Lure fishing for some of the BIGGEST pike i've ever caught. Dramatic weather conditions made it a day of two climates with heavy snow and blue skies and sunshine, definitely made for some insane pike fishing though. I nearly bottled it this trip because of the cold but i'm so glad I persisted and I was definitely rewarded. I was fishing a commercial carp fishing lake, anbd although I know nothing about carp fishing i';ve learned that the pike here definitely like to eat them! The lure of choice was the Rapala X-rap Peto in mirror carp pattern, and the rod was the diawa prorex xr 80-180 grams coupled with the Abu Garcia revo beast X reel loaded with 60lb braid.
In terms of this channel going forward, i know i've hit this fishery hard lately but I want to make the most out of it before the pike fishing shuts in March. After then, trout season will be back open and i'm definitely intending on bringing this channel back to its roots and getting out more in the lake district!

Two cracking fish there pal, pretty new to the channel it popped up a few weeks ago and been watching back through your content. I’ve also had 90% of my success on the rapala paddle tails, will have to keep my eye out for the carp style one. Really nice fish on the lure! Will definitely have to try the mirror carp Peto on my local lake. Been plagued by lots of follows but very few takes recently. But at least knowing there are fish about keeps it interesting 😀

Congratulations with the PB what a stonking fish. Stick at it at wyreside as the stock levels are sky high which must = big fat Pike. All the best.

It is a great place to fish. The lake is closed for pike fishing until October ufortunately!

Was that 14lber a pb George. Lovely couple of doubles 👍🏻🐊 definitely give the otus mirror carp rapala a try 17cm done me big fish had 16lber onit a loads of double n jacks my best bait have them in other patterns as well get the ghost pattern good in mucky conditions . Have been using the peacock pattern aswell that’s been my favourite at the moment had a fish every time I’ve use it .

Thanks for the advice mate I will have to look into the peacock pattern I’ve not seen that one yet! And yeah it was a PB, hopefully there’s time for another out of there before the piking shuts for the carpers!

@@adventurefishinguk definitely give the dead baiting a try where you’ve been catching them Biggens , is what I usually do the spots where I’ve been having them on lures, usually gets me a big fish on dead baits mate worth a shot

How do you choose which spot along the lake / river you fish from?

Hi mate, always look for the features. Overhanging trees, deep pools, ledges, corners, structure in the water etc. also look for signs of any kind of fish moving in the water and prioritise that! Hope this helps

😂 I was long overdue one in this video that’s for sure. Had one the other day so could be freshly trimmed for all future videos haha. Left the beard a bit rogue though, things just get forgotten with a 3 month old baby at home!
