are you doing if anything at all, in terms of medicating them preventably? I would love to hear your input on medicating fish and how most things are either misdiagnosed or over-diagnosed and treated.
@AquaticLogic
@AquaticLogic 7 жыл бұрын
With these guys I hit them with two rounds of Clout. A few started flashing so a reasonable diagnosis would be Ich considering the stress of flight/transport. I also love using Metro because its wide scope selecting for a lot of internal parasites and anaerobic bacteria, but leaves all the aerobic bacteria alone. I would normally QT everything for at least a month, and only treat as I see the need, but the last two rounds of new fish have been to new systems so QTing is not needed. HTH

These were hard to find? I can find them at any chain fish store(i prefer non chain, to ensure single species tanks). ELectric yellow being one the main ones I see at any fish store. The bigger cichlid focus one here that i goto, has much rarer types. Say like aceii types or rusty ones. I bought two of your blue/black stripped ones, which mine were labeled blue dolphins which look similar to i think it was "giant demasi" but was docile and eats more algae than any of my other cichlids, ive had a regular demonasi who was a butthole.... I personally think your fish and their new environment is to young to depict colors like you say. Do a water change and half of them probably change color atm is my guess. Redecorate even and they will. Like all cichlids change colors man, some more than others. Nice tank :]

those are good looking fish! I'm trying to creep my way into the hobby. I have a 20 gallon with some neons in it just to start. trying to learn to balance the water before I stalk more. currently having issues with cloudy water but I'm hoping after a few water changes that it will cycle through and clear up. I really like your lighting in the video what kind of light are you using? as well as your filter?
@AquaticLogic
@AquaticLogic 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jamie, thanks for the comment. Cloudy water can be caused by a myriad of issues, but on a new setup its probably a bacterial bloom caused by a spike in one of the Nitrogen cycle products. The first thing I would comment on with that is make sure that your NOT using a HOB filter with disposable cartridges. When you throw the cartridge away, you also throw away a huge amount of your beneficial bacteria. I have posed some videos on it if you want to see more. As for lighting on this tank I have 3 Aqueon Optibright 48" LED's but only two work at any given time because their power supplies are biodegradable. HTH

Aquatic Logic what filter would you recommend for a 20 gal?
@AquaticLogic
@AquaticLogic 7 жыл бұрын
Anything that does not have disposable cartridges. Aquaclear 30, Seachem Tidal 55, are two examples.

so I got the aquaclear 30 like you recommend. how do you recommend I do the switch? I currently just have the cheap filter with replaceable cartridges running. I'd like to do the filter switch and a water change without losing too much beneficial bacteria.
@AquaticLogic
@AquaticLogic 7 жыл бұрын
The safest way is to run both for 30 days. Your old crappy filter will do its job (do it poorly) while your new filter is getting established with the beneficial bacteria. You can also turn off your old filter, turn on new AC30, and swish an old filter cartridge in the water which will deposit the BB biofilms in the water and allow the AC30 to run for a hour or so and grab it up. Then turn the old one on again and wait 30 days. I do the same thing in my video called "best way to cycle new aquarium". HTH

conners fish tanks I would recommend some Gouramis for your 20 gallon. They come in a nice blue color, opaline color, & sunset color. They would be appropriate for your size tank :) You could get a similar look with a handful of blue gouramis!
