I totally get the costume thing. Fashion lately has felt like dressing like “..” instead of expressing yourself through clothing. Couldn’t figure out why I’ve been so uninspired and I think this is it. But thank goodness for your videos!

I 1000% agree with your thoughts on the trend cycle being gimmicky at the moment, and it's just getting very repetitive. I can only take ppl talking about "aesthetics" this or "trend and core" that before I exit out of social media all together to get away from it lol 😂

Totally agree with your thoughts on the landscape of fashion at the moment. Finding the trend cycles are rolling past way too quickly and some things do feel gimmicky. But maybe it's cause I'm a millennial and feeling out of touch with the cool kids lol thanks for the fun video!!

I’d love a personal style video about self expression through clothes not based on seeming conventionally attractive (i.e. trying to appear skinnier or taller, attempting to hide or fox ourselves, etc.)!

I’ve stuck to my own style and added a few “ballet core” “mermaid core” to my closet to get some different styles in my closet. It’s making me sad that we aren’t focusing on sustainability and original ideas. My style is really different from now styles but I have always been into Ralph Lauren fall 2009, Roberto cavalli fall 2004, ziad nakad couture spring 2017, Versace couture fall 2002. I miss those days with the designs and silhouettes. My style is very detailed elegance with a switch between feminine pieces and masculine pieces. Like for example a flowy dress and masculine watch with rings.

Amy, first of all you look gorgeous in this video. And also I've been feeling the same as you when it comes to trends and fashion, I feel like we're almost entering a revival of the 2010 trends now and it hasn't even been 20 years since that but fashion and trends are moving so fast right now, you don't even get to enjoy and reach the full potential one trend has because we're already jumping into the next!

Right like if we’re seeing a resurgence of 2010s fashion and it just happened… the trend cycle is gonna make its way into the 2020s and then we’re in the present and what do we do then 😅😂 the fashion world needs to slooooow down

This was so refreshing! I have been feeling the same way. I am all for aesthetics and looking at trends for ideas, but I feel like there's so much oversaturation and the trends are going in and out so quickly... it's overwhelming. I have checked out of it all, for now, so I can just refocus my energy on things that I truly love.

I also think the reason peolle are going back to basics is because fashion is mooving to fast. And people are sick of keeping up so we want clothes that lasts longer in style

I always felt y2k didn't really have a style. It was chaotic, a little piece of every genre thrown together, so now that it's coming back, again, it's all thrown together, but this time it's playing catch-up from the last few years where the trends weren't really getting 'shown off' because comfy was all anyone wanted. Ya, I'm over y2k. I am loving the Euro (Swedish?) trend with muted tones and classic silhouettes ( I swear I saw lol.) Your hair looks great btw.

fashion is now soul sick. its consumption / production used for $, greed, social media growth. dress to tell a story, dress in what makes you feel powerful. collections that have designers who make fashion out of passion, creativity, SOUL; make amazing pieces that are unfortunately ripped off by fast fashion. I realized that once I stopped consuming so much social media and just started dressing for me and what speaks to me; my personal style is more refined. I like to now invest on longevity and timeless pieces. And I shop new too so I’m not exempt to buying “trendy” pieces but not necessarily because I’m trying to keep up or fit a “core” (eek). Just because that’s what’s being produced and I liked it.

I'm older gen Z, and I am so tuned out of the "cores" lol. I think the aesthetics are getting to the point where, combined with overconsumption, it's lost a lot of the personal element. I still really love some really creative and totally out of reach fashion houses, like IVH. But otherwise, I'm more inspired by what suits me now as I enter my mid-20s this year. I'm loving the colors red and orange this year ❤ and it helps that my favorite shades to wear are in the red and orange realm.

You would think with so much variety available, all the inspiration and material that is ours for the taking with a touch of our finger tips on a screen it would be inspiring, but nope, nada, zilch. All these influenced, all these KZfaq and style icons, all these brands so much more visible than years prior but they all blend together into one chaotic mess, all different and yet somehow exactly the same each time. It's exhausting, so I've been tuning it out just like a TV or a radio station the last few months.

it's so so off when ppl just rely on fashion trends or "micro core" aesthetics. sick. just buy clothes that you're sure gonna wear in a long term period of time, choose something that you like something that fits you well and the item that is easily combined with other items in your closet. if you're don't know why you buying it and FOR WHAT reason then focus on basic clothes or don't buy AT ALL. no need to be dumb and consume whatever you see

In a fashion context it is referring to different kinds of styles. So, for example balletcore is a kind of style that takes inspiration from ballet.
